# The best BuiltWith alternatives in 2026, compared on price, free plans and how they detect technology

BuiltWith does two jobs: it checks one site and it lists every site on a technology. Most alternatives do one of them, so we compared eight on price, free plans, API access and how each finds technologies.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** [BuiltWith costs $295 to $995 a month](https://builtwith.com/plans), and the right alternative depends on the job. For one site at a time, WhatRuns, Wappalyzer and Enrich.chat have free options. For lists of sites by technology, look at Wappalyzer or NerdyData. For back-office tools such as a CRM or ERP, look at TheirStack.

## Key takeaways

- BuiltWith's web plans cost $295 (Basic, 2 technologies), $495 (Pro) and $995 (Team) a month, and single-site lookups are free. Its API needs a login, or costs $0.0495 a lookup in USDC with no account (checked October 16, 2026).
- Tools read different places. BuiltWith, NerdyData and Wappalyzer scan website code, TheirStack reads job posts, and Similarweb says it uses partner data, so each one sees different tools.
- Free options exist: WhatRuns, a Wappalyzer account (50 lookups a month), Similarweb's lookup, NerdyData (100 rows a report) and TheirStack (50 company credits a month). HG Insights has no free trial.
- Checking 1,000 sites once costs $29 on Enrich.chat's Growth plan, $49.50 on BuiltWith's pay-per-call API, $109 at TheirStack, $200 at NerdyData and $250 at Wappalyzer, but the outputs differ.
- Enrich.chat looks up one domain at a time and returns names and categories only. It has no dates or confidence score and is not a crawler of the whole web (company search can list companies in its records that use a tool, up to 25 a page).

## The verdict

If you check one company at a time from an AI agent or your own code and want its people next, **Enrich.chat** is the simplest swap. If you need lists of sites by technology, Wappalyzer and NerdyData are the closest rivals. For the long trend history BuiltWith lists, stay with BuiltWith.

- Best for agents and apps: Enrich.chat (A domain's stack, then its people)
- Best free browser check: WhatRuns (Free extension, no sign-up)
- Closest all-round swap: Wappalyzer (Lookups, lead lists and extensions)
- Best for back-office tools: TheirStack (Reads job posts, $109 for 1,000 companies)

## The 8 best BuiltWith alternatives, ranked

Ranked for people who want a company's tech stack inside an AI agent or app, without a contract. Prices come from each vendor's own pages, checked October 16, 2026.

### Enrich.chat

Contact and company data for AI agents and apps. One API call or one prompt returns a company's technologies by category, and the same API finds the people there.

- Best for: Agents and apps that need a company's tech stack and then the right contacts, without a contract
- Pricing: Plans from $29 a month with 100,000 monthly credits. A tech stack found uses 5 credits, and nothing found uses 0
- Strength: The tech stack for a domain and the people at that company, from one API or one prompt
- Strength: Remote MCP server with no key, or one prompt in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or code
- Strength: Credits are spent only on matches, with unlimited seats, monthly billing and no annual contract
- Watch out for: Looks up one domain at a time and is not a web crawler, though company search lists companies in its records that use a tool
- Watch out for: Returns names and categories only: no dates or confidence score, and no browser extension

### Wappalyzer

Technology lookups and lead lists by technology, with [free browser extensions](https://www.wappalyzer.com/apps/) for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.

- Best for: People who research sites in a browser and want lead lists by technology

- Strength: Plus adds company and contact details to lookups and to the extension
- Watch out for: The lookup API starts at Business, $450 a month, and Pro includes no API credits
- Watch out for: Its [terms prohibit reselling](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/) or sharing the data, and the product went closed source in 2023

- Best for: Back-office tools, hiring signals and lists of a few thousand companies

- Strength: Unlimited team members on every plan
- Watch out for: Sees a technology only when a job post mentions it, and its docs say a missing mention does not prove a tool is absent
- Watch out for: Its own comparison says BuiltWith costs less for very large lists of one or two web technologies

### Similarweb

Web traffic data with a free technology lookup, lists of sites by technology and a Sales Intelligence product.

