# The best Wappalyzer alternatives in 2026, sorted by the job you need done

Wappalyzer is an extension, a lookup, a list builder and an API under one name. Most alternatives cover only some of those jobs, so we compared eight on price, free options and what each one returns.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** [Wappalyzer's extension is free, but its lookup API needs the $450 Business plan](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/), so the right alternative depends on the job. [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/) is a free extension, [BuiltWith](https://builtwith.com/plans) is the closest all-round swap, and open-source scanners cost nothing to run. For one company's tech stack from an AI agent, Enrich.chat gives 10 free lookups a day with no signup.

## Key takeaways

- Wappalyzer's browser extension is free, a free account gets 50 lookups a month, and paid plans run Plus $10, Pro $250, Business $450 and Enterprise from $850 a month (checked October 16, 2026).
- The lookup API, the hosted MCP server and CRM enrichment need Business at $450. Pro includes no API credits, and credits that come with a plan expire after 60 days.
- Wappalyzer went closed source in August 2023. Community forks keep its fingerprint files open under GPL-3.0, and httpx and wappalyzergo read them.
- Four jobs share one name: checking one site, looking up a domain by API, listing sites by technology, and running a scanner yourself. Pick the alternative by job.
- Enrich.chat looks up one domain at a time and returns names and categories only. It has no dates, confidence score, site lists or browser extension.

## The verdict

If you check one company at a time from an AI agent or your own code, **Enrich.chat** is the simplest swap and has a free tier with no signup. If you work in the browser, WhatRuns is free. If you need lists of sites by technology, stay with Wappalyzer or try BuiltWith or NerdyData.

- Best for agents and apps: Enrich.chat (One domain's stack, then its people)
- Best free extension: WhatRuns (No sign-up, Chrome and Firefox)
- Closest all-round swap: BuiltWith (Extension, lookups, lists and API)
- Best to run yourself: httpx (MIT license, Wappalyzer-format fingerprints)

## The 8 best Wappalyzer alternatives, ranked

Ranked for people who want a site's technologies inside an AI agent, an app or a script. Enrich.chat is ours and is listed first, so read its gaps. Prices come from each vendor's own pages, checked October 16, 2026.

### Enrich.chat

Contact and company data for AI agents and apps. One API call or one prompt returns a company's technologies with a category for each, and the same API finds the people there.

- Best for: Agents and apps that need one company's tech stack and then its people, with no seat limit or annual contract
- Pricing: Plans from $29 a month with 100,000 credits. A tech stack found uses 5 credits, and nothing found uses 0
- Strength: One domain per request through a plain API with no key to start, or from one prompt in ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor
- Strength: A remote MCP server that needs no key, and the same API finds the people at that company
- Strength: Every plan has unlimited seats and bills monthly with no annual contract
- Watch out for: Looks up one domain per request and is not a web crawler, though company search lists companies in its records that use a tool
- Watch out for: Returns names and categories only: no dates or confidence score, and no browser extension

### BuiltWith

The closest all-round swap: a free single-site lookup and [browser extensions](https://builtwith.com/toolbar), plus lists of sites by technology and an API.

- Best for: People who want Wappalyzer-style lists and lookups, plus years of trend history
- Pricing: Basic $295 a month for 2 technologies, Pro $495, Team $995. The API is billed apart, or $0.0495 a lookup in USDC ([BuiltWith plans](https://builtwith.com/plans) and [x402 page](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Lists API and reports by technology, with 18 or more years of trend history on every plan
- Strength: The [Domain API](https://api.builtwith.com/domain-api) returns a 0 to 1 confidence score and first and last detected dates for each technology
- Strength: Extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, plus a bookmarklet
- Watch out for: Basic covers only 2 technologies, and unlimited technologies start at Pro, $495 a month
- Watch out for: The Domain API needs a login and key, and the plans page lists no per-lookup price

### WhatRuns

A free browser extension that shows the technologies behind any site you visit.

