# The best Hunter.io alternatives in 2026, compared on credits, API access and what you pay

Hunter sells one credit per email found, and its plans come bundled with cold email tools. We compared eight alternatives on price, API rules and AI agent support, using each vendor's own pages.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** The best Hunter.io alternatives in 2026 are Enrich.chat for AI agents and apps, Apollo for data plus outreach, Snov.io for a low-cost finder, and Anymail Finder for verified-only billing. [Hunter's Starter plan costs $49 a month](https://hunter.io/pricing) for 2,000 credits. Enrich.chat sells monthly credit plans from $29 with unlimited seats, and a lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits.

## Key takeaways

- Hunter's Starter plan costs $49 a month, or $34 a month billed yearly, for 2,000 credits. An email found costs 1 credit, a verification 0.5, and credits reset monthly with no rollover.
- If you use every credit, an email found on Hunter Starter costs about $0.0245. A work email on Enrich.chat's Growth plan costs $0.0029 on the same basis, and a lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits.
- Hunter's API reference says a key is required on every call. Enrich.chat's first 10 lookups each day need no key and no signup, and its MCP server needs no key.
- For 5,000 work emails a month, Hunter needs its $149 Growth plan. Enrich.chat costs $29 on the Growth plan, and the other alternatives we checked run from $99 to $255.
- Hunter is the better pick if you want its Sequences tool, a Chrome extension and a Google Sheets add-on in one app. Enrich.chat has none of the three.

## The verdict

For people who want contact data inside an AI agent or their own app, **Enrich.chat** is the simplest Hunter alternative: one prompt, no key to start, unlimited seats, and credits spent only on the emails and mobiles it finds.

- Best for agents and apps: Enrich.chat (One prompt, credit plans from $29 a month)
- Best with outreach tools: Apollo (Data, sequences and a dialer in one seat)
- Best low-cost finder: Snov.io (From $39 a month, unlimited seats)
- Best for verified-only billing: Anymail Finder (Bills only when a verified email is found)

## How much does Hunter cost in 2026?

Hunter has a free plan with 50 credits a month, three paid plans called Starter, Growth and Scale, and a custom Enterprise plan. On [Hunter's pricing page](https://hunter.io/pricing) on October 15, 2026, Starter cost $49 a month for 2,000 credits.

| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Credits a month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | 50 |
| Starter | $49 | $34 a month ($408 a year) | 2,000 |
| Growth | $149 | $104 a month ($1,248 a year) | 10,000 |
| Scale | $299 | $209 a month ($2,508 a year) | 25,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |

An email found with Domain Search or Email Finder costs 1 credit, and a verification costs 0.5 credit. Hunter says no credit is used when a search finds nothing or when a verification returns unknown. Repeat searches count once per billing period. Credits reset every month and do not roll over. Every plan includes unlimited users, who share one pool of credits.

The price of one email falls as you move up. If you use every credit on monthly billing, an email found costs about $0.0245 on Starter, $0.0149 on Growth and $0.012 on Scale. Hunter's plans are also an outreach platform, with 3, 10 or 20 connected email accounts and add-ons such as Inbox Protection from $7.50 a month per account. For API-only use, Hunter sells credits through its Data Platform, priced in a calculator and valid for up to 12 months from purchase. Our [Hunter.io pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/hunter-io-pricing/) covers each plan in more detail.

## Why do people look for a Hunter alternative?

The reasons that Hunter's own pages support are credit math, API keys and bundled outreach tools. Hunter is also well reviewed: [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/hunter.io) shows 4.2 out of 5 from 347 reviews, with 85% at five stars, and Hunter's pricing page cites 4.6 on Capterra and 4.4 on G2.

- **Email credits add up.** Hunter charges 1 credit for each email found, so a month of 5,000 emails needs its $149 Growth plan. Starter works out to about 2.5 cents an email.
- **No mobile credit.** [Hunter's credit table](https://hunter.io/pricing) lists emails found and emails verified, and no phone credit. [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) charges 8 credits for a phone number, and [Prospeo](https://prospeo.io/pricing) and [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing) charge 10. Enrich.chat charges 250 credits, and credit units differ, so compare dollars.
- **Credits do not roll over.** Hunter resets credits every month. [Anymail Finder](https://anymailfinder.com/pricing) keeps unused credits while you stay subscribed, and FullEnrich keeps them for 3 months on monthly plans. Enrich.chat credits also renew with each monthly payment and do not roll over.
- **A key on every call.** [Hunter's API reference](https://hunter.io/api-documentation/v2) says the key is required on every call, so a new account has to sign up first. One Trustpilot reviewer said a new account was held back from the Free plan until it was verified, and Hunter replied that the account's verification had not completed.
- **Outreach add-ons.** Hunter's plans are built around Sequences and connected email accounts. One Trustpilot reviewer called the Inbox Protection add-on a hidden fee, and Hunter replied that it is optional and listed on its pricing page. If you only want data, check add-on prices before you buy.