- Best for: Teams that want traffic data next to the technology stack
- Pricing: Sales Intelligence Individual $99 a month billed yearly, or $129 monthly. Business and Enterprise by quote ([Similarweb plans](https://www.similarweb.com/packages/sales/), Oct 16, 2026)

- Strength: A free Chrome extension, with API and MCP access on Business and Enterprise
- Strength: Traffic data and contact details sit in the same product
- Watch out for: The Individual plan page lists no technology allowance, and Business and Enterprise prices are hidden
- Watch out for: Says its technology data comes from a partner network, without naming sources

### NerdyData

A search engine for website source code: find every site that uses a technology, a script, a cookie or a code snippet.

- Best for: Prospecting by technology or code snippet, including niche tools

### WhatRuns

A free browser extension that shows the technologies behind any site you visit.

- Best for: Checking a site as you browse, at no cost
- Pricing: Free ([WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/), Oct 16, 2026)

### HG Insights

Enterprise technographics, buyer intent, IT spend and contact data sold as HG Copilots, with an MCP server and agents.

- Best for: Large sales teams that want install and IT spend data in one platform

- Strength: An [MCP server](https://hginsights.com/product/hg-mcp-server) that works with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor
- Watch out for: Sold by quote, with no published price
- Watch out for: The MCP server needs an API key that an administrator creates

### Open fingerprints (webappanalyzer)

Wappalyzer's old fingerprint files, kept open by a community fork, plus HTTP Archive's public monthly crawl.

- Best for: Developers who want to run detection in their own code at no cost
- Pricing: Free under GPL-3.0 ([enthec/webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Patterns cover HTML, JavaScript variables, response headers, cookies and DNS records
- Strength: [HTTP Archive](https://httparchive.org/docs/guides/getting-started/) publishes its crawl on Google BigQuery
- Strength: Open files, so you can see exactly what is matched
- Watch out for: You write and run the scanner yourself, and you only see what you fetch
- Watch out for: Check the GPL-3.0 license before you reuse the files. HTTP Archive's crawl is monthly, not live

## How much does BuiltWith cost in 2026?

BuiltWith sells three web plans: Basic at $295 a month, Pro at $495 and Team at $995. Individual site lookups are free. We read [BuiltWith's plans page](https://builtwith.com/plans) on October 16, 2026.

| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | What the plans page lists |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | Individual site lookups |
| Basic | $295 | $2,950 | 2 technologies, 2 keywords, 2 retail reports, 1 login |
| Pro | $495 | $4,950 | Unlimited technologies, keywords and retail reports, 1 login |
| Team | $995 | $9,950 | Unlimited, with unlimited Pro logins. A Team Ultra plan is also mentioned, with no details |

Every plan lists data on 491.9 million domains, 127,824 tracked technologies, trend history of 18 or more years, usage alerts, Excel and CSV export, and links to CRMs such as Salesforce and HubSpot. The minimum term is one month on monthly plans and one year on yearly plans. Cancelling keeps access on until the paid term ends.

The API is billed apart from these plans. [BuiltWith's API docs](https://api.builtwith.com/domain-api) say you must log in or sign up to get a key, and the plans page lists no per-lookup price. One route skips the account: [BuiltWith's x402 page](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api) currently lists lookups at $0.0495 each, paid in USDC on Base, so you need a crypto wallet. Our [BuiltWith pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/builtwith-pricing/) covers each plan in more detail.

## Why do people look for a BuiltWith alternative?

Most switches come down to cost, packaging, API access and what a website scan can see. These are the reasons that BuiltWith's own pages and published reviews support.