- Best for: Checking sites as you browse, at no cost
- Pricing: Free ([WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: No account or payment
- Strength: Follow a site and get notified when it starts or stops using a technology
- Strength: Its [downloads page](https://www.whatruns.com/downloads) says 450k+ users have installed it
- Watch out for: One site at a time in your browser
- Watch out for: The pages we read list no site lists, API or paid plan

### NerdyData

A search engine for website source code: find every site that uses a technology, a script, a cookie or a code snippet.

- Best for: Prospecting by technology or code snippet, including niche tools
- Pricing: Basic $200 a month, Pro $300, Enterprise by quote ([NerdyData pricing](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Renders each page, JavaScript included, then indexes its code, cookies, headers and network requests
- Strength: A free browser extension and Gmail add-on come with every plan
- Strength: Basic includes 1,000 domain enrichments a month
- Watch out for: The API is pay as you go and not included in a subscription
- Watch out for: Its [home page](https://www.nerdydata.com/) lists 1,130+ technologies, against 8,166 on Wappalyzer's technologies page, though each vendor counts its own way

### TheirStack

Reads job postings instead of website code, so a tool that never shows on a website can still appear if a posting names it.

- Best for: Back-office tools, hiring signals and lists of companies
- Pricing: 1,000 company credits cost $109, one time, and unused credits roll over for 12 months. API plans start at $49 a month for 1,500 API credits ([TheirStack pricing](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Technographics API at 3 API credits a company, plus a [Technographics MCP](https://theirstack.com/en/technographics-mcp)
- Strength: Scores each technology low, medium or high confidence
- Strength: Unlimited team members on every plan
- Watch out for: Sees a technology only when a posting mentions it, and its docs say a missing mention does not prove a tool is absent
- Watch out for: Reads job posts, not websites, so it is no stand-in for a browser extension

### Similarweb

Web traffic data with a free technology lookup, lists of websites by technology and a Sales Intelligence product.

- Best for: Teams that want traffic data next to a site's technology stack
- Pricing: Sales Intelligence Individual $99 a month billed yearly, or $129 monthly. Business and Enterprise by quote ([Similarweb plans](https://www.similarweb.com/packages/sales/), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Says its technology data is updated weekly
- Strength: Lists of websites that use a technology, with company details and contact information
- Strength: API and MCP access on Business and Enterprise
- Watch out for: Says its data comes from a partner network, without naming sources
- Watch out for: The plan page lists no technology allowance, and Business and Enterprise prices are hidden

### httpx and wappalyzergo

Open-source Go tools from ProjectDiscovery. wappalyzergo is a library that matches Wappalyzer-format fingerprints, and httpx prints a site's technologies with its -td flag.

- Best for: Developers who want detection inside their own code or scripts
- Pricing: Free under the MIT license ([httpx](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/httpx) and [wappalyzergo](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/wappalyzergo), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: wappalyzergo reads fingerprints from the enthec and HTTP Archive forks and has an updater
- Strength: httpx reads a file of hosts, so a list is one command
- Strength: No account, key or credit limit
- Watch out for: You fetch every site yourself, and the httpx default is 150 requests a second, so set a lower rate
- Watch out for: Results are only as good as the fingerprint files and what the site shows on the pages you fetch

### WhatWeb

A command-line web scanner with its own plugins, built to answer what a website is running. It is not a Wappalyzer fork.

- Best for: Scripted scans, with version numbers and a way to trade speed for thoroughness
- Pricing: Free under GPLv2 ([WhatWeb on GitHub](https://github.com/urbanadventurer/WhatWeb), Oct 16, 2026)
- Strength: Over 1,800 plugins and an aggression level that trades speed against thoroughness
- Strength: Output in JSON, XML and other formats
- Strength: The default level makes one HTTP request per site
- Watch out for: A command-line tool with no browser extension or web app
- Watch out for: Its aggressive modes were built for penetration tests, so keep to the default for public sites

## How much does Wappalyzer cost in 2026?

Wappalyzer's browser extension is free, and its paid plans run from Plus at $10 a month to Enterprise from $850. The lookup API starts at Business, $450 a month. We read [Wappalyzer's pricing page](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/) and its [Plus page](https://www.wappalyzer.com/plus/) on October 16, 2026.