If you send cold email, read our guides to [email bounce rate](https://enrich.chat/blog/email-bounce-rate/) and [cold email data](https://enrich.chat/blog/cold-email/) before you pick a vendor.

## How does the Hunter API work, and what does it cost?

Hunter's API is on every plan, Free included, and it covers Domain Search, Email Finder, Email Verifier, Enrichment and Discover. [Hunter's help center](https://help.hunter.io/integrate-hunter/hunter-api) gives these credit costs and rate limits for its all-in-one plans:

| Hunter call | What it returns | Credits | Rate limit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Domain Search | Emails found for a domain | 1 credit for 1 to 10 emails | 15 a second, 500 a minute |
| Email Finder | The likely email for a name and domain, or a LinkedIn handle | 1 credit, only if an email is found | 15 a second, 500 a minute |
| Email Verifier | Deliverability of one address | 0.5 credit | 10 a second, 300 a minute |
| Enrichment | Person or company details | 0.2 credit | 15 a second, 500 a minute |
| Discover | Companies that match filters | Free | 5 a second, 50 a minute |

[Hunter's API reference](https://hunter.io/api-documentation/v2) says an API key is required on every call. You can send it as an `api_key` parameter, an `X-API-KEY` header or a Bearer header, and a `test-api-key` returns dummy data for testing. Email Finder returns a verification status of `valid`, `accept_all` or `unknown`. Enrich.chat returns `verified`, `catch_all` or `unknown` on each work email. A catch-all domain accepts every address, so a status alone cannot tell you the mailbox exists. Our free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/) shows which domains behave that way.

**Figure 1: What one credit buys on Hunter and on Enrich.chat.** On Hunter's all-in-one plans an email found costs 1 credit, a Domain Search covering up to 10 emails costs 1 credit, a verification costs 0.5 credit and a search that finds nothing costs 0. On Starter, $49 for 2,000 credits, one email found works out to about $0.0245. On Enrich.chat a work email costs 10 credits, a person returned for a company costs 5 credits, a mobile costs 250 credits and nothing found costs 0, so one work email on Growth works out to $0.0029.

*Credits per call on Hunter's all-in-one plans and on Enrich.chat. The units differ, so compare the dollar figures in the dark blocks, which assume you use every credit on the plan. Sources: [Hunter help center](https://help.hunter.io/integrate-hunter/hunter-api), [Hunter pricing](https://hunter.io/pricing), [Enrich.chat agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

Hunter also runs a [remote MCP server](https://hunter.io/mcp) that is included on every plan. You add your API key in a header, or sign in with OAuth where your client supports it.

## What should a Hunter alternative do better?

A good Hunter alternative costs less per email at your volume, bills nothing for empty lookups and lets your agent reach it without another login. Check six things before you switch:

1. **Dollars per email.** Hunter's Starter plan costs about $0.0245 an email if you use every credit. Enrich.chat's Growth plan costs $0.0029 a work email on the same basis. Credits are not one unit across vendors, so compare dollars.
2. **What a miss costs.** Hunter charges nothing when it finds no email. [Snov.io](https://snov.io/knowledgebase/what-is-a-credit/) also charges nothing, but it bills a credit for an unknown email. [Prospeo](https://prospeo.io/api-docs/enrich-person) charges nothing when no result is found. Enrich.chat uses 0 credits when `found` is false.
3. **Catch-all handling.** Ask how the vendor labels catch-all domains and whether it bills for them. Our guide to [email bounce rate](https://enrich.chat/blog/email-bounce-rate/) explains why they matter.
4. **Key and signup.** Hunter needs an API key on every call. Enrich.chat's first 10 lookups each day need no key and no signup.
5. **Agent access.** Hunter, [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/product/mcp), Snov.io, Prospeo, FullEnrich and Findymail all list an MCP server, and most need an account. Enrich.chat's [remote MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/) needs no key.
6. **Seat rules.** Hunter, Snov.io, Anymail Finder, Voila Norbert and FullEnrich include unlimited users. Apollo and Prospeo price per seat, and Findymail caps seats at 1, 5 or 20. Every Enrich.chat plan has unlimited seats.

