# Clearbit Connect alternatives: what replaced the Gmail extension in 2026

Clearbit closed Connect on April 30, 2025, and its Chrome Web Store page is gone. We read Clearbit's notices, HubSpot's docs and 15 store listings on October 16, 2026 to see what still works in Gmail.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** Clearbit Connect, the free Gmail extension, was [discontinued on April 30, 2025](https://clearbit.com/changelog), and its [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clearbit-connect-free-ver/pmnhcgfcafcnkbengdcanjablaabjplo) now returns an error page. HubSpot's Sales extension is the official route, but it shows CRM records. Apollo and Lusha add Gmail panels with free credits, and Enrich.chat works through an API or AI agent with no extension.

## Key takeaways

- Clearbit's February 13, 2025 notice ended Clearbit Connect, the free platform, the Weekly Visitor Report, the TAM Calculator and the free Slack integration on April 30, 2025.
- Connect gave every user 10 email reveals a month at no cost. Its help center says it collected web history and needed access to your personal communications to enrich emails in Gmail.
- Only 4 of the 15 contact-data extension listings we read describe contact data inside Gmail or an inbox: HubSpot Sales, Apollo, Lusha and ZoomInfo.
- Free tiers on October 16, 2026: Apollo 75 credits a month, Prospeo 100, Hunter 50, Snov.io 50, Lusha 40, and Enrich.chat 10 lookups a day with no signup.
- HubSpot is the official successor, but its enrichment lists no contact email or mobile number among the properties it fills.

## The verdict

No tool copies Clearbit Connect one for one. We make **Enrich.chat**, so weigh our view: it is the simplest swap if you want contact data inside an AI agent or your own app, with no extension to install. For a panel in Gmail, look at Apollo, Lusha or HubSpot's Sales extension.

- Best for AI agents and apps: Enrich.chat (REST API and MCP, no extension)
- Closest official successor: HubSpot Sales (Gmail and Outlook panel on your CRM)
- Gmail panel with free credits: Apollo, Lusha (75 and 40 credits a month)
- Emails from company websites: Hunter (50 free credits a month)

## Clearbit Connect alternatives, in order

We list the tools that put contact details in Gmail or Outlook first, then the ones that work on a web page or through an agent. Prices and free tiers are from each vendor's pages, checked October 16, 2026.

### Enrich.chat

Contact data for AI agents and apps. Give your agent a work email, a LinkedIn URL, or a name plus a company website, and it returns the person's details with a status on the email.

- Best for: People who want the lookup inside an AI agent, a script or a spreadsheet instead of a browser panel
- Pricing: Free for 10 lookups a day, then monthly plans from $29, with unlimited seats and no annual contract
- Strength: One prompt works in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and any agent that can fetch a URL
- Strength: A work email comes back with a status: verified, catch_all or unknown
- Strength: A lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits
- Strength: A LinkedIn URL is only a lookup key: it never logs in to LinkedIn
- Watch out for: No Gmail add-on and no Chrome extension: you pass each address to your agent or the API
- Watch out for: Personal mailboxes such as Gmail addresses are not looked up. It needs a work email, a LinkedIn URL, or a name plus a company website

### HubSpot Sales extension

HubSpot's Chrome extension for Gmail and its add-in for Outlook. The panel shows the HubSpot record of the person you are emailing.

- Best for: Teams that already run their CRM in HubSpot and want a panel on their own records
- Pricing: Free to start. Enrichment needs a Starter, Professional or Enterprise plan: a Starter Core Seat lists at $20 a month
- Strength: Gmail extension and Microsoft 365 add-in from one vendor
- Strength: Search contacts, log activity and create tasks without leaving the inbox
- Strength: Company fields can fill in when you add a company from its website, on Starter and above, once enrichment is set up
- Watch out for: Shows what your CRM holds. HubSpot's enrichment lists no contact email or mobile number
- Watch out for: Needs a HubSpot account, and the store rating is 3.4 from 8.2K ratings

### Apollo

A contact database with outreach tools. Its Chrome extension runs in Gmail, Google Calendar, CRMs and on company websites, and it works on the Free plan.