| Plan | Monthly price | What the pages list |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free account | $0 | 50 technology lookups and 50 email verifications a month, 5 website alerts, free sample lead lists |
| Plus | $10 | 1 user, 200 lookups, 200 email verifications, 10 alerts. Adds company and contact details to single lookups and to the extension |
| Pro | $250 | 1 user, 5,000 lookups, lead lists with 2 technology targets. No API credits and no CRM enrichment |
| Business | $450 | 5 users, 20,000 lookups, unlimited technology targets, 20,000 API credits, CRM enrichment |
| Enterprise | $850+ | 25+ users, 200,000+ lookups and API credits, dedicated support, custom terms |

**Figure 1: Wappalyzer monthly price by plan.** Bars show Wappalyzer's monthly list price: Free $0, Plus $10, Pro $250, Business $450 and Enterprise from $850. Plus adds company and contact details, Pro adds lead lists with 2 technology targets, and Business adds the lookup API, the hosted MCP server and CRM enrichment.

*Wappalyzer's list price per month, with what each step adds. The lookup API starts at Business. Bar length is to scale, and Enterprise starts at $850. Source: [Wappalyzer pricing](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/) and [Plus plan](https://www.wappalyzer.com/plus/), checked October 16, 2026.*

The pricing page's billing toggle says yearly billing saves 17%. Plans cancel at any time, and you can pause for up to three months. Credits that come with a plan expire after 60 days, while bundles you buy last 365 days. You need a plan for lead lists, APIs and CRM integrations, and Wappalyzer sells no one-time purchase without one.

## Who is Wappalyzer for, and why do people look for an alternative?

Wappalyzer is for people who want to see what a site is built with, and for sales and marketing teams that build lists of companies by technology. People look elsewhere over price, API access, licensing and the extension's data sharing. Wappalyzer's own pages and public ratings document each of the points below.

On the research side, [the browser extension](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/extension/) checks the page you have open. On the sales side, [Wappalyzer's lead list FAQ](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/lists/) says lists help sales, marketing and RevOps teams find companies by the technologies they use. The [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/wappalyzer-technology-pro/gppongmhjkpfnbhagpmjfkannfbllamg) shows 3,000,000 users and an update on September 29, 2026, so the extension is still being updated.

- **It is closed source.** The community fork [enthec/webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer) says Wappalyzer went private in August 2023. [HTTP Archive's fork](https://github.com/HTTPArchive/wappalyzer) says the website and the browser extension are closed source.
- **The useful parts cost more.** The lookup API, the hosted MCP server and CRM enrichment need Business at $450 a month. Pro, at $250, includes no API credits, and the free account stops at 50 lookups a month.
- **Credits expire.** [Wappalyzer's pricing FAQ](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/pricing/) says credits included in a plan expire after 60 days.
- **The data license is tight.** [Wappalyzer's terms](https://www.wappalyzer.com/terms/) say the data is licensed, not sold. You may not resell it, publish it or embed it in a customer-facing product without written permission, though Enterprise terms can give broader rights.
- **The extension can share what you visit.** [Wappalyzer's privacy policy](https://www.wappalyzer.com/privacy/) says that when sharing is on, the extension sends the hostname, HTTP or HTTPS, and the detected technologies, and that this data may be shared or sold in its products. It says full page content and full URLs are not sent, and that you can turn sharing off in the extension settings.
- **Ratings are mixed.** The Chrome Web Store shows 4.0 out of 5 from 2K ratings, [Firefox Add-ons](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wappalyzer/) shows 4.4 from 548 reviews, and [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/wappalyzer.com) shows 2.6 from 8 reviews. Eight reviews prove little.
- **Detections are inferred.** Wappalyzer's terms say its outputs may be incomplete, inferred, delayed, inaccurate or unavailable. Our [technographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) covers independent tests of fingerprinting tools, Wappalyzer included.

None of this makes Wappalyzer a poor tool. If the free extension and 50 lookups a month cover your work, you may not need to switch.

## Which job do you need a Wappalyzer alternative for?

Wappalyzer covers four jobs: checking one site in your browser, looking up a domain by API, listing every site that uses a technology, and, through open forks, running detection yourself. Few alternatives do all four, so choose by job.