Then run 20 of your own contacts through two free tiers and compare the results with what you have. Our free [email finder](https://enrich.chat/tools/email-finder/) is one place to start.

## How much do 5,000 work emails a month cost on Hunter and its alternatives?

For 5,000 work emails a month at one credit each, monthly list prices run from $29 to $255. On Enrich.chat the same emails need 50,000 credits, which fits the Growth plan at $29 a month. Hunter needs its Growth plan at $149.

| Tool | Plan that covers 5,000 a month | Billed monthly | Billed yearly |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Enrich.chat | Growth plan, 50,000 credits | $29 | Not offered, no annual contract |
| Snov.io | Pro S, 5,000 credits | $99 | $74.25 a month |
| Prospeo | Growth, 5,000 credits, 1 user | $99 | $74 a month |
| Voila Norbert | Butler, up to 5,000 leads | $99 | $79 a month |
| Apollo | 2 Basic seats, 5,000 credits | $130 | $98 a month |
| Hunter | Growth, 10,000 credits | $149 | $104 a month |
| Anymail Finder | 5k credit tier | $149 | $99 a month |
| FullEnrich | 5K credit tier | $255 | $232 a month |

Here is how each number was built from the vendor's pricing page on October 15, 2026:

- **Enrich.chat:** 5,000 emails × 10 credits = 50,000 credits if every lookup returns an email. A lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits, and each response shows `credits_used`.
- **Hunter:** 5,000 credits is more than the 2,000 in [Starter](https://hunter.io/pricing), so you need Growth with 10,000 credits. Starter covers 2,000 emails for $49.
- **Snov.io:** [Pro S](https://snov.io/pricing) includes 5,000 credits. Each email with a green or yellow status costs 1 credit.
- **Prospeo:** [Growth](https://prospeo.io/pricing) includes 5,000 credits for one user, and a verified email costs 1 credit.
- **Voila Norbert:** [Butler](https://www.voilanorbert.com/pricing/) covers up to 5,000 leads a month, and its FAQ says only successful finds count.
- **Apollo:** an email costs 1 credit, and [Basic](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) grants 2,500 credits per seat per month on monthly billing, so you need two seats. Yearly, Basic grants 30,000 credits per seat.
- **Anymail Finder:** the [5k credit tier](https://anymailfinder.com/pricing) costs $149 a month. Yearly, 60k credits cost $1,188.
- **FullEnrich:** the [5K credit tier](https://fullenrich.com/pricing) costs $255 on monthly billing. Yearly, 60,000 credits cost $2,784.
- **Not in the table:** [Findymail](https://www.findymail.com/pricing/) sells Individual, Team and Scale at $99, $399 and $999 a month but publishes no usage numbers.

**Figure 2: Monthly cost of 5,000 work emails on Hunter and seven alternatives.** List price per month on monthly billing for 5,000 work emails at one credit each: Enrich.chat $29 on the Growth plan, Snov.io $99, Prospeo $99, Voila Norbert $99, Apollo $130 for two seats, Hunter $149 on Growth, Anymail Finder $149 and FullEnrich $255.

*List prices on monthly billing for 5,000 work emails a month at one credit each. The Enrich.chat bar is the Growth plan, which covers the 50,000 credits these emails need. Hunter's bar is its Growth plan. Findymail publishes no usage numbers and is not shown. Sources: [Hunter](https://hunter.io/pricing), [Snov.io](https://snov.io/pricing), [Prospeo](https://prospeo.io/pricing), [Voila Norbert](https://www.voilanorbert.com/pricing/), [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/pricing), [Anymail Finder](https://anymailfinder.com/pricing), [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing), checked October 15, 2026.*

These are list prices at one volume, so a quote or a different volume will move them. The totals assume every lookup finds an email, and vendors count a find differently: Snov.io bills unknown emails, and Anymail Finder bills only verified ones. Enrich.chat plans bill a fixed monthly price with unlimited seats and every product included. See [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for the plan rates.

## Which Hunter alternative should you choose?

Choose by the job. Enrich.chat fits contact data that goes into an agent or an app, Apollo and Snov.io fit teams that want outreach in the same login, and Anymail Finder, Findymail and Voila Norbert fit cold emailers who want a finder.