- Best for: Reps who want a Gmail panel plus sequences and a dialer in one seat
- Pricing: Free, then Basic at $65 a seat a month billed monthly, or $49 billed annually
- Strength: A Gmail panel on the Free plan
- Strength: Email and phone reveals, sequences and a dialer in the same seat
- Strength: 1,000,000 users and a 4.6 rating from 2.2K ratings on the store listing
- Watch out for: Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over
- Watch out for: Priced per seat, so a team of five pays for five seats

### Lusha

A contact finder whose extension adds a Lusha panel to Gmail, Google Calendar and company websites.

- Best for: Reps who want a Gmail panel with company search and bulk reveal
- Pricing: Free, then Starter at $49.90 a month billed monthly for 400 credits, or $37.45 billed yearly
- Strength: Gmail sidebar: search a company, filter its employees by department or seniority, then reveal
- Strength: Bulk reveal from the sidebar
- Strength: Phone numbers cost 5 credits, against 8 on Apollo
- Watch out for: The free plan is small: 40 credits buy up to 8 phone numbers
- Watch out for: Priced per plan with a seat allowance, not unlimited seats

### Hunter

An email finder that lists the addresses it has indexed for the website you are on. It has no Gmail panel.

- Best for: Finding addresses by company website, or by name plus domain, while you browse
- Pricing: Free, then Starter at $49 a month billed monthly for 2,000 credits, or $34 billed yearly

- Strength: The listing spells out every permission it asks for
- Strength: Unlimited team seats on Starter
- Strength: 4.9 on the store from 6.1K ratings
- Watch out for: No contact panel in Gmail: its Gmail tool is a separate email tracker extension
- Watch out for: Asks for access to all sites and for webRequest

### Prospeo

A contact finder with a Chrome extension for any website and a free plan that includes it.

- Best for: Solo users and small teams who want a larger free allowance
- Pricing: Free, then Starter at $49 a user a month billed monthly for 2,000 credits, or $37 billed yearly
- Strength: The biggest free allowance among the extensions here: 100 credits a month
- Strength: An email costs 1 credit, and 0 when none is found
- Strength: 4.9 on the store from 433 ratings
- Watch out for: Runs on websites, not in a Gmail panel
- Watch out for: The smallest user base of the extensions here: 10,000 users on the store

### ZoomInfo

An enterprise data platform. Its Chrome extension lists LinkedIn, your CRM and your inbox among the places it works.

- Best for: Teams that already hold a ZoomInfo contract
- Pricing: Not published. [ZoomInfo's pricing page](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing) asks you to submit a form to get pricing
- Strength: Inbox is listed among the places the extension works
- Strength: Mobile numbers and business emails are part of its Professional plan
- Watch out for: Pricing is sales-led and hidden
- Watch out for: The store rating is 1.6 from 295 ratings

## What happened to Clearbit Connect?

Clearbit shut down Clearbit Connect on April 30, 2025. In [a February 13, 2025 notice](https://clearbit.com/blog/the-future-of-clearbits-free-tools), Clearbit listed Connect with the free platform, the Weekly Visitor Report, the TAM Calculator and the free Slack integration as tools it would sunset that day. Its [help center](https://web.archive.org/web/20250911211236/https://help.clearbit.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015432728-Sunset-What-is-Clearbit-Connect) now says existing free Connect accounts were sunset and new free accounts are not being created.

Connect was a free Chrome extension. [TechCrunch covered its April 7, 2016 launch](https://techcrunch.com/2016/04/07/clearbit-connects-new-gmail-widget-can-help-you-find-anyones-email-address/) as a Gmail sidebar that showed the person you were writing to and their company. It could also find an email address from a company domain and a name. TechCrunch said it arrived after LinkedIn stripped features from the Gmail add-in Rapportive and left users looking for a replacement. Clearbit's help center says each user got 10 credits a month at no cost, and a credit was spent each time an email was revealed.