**Figure 2: Which tool does which job.** A grid of eight tools and four jobs: browser extension, domain API, lists of sites by technology, and running detection yourself. Wappalyzer, BuiltWith and NerdyData offer an extension and lists, and Wappalyzer and NerdyData gate their API behind a plan or a separate bill. WhatRuns is an extension only. TheirStack has an API and lists. Similarweb has lists and a plan-gated API. Open-source scanners are for running yourself. Enrich.chat has a domain API only.

*Which of four jobs each tool offers, from the vendors' own pages. Similarweb's API sits in its Business plan, and NerdyData's API is billed apart from its plans. Sources: [Wappalyzer](https://www.wappalyzer.com/pricing/), [BuiltWith](https://builtwith.com/plans), [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/), [NerdyData](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing), [TheirStack](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing), [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/), checked October 16, 2026.*

- **Check a site as you browse.** WhatRuns is free with no sign-up. BuiltWith, NerdyData and Wappalyzer also have extensions. Enrich.chat has none.
- **Look up a domain by API.** BuiltWith, TheirStack, NerdyData, Wappalyzer (Business plan) and Enrich.chat each have one. The cost table below compares them.
- **List sites by technology.** Wappalyzer's lead lists, BuiltWith, NerdyData, TheirStack and Similarweb do this. Enrich.chat does not.
- **Run detection yourself.** httpx, wappalyzergo and WhatWeb are free, open source and need no account.

For free web checkers that need no extension, such as W3Techs, read our guide to [what technology a website uses](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-technology-does-a-website-use/). For a comparison built around BuiltWith, see our [BuiltWith alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/builtwith/) and [BuiltWith pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/builtwith-pricing/) guides.

## Are there free or open-source Wappalyzer alternatives?

Yes. WhatRuns is a free extension, BuiltWith and Similarweb offer free site lookups, and five open-source projects are free to run. Because Wappalyzer's own dataset is closed, the open projects rely on community-kept fingerprint files.

| Project | License | What it is | You need |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [enthec/webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer) | GPL-3.0 license | A community continuation of Wappalyzer's fingerprint files, in the same JSON format | Your own code to run the files |
| [HTTPArchive/wappalyzer](https://github.com/HTTPArchive/wappalyzer) | GPL-3.0 license | A fork of the last open-source Wappalyzer, used for HTTP Archive's monthly crawl | Node.js 14 or higher |
| [wappalyzergo](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/wappalyzergo) | MIT license | A Go library that matches fingerprints against a response's headers and body | A Go program |
| [httpx](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/httpx) | MIT license | A command-line HTTP toolkit. Its -td flag shows technologies using the Wappalyzer dataset | A command line |
| [WhatWeb](https://github.com/urbanadventurer/WhatWeb) | GPLv2 license | A scanner with over 1,800 plugins of its own, not a Wappalyzer fork | A command line |

We read each project's README on October 16, 2026 and ran none of them. The httpx README lists a default rate of 150 requests a second, so set a lower rate, such as `-rl 5`, before you scan a list. These tools fetch each site from your own network, so the site sees your IP address. By default, wappalyzergo reads only a response's headers and body, and a deeper check needs a headless browser that you launch yourself. Check each license before you reuse the fingerprint files. Our [tech stack lookup guide](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) shows what the fingerprints match.

## How do the API prices and responses compare?

Wappalyzer's lookup API costs 1 credit per URL and needs the Business plan: $450 a month for 20,000 API credits, or about 2.25 cents a URL if you use them all. The alternatives price a lookup in different ways, and their responses differ.

| Route | Entry price | Cost of one lookup |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [Wappalyzer lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/) | Business, $450 a month with 20,000 API credits | 1 credit a URL, or 5 for a live deep scan |
| [BuiltWith pay per call](https://api.builtwith.com/x402-api) | No account. Paid in USDC on Base | $0.0495. The Domain API needs a login and key |
| [TheirStack API](https://theirstack.com/en/pricing) | From $49 a month for 1,500 API credits. The free plan has 200 a month | 3 API credits a company |
| [NerdyData API](https://www.nerdydata.com/pricing) | Pay as you go, billed apart from plans | No price on the pages we read |
| Enrich.chat | 10 free lookups a day, then plans from $29 a month | 5 credits for a stack found, 0 when nothing is found |

Here is the same volume on two plans. Wappalyzer's Business plan includes 20,000 API credits for $450 a month. On Enrich.chat, 20,000 stacks found fit the Growth plan at $29 a month, using every credit in it. The numbers are not like for like, because the responses differ. See [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan, and our [BuiltWith alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/builtwith/) page for the cost of checking 1,000 sites across more tools.