- **Packaging.** Basic covers two technologies. Unlimited technologies start at Pro, $495 a month.
- **Account first.** BuiltWith's API needs a login, and the plans page shows no per-lookup price.
- **Blind spots.** [Bloomberry](https://bloomberry.com/blog/5-builtwith-alternatives-for-technology-intelligence), a rival vendor, says BuiltWith can miss newer products and many backend technologies, and that it relies on periodic recrawls. [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/comparisons/theirstack-vs-builtwith), another rival, says its job-post method suits tools that do not appear on websites, such as CRMs, ERPs and databases.
- **Mixed reviews.** [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/builtwith.com) shows BuiltWith at 2.9 out of 5 from 12 reviews, nine of them one star, with complaints about price and billing. Other reviewers praise its lead lists, list upload and support. A sample that small proves little.

Rivals and a small review site are not tests. If you check a handful of sites a month, BuiltWith's free single-site lookup may be all you need. For independent accuracy tests of website detection, read our guide to [technographic data](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/).

## How do BuiltWith and its alternatives detect technologies?

They read different places: website code, data from browser-extension users, job posts or a partner network. What a tool reads sets what it can see.

**Figure 1: What each vendor says it reads to find technologies.** A grid of six tools and four places a technology can be found: page code, browser extension data, job posts and partner data. BuiltWith, NerdyData and the open fingerprints read page code. Wappalyzer reads page code and extension data. TheirStack reads job posts. Similarweb says it uses a partner network of digital signals. HG Insights is not shown because its pages do not say where its data comes from.

*What each vendor says it reads to find technologies. HG Insights is left out because its pages do not say where its data comes from. Sources: [BuiltWith](https://builtwith.com/plans), [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/), [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/), [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/docs/data/technographic/how-we-source-tech-stack-data), [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/), [webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer).*

**Website scanners** find front-end tools. [BuiltWith says](https://builtwith.com/plans) it indexes the internet the way a search engine does and takes no data from third parties. [NerdyData says](https://www.nerdydata.com/) its crawler renders each page, JavaScript included, and indexes the source code, cookies, headers and network requests. [Wappalyzer says](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/) it combines limited data from its browser extension with in-house crawlers, and aims to re-verify each technology at least once a month.

**Job-post readers** find back-office tools. [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/docs/data/technographic/how-we-source-tech-stack-data) infers technologies from job postings and scores each signal low, medium or high. It says a technology missing from job posts does not mean the company lacks it.

**Partner networks** are harder to judge. [Similarweb says](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/) it works with a network of organizations that capture digital signals. HG Insights labels installs as current, historical or inferred, but the pages we read do not say where the data comes from.

**Open fingerprints** are the do-it-yourself route. The community fork [enthec/webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer) keeps Wappalyzer's old pattern files open under GPL-3.0. Our count on October 15, 2026 found 7,628 technology definitions in them. [HTTP Archive](https://github.com/HTTPArchive/wappalyzer) runs a fork of the last open Wappalyzer for its monthly crawl. Our [tech stack lookup guide](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) shows the signals in detail.

## Which BuiltWith alternatives are free?

Eight of the nine tools on this page have a free option, and HG Insights is the one that does not. The limits differ a lot, so check what the free option covers.

| Tool | Free option | What it limits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| BuiltWith | Free individual site lookups | Plans start at $295 a month |
| WhatRuns | Free Chrome and Firefox extension, no sign-up | One site at a time in your browser |
| Wappalyzer | Free account with 50 technology lookups a month, plus a free browser extension | Lead lists and the API need a paid plan |
| Similarweb | Free technology lookup with market share and usage | Lists, alerts and API sit behind sign-up, and prices are not shown |
| NerdyData | Free account with up to 100 rows per report, plus a free extension | Paid plans start at $200 a month |
| TheirStack | Free plan with 50 company credits and 200 API credits a month | Paid credits start at $109 for 1,000 companies |
| HG Insights | None: no pilot or free trial | Sold by quote, two-year standard term |
| Enrich.chat | 10 API lookups per IP address a day with no signup, plus 10 lookups on the website tools | Plans start at $29 a month |
| Open fingerprints | Free under GPL-3.0 | You run the detection yourself |

These come from each vendor's own pages: [BuiltWith](https://builtwith.com/plans), [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/), [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/), [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/), [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing), [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing) and [HG Insights](https://hginsights.com/pricing/). For a company's stack with no signup, Enrich.chat's free [tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) is one more place to start.