On websites, the same help page says Connect showed company details such as headcount and funding, listed people you could reveal, and changed its button color when a company matched your ideal customer profile.

HubSpot is why it ended. HubSpot [finalized its purchase of Clearbit in December 2023](https://www.hubspot.com/company-news/hubspot-completes-acquisition-of-b2b-intelligence-leader-clearbit), and Clearbit's notice says closing the free tools lets it build more integrated products, such as Breeze Intelligence. [Clearbit's blog](https://clearbit.com/blog/the-future-of-clearbits-free-tools) describes that product as enrichment inside HubSpot, with form shortening and buyer intent. It lists no Gmail feature. Our [Clearbit pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/clearbit-pricing/) covers what HubSpot sells now, and our [Clearbit alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clearbit/) page covers the API products.

**Figure 1: Clearbit Connect from launch to shutdown.** A timeline in five steps: Clearbit launches Connect as a Gmail sidebar on April 7, 2016, HubSpot finalizes its purchase of Clearbit in December 2023, Clearbit announces the end of its free tools on February 13, 2025, Connect is sunset on April 30, 2025, and the Chrome Web Store shows the listing as unavailable on October 16, 2026.

Stale guides keep people confused. ## Does anything replace Clearbit Connect inside Gmail today?

Not one for one. Only 4 of the 15 contact-data extension listings we read describe contact data inside Gmail or an inbox: [HubSpot Sales](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/hubspot-sales/oiiaigjnkhngdbnoookogelabohpglmd), [Apollo](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/apolloio-free-b2b-phone-n/alhgpfoeiimagjlnfekdhkjlkiomcapa), [Lusha](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/lusha-easily-find-b2b-con/mcebeofpilippmndlpcghpmghcljajna) and [ZoomInfo](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/zoominfo/fofjcndophjadilglgimelemjkjblgpf). The others, including Hunter, Snov.io and Prospeo, work on websites or LinkedIn. Here is what the four do:

- **HubSpot Sales.** [HubSpot's Gmail panel](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/connected-email/use-contact-profiles-with-the-hubspot-sales-chrome-extension) lets you search CRM contacts, edit their properties, log activity and add an email recipient as a new contact. It is the official route, since HubSpot owns Clearbit, but it shows what your CRM already holds. For Outlook, HubSpot offers a [Microsoft 365 add-in](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/connected-email/how-to-install-hubspot-sales).
- **Apollo.** [Apollo's Free plan](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) lists a Gmail extension, and its store listing says it also works in Google Calendar, CRMs and on company websites. Our [Apollo extension review](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-chrome-extension/) covers its limits.
- **Lusha.** [Lusha's Gmail guide](https://docs.lusha.com/user-guide/lusha-everywhere/prospecting-with-lusha-extension-through-gmail) says to switch on Lusha Everywhere, then search a company, filter its employees by department or seniority and reveal contacts. See our [Lusha alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/lusha/) page.
- **ZoomInfo.** Its store listing says the extension works in your inbox and is free for ZoomInfo customers. ZoomInfo does not publish prices.

The right pick depends on where you work. Figure 2 sorts the options by place. For a wider list that includes LinkedIn tools, read our guide to the [best LinkedIn email finders](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-linkedin-email-finder/). For pulling addresses off a web page, see our [email extractor guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/email-extractor/).

**Figure 2: Which Clearbit Connect alternative fits where you work.** A decision tree with five branches. In a Gmail panel: Apollo, Lusha or HubSpot Sales. In Outlook: HubSpot Sales with its Microsoft 365 add-in. On a company website: Hunter, Snov.io, Prospeo or Apollo. In an agent or app: Enrich.chat through a REST API or MCP. Already on ZoomInfo: the ZoomInfo extension, with price on request.