**Figure 3: Which Hunter alternative fits which need.** Six needs and the alternative that fits each: contact data inside an AI agent or app points to Enrich.chat, data plus email sequences in one seat to Apollo, a low-cost finder with drip emails to Snov.io, billing only for verified emails to Anymail Finder, verified emails on a flat plan with no credits to count to Findymail, and emails with mobile numbers on one credit meter to FullEnrich or Prospeo.

*Which alternative fits which need. Fit is drawn from the vendors' own pages, checked October 15, 2026: [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/pricing), [Snov.io](https://snov.io/pricing), [Anymail Finder](https://anymailfinder.com/pricing), [Findymail](https://www.findymail.com/pricing/), [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing), [Prospeo](https://prospeo.io/pricing).*

Voila Norbert fits a simple monthly finder with bulk and API usage included. For other vendors, see our [Apollo alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/apollo/), [Lusha alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/lusha/) and [RocketReach alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/rocketreach/). ## When is Hunter the better choice?

Hunter is the better choice when you want email finding and cold email sending in one app, or when you work in a browser or a sheet. Pick Hunter if:

- You want [Sequences](https://hunter.io/pricing). Hunter connects 1, 3, 10 or 20 email accounts by plan and allows 500 to 15,000 recipients per sequence. Enrich.chat has no sequencing.
- You work in a browser or Google Sheets. Hunter's Chrome extension and Sheets add-on come with every plan and use the same credits. Enrich.chat has neither.
- You want to see where an address came from. [Hunter says](https://hunter.io/our-data) contacts in Domain Search show where and when they were found.
- You want a free plan that includes the API and MCP server. Hunter's Free plan gives 50 credits a month with both, though it needs an account and an API key.
- You want to find companies by filter. Hunter's Discover call is free to use, and Enrich.chat has no company search by filter.

Choose Enrich.chat when the contact data goes into an agent, a sheet your agent fills or your own app, and you want to start with no key and no signup. Enrich.chat has no Chrome extension, visual list builder, sequencing, standalone email verifier, buying signals or intent data. For bigger databases on annual contracts, see the [best B2B data providers](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-b2b-data-providers/).

## How do you run Hunter-style lookups from an AI agent?

Add Enrich.chat's remote MCP server at `enrich.chat/mcp` (one-click links are on the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/)), or paste one prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor so the agent reads [enrich.chat/agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md). There is no key for the first 10 lookups each day. Most Hunter calls have an Enrich.chat call in their place:

| Hunter call | What it does | Enrich.chat call |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Email Finder | Finds an email from a name and company | `GET /v1/email` with `name` and `domain`, or `GET /v1/person` with `name`, `company` and `fields=email` |
| Domain Search | Lists people and emails at a domain | `GET /v1/company/people` with `domain` and `with_email=true` |
| Email Enrichment | Adds details to an email | `GET /v1/person` with `email` |
| Company Enrichment | Adds details to a domain | `GET /v1/company` and `GET /v1/company/tech` |
| Discover | Finds companies by filter | No equivalent. `GET /v1/search` finds people by title, seniority, industry, country and size |
| Email Verifier | Checks any address | No equivalent. Each work email comes back with a status |
| Sequences, Signals | Sends email and tracks signals | No equivalent |

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find a work email for each person on this list, using their name and company website. Mark catch_all emails as risky and tell me the total credits used: [paste names and company websites]
```

The agent returns your rows with new columns and the total `credits_used`. Each work email comes with a status, `verified`, `catch_all` or `unknown`, and nothing is used when a row is not found. Treat every contact as a strong lead, not a guarantee. When the free lookups run out, the API returns 402 with a link to [your account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), where you log in with your email, pick Growth, Scale or Pro and pay at checkout. Keep your Hunter plan until its credits run out, so you can compare results side by side. Anyone can opt out at [enrich.chat/opt-out](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and you stay responsible for TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR rules. See our [terms](https://enrich.chat/terms/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is there a free alternative to Hunter.io?

### Is Hunter.io legal to use?

[Hunter says](https://hunter.io/our-data) its data comes from the public web, that each contact shows where and when it was found, and that anyone can claim and remove their address. Whether your outreach is lawful depends on where you send and what you send, because rules such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR bind the sender. This is not legal advice, and no data tool makes you compliant.