## Which alternatives list every site that uses a technology, and which have an API?

Lookup tools answer "what does this site use?" List tools answer "which sites use this?" BuiltWith, Wappalyzer, TheirStack, Similarweb and NerdyData offer both in some form. Enrich.chat offers only the lookup.

| Tool | Lists by technology | API for one domain | Agent access |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| BuiltWith | Yes: [Lists API](https://api.builtwith.com/) | Domain API, up to 16 domains a call | MCP with a key, or prepaid USDC |
| Wappalyzer | Yes: lead lists, 2 technology targets on Pro and unlimited on Business | [Lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/) on Business, up to 10 URLs a request | [Hosted MCP server](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/integrations/mcp/), Business plan, sign-in |
| TheirStack | Yes: company search by technology | Technographics API, 3 API credits a company | [Technographics MCP](https://theirstack.com/en/technographics-mcp) |
| Similarweb | Yes: lists of sites by technology | API on Business and Enterprise, or standalone by quote | MCP on Business and Enterprise |
| NerdyData | Yes: code search | Pay-as-you-go API, separate from plans | MCP page listed |
| HG Insights | Partial: Technology Discovery site | By quote | [MCP server](https://hginsights.com/product/hg-mcp-server), key from an admin |
| WhatRuns | No | Not stated | Not stated |
| Enrich.chat | No | One domain a request, no key to start | Remote MCP server, no key |

The API results differ too. [BuiltWith's Domain API](https://api.builtwith.com/domain-api) returns a 0 to 1 confidence score, first and last detected dates and an estimated monthly technology spend for each domain. [Wappalyzer's lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/) costs 1 credit per URL, with more for live crawls. Enrich.chat's response lists names and categories only. If you need to find sites by technology, browse our [companies using directory](https://enrich.chat/companies-using/) for well-known examples, or use a list tool above.

## What does it cost to check 1,000 websites?

On published prices, checking 1,000 websites once costs from $29 to $250 across the tools that publish a route. The outputs differ, so read how each number was built.

**Figure 2: Cheapest published route to check 1,000 websites.** List price in dollars for the cheapest published way to look up 1,000 websites once: Enrich.chat $29 a month on the Growth plan, BuiltWith $49.50 on its pay-per-call route, TheirStack $109 one time for 1,000 company credits, NerdyData $200 a month on Basic and Wappalyzer $250 a month on Pro. The outputs differ between tools.

*List price of the cheapest published route to look up 1,000 websites once. The tools return different things, and Enrich.chat returns names and categories only. Sources: [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/packages/sales/) and [HG Insights](https://hginsights.com/pricing/) are not shown, because they publish no per-site price. [BuiltWith](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api), [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing), [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing), [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/), checked October 16, 2026.*

- **Enrich.chat:** 1,000 lookups × 5 credits = 5,000 credits if every domain matches. That fits the Growth plan at $29 a month. A domain with no match uses 0 credits.
- **BuiltWith:** 1,000 lookups × $0.0495 = $49.50 on its [pay-per-call route](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api), paid in USDC. The web plans start at $295, and the plans page lists no per-lookup price.
- **TheirStack:** [1,000 company credits](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing) cost $109 one time. Each credit reveals one company's tech stack, jobs and firmographics.
- **NerdyData:** [Basic](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing) costs $200 a month and includes 1,000 domain enrichments a month.
- **Wappalyzer:** [Pro](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/) costs $250 a month and includes 5,000 technology lookups. The lookup API starts at Business, $450 a month.
- **Not shown:** HG Insights publishes no price, and [Similarweb's Individual plan](https://www.similarweb.com/packages/sales/) lists no per-site technology allowance.