## What data do these extensions collect?

Any tool that works in your inbox can read your mail, so read its privacy label before you install it. Clearbit Connect's own listing declared personal information, personal communications, location and web history. Its help center added that Connect needed access to your personal communications to enrich emails in Gmail. In 2016, [TechCrunch reported](https://techcrunch.com/2016/04/07/clearbit-connects-new-gmail-widget-can-help-you-find-anyones-email-address/) that Connect needed read access to email headers and that Clearbit did not store the email itself.

The table sets each tool's store label beside what its own policy or listing says. We read the store privacy tabs and policies on October 16, 2026, except Clearbit Connect's store label, which comes from the April 2025 archive.

| Tool | Store privacy label | What its policy or listing adds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Clearbit Connect (closed) | Personal information, personal communications, location, web history | [Clearbit's policy](https://clearbit.com/privacy) says Connect collects web history and IP address, and Gmail sign-in shares your name, email address and Google profile. |
| HubSpot Sales | Personal communications, user activity | [HubSpot's policy](https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy) says the extension can read and change all your data on the websites you visit, and logs Gmail emails. |
| Apollo | Personal information, location, user activity | [Apollo's policy](https://www.apollo.io/privacy-policy) says email features can collect headers, subject lines, message content and attachments. |
| Lusha | Personal information, personal communications, location, website content | [Lusha's policy](https://www.lusha.com/legal/privacy-policy/) says that if you connect email or a calendar, it may scan business contact details from contact lists and meeting data. |
| Hunter | Personal information, authentication information, user activity | [Hunter's help center](https://help.hunter.io/en/articles/1852705-chrome-extension) says it returns addresses already indexed for the domain, not ones read off the page. |
| Snov.io | Authentication information, location, web history, website content | The [listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/email-finder-by-snovio/einnffiilpmgldkapbikhkeicohlaapj) names its permissions, including access to all http and https sites and webRequest. |
| Prospeo | Says it will not collect or use your data | [Its policy](https://prospeo.io/privacy-policy) covers the web app, API, Chrome extension and CSV tools. |

ZoomInfo's label lists personal information, location, web history and website content. We did not read its privacy policy. Three habits lower the risk with any of these tools:

- **Limit site access.** In Chrome, open Manage extensions, choose Details and set site access to specific sites, per [Chrome Web Store Help](https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769).
- **Check who else sees your mail.** HubSpot's policy says tracked correspondence is visible to other users on your subscription team.
- **Ask IT first at work.** Chrome Web Store Help notes that an organization might block some extensions.

## How much do the alternatives cost?

Among Apollo, Lusha, Hunter, Snov.io and Prospeo, free tiers run from 40 to 100 credits a month, and the cheapest paid plans cost $39 to $65 a month on monthly billing. HubSpot's seat price is separate. The table lists what each pricing page showed on October 16, 2026.

| Tool | Free tier | Cheapest paid plan, monthly billing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Enrich.chat | 10 lookups a day per IP, no signup | $29 a month, with unlimited seats and no annual contract |
| HubSpot Sales | A free HubSpot account; [Sales Hub Free is for up to 2 users](https://www.hubspot.com/pricing/sales) | A Starter Core Seat lists at $20 a month in [HubSpot's catalog](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog) |
| Apollo | 75 credits a seat a month | Basic at $65 a seat for 2,500 credits ($49 billed annually) |
| Lusha | 40 credits a month, 1 seat | Starter at $49.90 for 400 credits ($37.45 billed yearly) |
| Hunter | 50 credits a month | Starter at $49 for 2,000 credits ($34 billed yearly) |
| Snov.io | Trial plan: 50 credits, renewing monthly | Starter at $39 for 1,000 credits ($29.25 billed annually) |
| Prospeo | 100 credits a month | Starter at $49 a user for 2,000 credits ($37 billed yearly) |
| ZoomInfo | Not published | Not published: its pricing page asks you to submit a form |