Wappalyzer's response lists a name, slug, categories, versions, a CPE identifier, a traffic rank and a confirmation timestamp for each technology. Extra field sets add company and contact details. Its docs list no confidence field, though the default `denoise` setting drops low-confidence results. Enrich.chat's response lists a name and a category for each technology.

**Figure 3: One detected technology in each API response.** Two panels. Wappalyzer's documented lookup response lists seven fields for one technology: name, slug, categories, versions, cpe, trafficRank and confirmedAt. Enrich.chat's company tech response lists a name and a category, plus the credits used. Enrich.chat does not return versions, dates, a confidence score or a traffic rank.

*One detected technology as each API returns it. Wappalyzer's fields come from the example response in its docs. Enrich.chat returns names and categories only. Source: [Wappalyzer technology lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/), checked October 16, 2026.*

## When is Wappalyzer the better choice?

Wappalyzer is the better choice when you want a free extension in any major browser, lead lists by technology, or a richer API response than a name and a category. It also has more workflow connections than most alternatives.

- **Browser research in any major browser.** [Wappalyzer lists extensions](https://www.wappalyzer.com/apps/) for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, and its extension detects technologies for free. Enrich.chat has no extension.
- **Cheap single-site research.** Plus costs $10 a month and adds company and contact details, such as emails and social profiles, to single lookups and to the extension.
- **Lead lists by technology.** [Lead lists](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/lists/) can be filtered by technology, keyword, industry, company size, website traffic, country and language, and the [lead lists page](https://www.wappalyzer.com/lists/) says you get a free sample before you download the full list. The [lists API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lists/) charges 1 credit per website. Enrich.chat does not crawl the web, so it cannot list every site by technology (company search lists companies in its records that use a tool).
- **A richer response.** The [lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/) adds versions, CPE identifiers, a traffic rank and a confirmation timestamp, and it can return up to 12 months of monthly history in one request. Enrich.chat returns names and categories only.
- **Workflow connections.** The [apps page](https://www.wappalyzer.com/apps/) lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, a Gmail add-on, Zapier, Make and Pabbly. Its [hosted MCP server](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/integrations/mcp/) works with a Business plan and a Wappalyzer sign-in. Enrich.chat has no native CRM app.
- **A large catalog and a monthly refresh target.** Wappalyzer's [technologies page](https://www.wappalyzer.com/technologies/) lists 8,166 web technologies in 106 categories, and its FAQ says it aims to re-verify each technology at least once a month.

Other tools win elsewhere. Pick WhatRuns for a free extension, BuiltWith for long trend history, NerdyData for code-snippet search and TheirStack for tools that job posts mention. Enrich.chat is not the right tool for lists, versions, dates, alerts or a browser extension. It fits when an agent or app needs one company's stack and then its people. For a wider view of data vendors, see the [best company data APIs](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-company-data-apis/).

## How do you check a company's tech stack from an AI agent with Enrich.chat?

Paste one prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any agent that can make web requests, or add the remote MCP server at `enrich.chat/mcp`, which needs no key. The agent calls `GET /v1/company/tech` with a domain and gets the company's technologies back, each with a category.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to look up the tech stack of each domain in my list, one request a second. Mark every domain that uses Mailchimp, say not found for any with no result, do not add any technology the API did not return, and give me the total credits used: [paste domains]
```

Behind that prompt, your agent sends a plain GET request like this one:

```
GET https://enrich.chat/v1/company/tech?domain=acme.com
{
  "found": true,
  "domain": "acme.com",
  "technologies": [
    {"name": "Google Workspace", "category": "Email"},
    {"name": "HubSpot", "category": "CRM"}
  ],
  "credits_used": 5,
  "free_lookups_remaining": 9
}
```

A stack found uses 5 credits, and a lookup with `found` false uses 0. Each IP address gets 10 free lookups a day with no signup, and the free [tech stack lookup tool](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) gives 10 checks shared across the website tools. When the free lookups run out, the API returns 402 with a link to [your account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), where you log in with your email, pick Growth, Scale or Pro and pay at checkout. Plans bill monthly with unlimited seats and no annual contract. See [pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan.

### What does the Enrich.chat lookup not do?

- It checks one domain at a time. Company search can list companies in its records that run a tool, 25 to a page, but it cannot list every site on the web that uses a technology.
- It returns names and categories only. It has no versions, first-seen dates, confidence score, traffic rank or alerts.
- It has no browser extension, so you cannot check a site as you browse.
- Like every tool on this page, a result is a signal to check, not a confirmed fact.

To go from a stack to a buyer, pair it with the [company enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/company-enrichment/), which also returns the company profile and the people there. The [guide to Enrich.chat for AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/) covers setup, and the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click MCP links. Anyone can opt out at [enrich.chat/opt-out](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and you stay responsible for TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR rules. See our [terms](https://enrich.chat/terms/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best free alternative to Wappalyzer?

It depends on the job. [WhatRuns](https://www.whatruns.com/) is a free extension with no sign-up, and [BuiltWith](https://builtwith.com/plans) and [Similarweb](https://www.similarweb.com/technology/) have free site lookups. [httpx](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/httpx) and [WhatWeb](https://github.com/urbanadventurer/WhatWeb) are free to run in your own scripts. For a company's stack from an AI agent, Enrich.chat gives each IP address 10 lookups a day with no signup. We checked each on October 16, 2026.

### Is Wappalyzer still open source?

No. The community fork [enthec/webappanalyzer](https://github.com/enthec/webappanalyzer) says Wappalyzer went private in August 2023, and [HTTP Archive's fork](https://github.com/HTTPArchive/wappalyzer) says the website and browser extension are closed source. The fingerprint files live on under GPL-3.0 in forks, and ProjectDiscovery's [wappalyzergo](https://github.com/projectdiscovery/wappalyzergo) and httpx read them. See our [tech stack lookup guide](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) for how fingerprints work.

### How much does the Wappalyzer API cost?

[Wappalyzer's lookup API](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/api/v2/lookup/) needs the Business plan, $450 a month with 20,000 API credits, checked October 16, 2026. A lookup costs 1 credit a URL, or 5 for a live deep scan, and a request takes up to 10 URLs. Pro, at $250, includes no API credits. Enrich.chat's API has 10 free lookups a day with no signup, then plans from $29 a month.

### Can an AI agent use Wappalyzer?

Yes, on the Business plan. [Wappalyzer's docs](https://www.wappalyzer.com/docs/integrations/mcp/) list a hosted MCP server that signs you in with your Wappalyzer account. It offers lookup_site, lookup_subdomains and a credit balance tool. Enrich.chat's remote MCP server needs no key, and the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click links. We read both pages on October 16, 2026.

### Is there a Wappalyzer alternative that lists every site using a technology?

Yes. [Wappalyzer's own lead lists](https://www.wappalyzer.com/lists/) do this from the Pro plan, and BuiltWith, NerdyData, TheirStack and Similarweb offer lists too. Enrich.chat does not: it looks up one domain at a time. Our [companies using directory](https://enrich.chat/companies-using/) shows well-known examples by technology, and our [BuiltWith alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/builtwith/) page compares more list tools.

### Does the Wappalyzer extension track what I visit?

It can send limited data unless you turn that off. [Wappalyzer's extension FAQ](https://www.wappalyzer.com/faq/extension/) says it may send the hostname and identified technologies by default, and its [privacy policy](https://www.wappalyzer.com/privacy/) says this may be shared or sold in its products. The policy says full page content and full URLs are not sent. You can disable sharing in the extension settings.