These are list prices for one month. The plans bundle different things: TheirStack adds job postings, NerdyData adds code search and Wappalyzer adds lead lists. See [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan.

## Which BuiltWith alternative should you choose?

Choose by the job. Enrich.chat fits an agent or app that needs one company's stack and then its people. Wappalyzer, NerdyData and TheirStack fit site lists, and WhatRuns fits a quick check in your browser.

**Figure 3: Which BuiltWith alternative fits which job.** Six jobs and the tool that fits each: looking up a domain from an AI agent or code and then finding its people points to Enrich.chat, checking one site as you browse to WhatRuns or Wappalyzer, listing every site that uses a technology to BuiltWith or NerdyData, finding back-office tools such as a CRM or ERP to TheirStack or HG Insights, running detection yourself in code to the open fingerprints, and seeing web traffic next to the stack to Similarweb.

*Which tool fits which job. Fit is drawn from the vendors' own pages, checked October 16, 2026: [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/), [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/), [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing), [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing), [HG Insights](https://hginsights.com/pricing/), [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/).*

Before you pay anyone, run 20 sites whose stack you know through two free options and compare the results. If you already use ZoomInfo, see our [ZoomInfo alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/zoominfo/) and [ZoomInfo pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-pricing/) guides. If Wappalyzer is your starting point, read the [Wappalyzer alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/wappalyzer/). For company profiles beyond technology, compare the [best company data APIs](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-company-data-apis/). For the basics, see [what technology a website uses](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-technology-does-a-website-use/).

## When is BuiltWith the better choice?

BuiltWith is the better choice when you need history, change alerts or a very large list of sites on a technology. Those are what its plans are built for.

- **Long history.** [BuiltWith's plans](https://builtwith.com/plans) list trend history of 18 or more years and an Advanced Lookup of a business's past technology use. Enrich.chat's lookup returns no dates.
- **Change alerts.** Usage alerts tell you when a list of sites starts or stops using a technology, and [its API page](https://api.builtwith.com/) lists a Change API and a Live Feed API of new detections. Enrich.chat has no alerts.
- **Big site lists.** BuiltWith's Basic plan covers every site that runs two technologies. [TheirStack's own comparison](https://theirstack.com/en/comparisons/theirstack-vs-builtwith) says BuiltWith costs less for very large lists of one or two web technologies.
- **Extra fields.** The [Domain API](https://api.builtwith.com/domain-api) adds a confidence score, first and last detected dates and an estimated monthly technology spend. Enrich.chat returns names and categories.
- **Contacts listed on sites.** Its plans include names, emails and titles that businesses publish on their sites, within GDPR limits.

Other tools win elsewhere. Pick Wappalyzer for browser research, TheirStack for back-office tools found in job posts, NerdyData for code-snippet search and Similarweb when traffic matters as much as the stack. Enrich.chat is not the right tool for lists, history, alerts or dates, and it has no browser extension. It fits when an agent or app needs one company's stack and then its people.

## How do you check a company's tech stack from an AI agent with Enrich.chat?

Paste one prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any agent that can make web requests, or add the remote MCP server at `enrich.chat/mcp`. The agent calls `GET /v1/company/tech` with a domain and gets the company's technologies and their categories back.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to check the tech stack of each company website below. Flag the ones that use Shopify, say not found for any with no result, do not add any technology the API did not return, and give me the total credits used: [paste company websites]
```

Behind that prompt, your agent makes a plain GET request like this one:

```
GET https://enrich.chat/v1/company/tech?domain=acme.com
{
  "found": true,
  "domain": "acme.com",
  "technologies": [
    {"name": "Google Workspace", "category": "Email"},
    {"name": "HubSpot", "category": "CRM"}
  ],
  "credits_used": 5,
  "free_lookups_remaining": 9
}
```

A stack found uses 5 credits, and a lookup with `found` false uses 0. Each IP address gets 10 free lookups a day with no signup, and the free [tech stack lookup tool](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) gives 10 checks shared across the website tools. When the free lookups run out, the API returns 402 with a link to [your account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), where you log in with your email, pick Growth, Scale or Pro and pay at checkout. Plans bill monthly with unlimited seats and no annual contract. See [pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan.

### What does the Enrich.chat lookup not do?

- It checks one domain at a time. Company search can list companies in its records that run a tool, 25 to a page, but it cannot list every site on the web that uses a technology.
- It returns a plain list of names with a category for each. It has no first-seen dates, confidence score, spend estimate or alerts.
- It has no browser extension, so you cannot check a site as you browse.
- Like every tool on this page, a result is a signal to check, not a confirmed fact.

To go from a stack to a buyer, pair it with the [company enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/company-enrichment/), which also returns the company profile and the people there. The [agent docs](https://enrich.chat/agents.md) list every endpoint and the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click MCP links. See our guide to [technographic data](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) for how to read a result. Anyone can opt out at [enrich.chat/opt-out](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and you stay responsible for TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR rules. See our [terms](https://enrich.chat/terms/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best free alternative to BuiltWith?

It depends on the job. [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/) is a free browser extension with no sign-up. [Wappalyzer's free account](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/) gives 50 technology lookups a month, and [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/) has a free technology lookup. For a company's stack from an AI agent, Enrich.chat gives each IP address 10 lookups a day with no signup. BuiltWith itself is free for single-site lookups. We checked each on October 16, 2026.

### How much does BuiltWith cost per month?

[BuiltWith's plans page](https://builtwith.com/plans) lists Basic at $295 a month, Pro at $495 and Team at $995, checked October 16, 2026. Basic covers 2 technologies, while Pro and Team are unlimited. Yearly billing shows $2,950, $4,950 and $9,950. Individual site lookups are free. The minimum term is one month on monthly plans and one year on yearly plans. See our [BuiltWith pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/builtwith-pricing/).

### Can I list every website that uses a technology without BuiltWith?

Yes, with a few tools. [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/) sells lead lists by technology from $250 a month, [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing) searches website source code from $200 a month, and [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing) finds companies by the technology in their job posts. Enrich.chat looks up one domain at a time, so it cannot build these lists. Our [companies using directory](https://enrich.chat/companies-using/) shows well-known examples.

### Does BuiltWith have an API, and can an AI agent use it?

Yes. [BuiltWith's Domain API](https://api.builtwith.com/domain-api) returns technologies for up to 16 domains per call and needs a key from a logged-in account. Its [x402 page](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api) also lists pay-per-call lookups at $0.0495 in USDC with no account, plus an MCP server that takes a key or prepaid USDC credits. Enrich.chat's remote MCP server needs no key, and its API needs none for the first 10 lookups a day.

### Can a tech stack lookup see back-office tools such as a CRM or ERP?

Often not. Website scanners read public page code, so tools behind a login leave no trace. [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/docs/data/technographic/how-we-source-tech-stack-data) reads job posts instead, which can name a CRM, ERP or database, but only when the company mentions it. Its docs say a missing mention does not mean a tool is absent. Treat any detection as a lead to check, not a fact. Our [technographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) covers the limits.

### Does Enrich.chat replace BuiltWith?

It can stand in for the single-domain lookup. Enrich.chat's company tech endpoint returns a company's technologies with a category, and the same API finds the people there. It does not crawl the web for sites by technology (company search lists companies in its records that use a tool), keep history, send alerts, or return dates or a confidence score. For those, use BuiltWith or another tool above. Try the [free tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) first.