Credits are not one unit across vendors, so check what a reveal costs. Apollo charges 1 credit for an email and 8 for a phone number, so its 75 free credits buy 75 emails or 9 phones. [Lusha's credit table](https://docs.lusha.com/user-guide/usage-analytics/how-credits-are-counted) charges 1 and 5, so 40 free credits buy up to 8 phones. Hunter charges 1 credit for each email found and nothing when it finds none. Prospeo also charges 1 credit for each email found.

Enrich.chat charges 10 credits for a work email and 250 for a mobile, and a lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits. For scale, 200 work emails a month use 2,000 credits, which fits the Growth plan at $29 a month. Compare monthly prices and the work you do, not credit counts. Our pricing guides cover [Apollo](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-pricing/), [Lusha](https://enrich.chat/blog/lusha-pricing/), [Hunter](https://enrich.chat/blog/hunter-io-pricing/), [Snov.io](https://enrich.chat/blog/snov-io-pricing/), [Prospeo](https://enrich.chat/blog/prospeo-pricing/) and [ZoomInfo](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-pricing/) in full, and [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) lists every plan.

## How do you replace the Gmail lookup with an AI agent?

Copy the sender's work email, paste it into your agent with one prompt, and read the answer. Enrich.chat has no Gmail add-on and no Chrome extension. It is a plain HTTPS API that your agent calls for you, and the free tier needs no signup or key. Our [guide for AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/) shows the one-click MCP install for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and other apps.

**Figure 3: Replacing the Gmail panel with an agent lookup.** Three steps. In Gmail you copy the sender's work email. You paste it into your AI agent with a prompt that starts with Use www.enrich.chat. The agent calls the person lookup and returns the name, title, company and LinkedIn URL. Nothing is installed in Gmail.

*One address in, one profile out, with no extension. The names are fictional examples from [Enrich.chat's agent guide](https://enrich.chat/agents/).*

Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to look up the person behind this work email address. Return their name, title, company and LinkedIn URL, mark misses as not found, and tell me the total credits_used: [paste the work email]
```

The agent sends one request to the person lookup with the address. For someone whose address you do not have, pass a name and the company's website instead, and ask for the email field:

```
GET https://enrich.chat/v1/person
  ?name=Jane%20Doe
  &company=acmelogistics.com
  &fields=email
{"found": true,
 "name": "Jane Doe",
 "title": "VP Operations",
 "company": {"name": "Acme Logistics"},
 "work_email": {"value": "jane.doe@acmelogistics.com", "status": "verified"},
 "credits_used": 10,
 "free_lookups_remaining": 9}
```

Each work email comes back as verified, catch_all or unknown, so you see the status of every field. A lookup that finds nothing returns found: false and uses 0 credits. Treat every result as a strong lead, not a guarantee. For a list of senders, ask the agent to pace itself at about one request a second. The [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) page has the full response, and the [free email finder](https://enrich.chat/tools/email-finder/) runs one lookup in your browser.

Know the gaps before you switch. Enrich.chat shows no panel while you read mail, so you copy each address yourself. It does not look up personal mailboxes such as Gmail addresses: it needs a work email, a LinkedIn URL, or a name plus a company website. It has no ICP checker, sequencing or dialer, which Connect, Apollo and HubSpot offer in different forms. It never logs in to LinkedIn, and a LinkedIn URL is only a lookup key.

## When is Clearbit Connect, or its HubSpot successor, the better choice?

Clearbit Connect itself is no longer a choice, so the real question is whether HubSpot's route beats the rest. It does when your contacts, deals and email already live in HubSpot. Based on HubSpot's own documentation, it gives you:

- **A panel in Gmail and Outlook on your own records.** The Sales extension covers Gmail and the Microsoft 365 add-in covers Outlook, with CRM search, tasks and activity logging.
- **Enrichment on a seat you already pay for.** [HubSpot's enrichment article](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment) says data enrichment does not use HubSpot Credits, and its catalog says a Core Seat includes enriched data.
- **Company details when you add a company from its website.** On Starter and above, the create form can fill in from enrichment once it is set up, per [HubSpot's web guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/connected-email/use-the-hubspot-sales-chrome-extension-across-the-web).
- **Form shortening in the same account.** HubSpot checks its enrichment data and shows a visitor only the fields it cannot fill.

Pick something else when you need a new person's email or a mobile number. HubSpot's contact property list has no email or phone, and contacts need a business email to be enriched. Our guides to [HubSpot Breeze Intelligence](https://enrich.chat/blog/hubspot-breeze-intelligence/) and [Clearbit pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/clearbit-pricing/) go deeper. To add emails and mobiles to HubSpot records, see how to [enrich HubSpot contacts through the Enrich.chat API](https://enrich.chat/integrations/hubspot/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Clearbit Connect still available?

No. Clearbit's [February 13, 2025 release note](https://clearbit.com/changelog) set April 30, 2025 as the end date for Connect, and its [help center](https://web.archive.org/web/20250911211236/https://help.clearbit.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015432728-Sunset-What-is-Clearbit-Connect) says existing free Connect accounts were sunset that day. When we opened the extension's Chrome Web Store address on October 16, 2026, the store showed an Item not available page. If the extension is still in your toolbar, remove it on Chrome's Manage extensions page.

### Was Clearbit Connect free?

Yes, up to a limit. [Clearbit's help center](https://web.archive.org/web/20250911211236/https://help.clearbit.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015432728-Sunset-What-is-Clearbit-Connect) says every Connect user got 10 credits a month at no cost, and a credit was spent each time an email was revealed. Credits refreshed on the day of the month you signed up. The [store listing](https://web.archive.org/web/20250407182224/https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clearbit-connect-free-ver/pmnhcgfcafcnkbengdcanjablaabjplo) pointed teams that wanted more to Clearbit Capture, which adds accounts and contacts to a CRM.

### What is the best free Clearbit Connect alternative for Gmail?

For a panel in Gmail, Apollo and Lusha both have free plans. [Apollo's Free plan](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) gives 75 credits a seat a month and lists a Gmail extension, and [Lusha's](https://www.lusha.com/pricing/) gives 40 credits a month, checked October 16, 2026. HubSpot's Sales extension is free with a HubSpot account but shows CRM records. For a lookup in an AI agent, Enrich.chat gives every IP 10 lookups a day with no signup.

### Does HubSpot offer a Clearbit Connect replacement?

Partly. HubSpot's Sales extension adds a panel to Gmail, and a Microsoft 365 add-in does the same in Outlook, per [HubSpot's install guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/connected-email/how-to-install-hubspot-sales). The panel shows CRM records and logs activity. HubSpot's [enrichment list](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) fills fields such as job title, seniority and LinkedIn URL for contacts with a business email, but it has no contact email or phone, so it cannot find an address for someone new.

### Is it safe to install an email finder extension for Gmail?

It depends on what the extension can read. Store listings carry a privacy label: HubSpot Sales and Lusha list personal communications, and Apollo lists user activity. [HubSpot's policy](https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy) says its extension can read and change all your data on the sites you visit. In Chrome you can limit site access to specific sites, per [Chrome Web Store Help](https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769). This is not security advice.

### How can I find the email of the person I am writing to without an extension?

Give your AI agent the details you have. Enrich.chat's [person lookup](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) takes a work email, a LinkedIn URL, or a name plus a company website, and returns the person's details with a status on the work email. It does not look up personal mailboxes such as Gmail addresses. The first 10 lookups each day need no signup. Treat every result as a strong lead, not a guarantee.
