# Company enrichment API: profile, tech stack and people from a domain

Send a company website to GET /v1/company. Get back its industry, headcount and location, then its tech stack and the people who work there. Credits are used only when something is found.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** Enrich.chat's company enrichment API takes a website domain and returns the company's name, industry, employee count, state and country from one GET request to `/v1/company`. Two more endpoints return its tech stack and its people. A profile found uses 5 credits, a lookup that finds nothing uses 0, and 10 lookups a day are free with no signup.

## Key takeaways

- `GET /v1/company?domain=acme.com` returns name, domain, industry, employees, state and country. It takes a website domain, not a company name.
- `/v1/company/tech` lists the technologies a company runs, each with a category. `/v1/company/people` finds people there by title or seniority.
- A profile or tech stack found uses 5 credits. A miss uses 0, and each response returns `credits_used`.
- There is no revenue, founding year or funding field yet. Apollo and ZoomInfo return revenue, and they accept more kinds of input.

## A company API built for agents and apps

- **Domain in, profile out.** Send a website. Get its name, industry, headcount, state and country in one GET request.
- **A tech stack in one call.** `/v1/company/tech` lists each technology with a category, such as CRM or email.
- **Then the people.** `/v1/company/people` filters by title and seniority and returns LinkedIn URLs for `/v1/person`.
- **Credits only on a match.** 5 credits per profile or tech stack found. Nothing found, 0 credits.
- **One prompt to start.** Your agent reads enrich.chat/agents.md and starts calling, or adds the MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp. No SDK needed.
- **Free to try.** 10 free lookups a day, no signup and no key. Unlimited seats on every plan.

## From a domain to an account profile

1. **Send a domain.** Call `GET /v1/company?domain=acme.com`. A full URL is reduced to its domain. Company names are not supported yet.
2. **Read the profile.** Get the name, industry, employees, state and country. A miss returns `found: false` and uses 0 credits.
3. **Go deeper if you need to.** Call `/v1/company/tech` for the technologies and `/v1/company/people` for the people. Pass a `linkedin_url` to `/v1/person` for contact details.

## What is a company enrichment API?

A company enrichment API turns one identifier for a business, usually its website domain, into a fuller profile. [ZoomInfo describes the idea](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/operations/company-enrichment-api) as a partial identifier in and a complete company profile out. Enrich.chat does this with plain GET requests on `https://enrich.chat/v1`, and every response is JSON.

You may also see it called a company information API, a company data API or a firmographic data API. They all return facts that describe a business, such as its industry and size. Our [firmographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/firmographic-data/) explains the terms. Enrich.chat splits the job into three endpoints, so you spend credits only on the part you ask for.

| Endpoint | You send | You get back | Credits when found |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `/v1/company` | `domain` | Name, domain, industry, employees, state, country | 5 |
| `/v1/company/tech` | `domain` | Technologies, each with a category | 5 |
| `/v1/company/people` | `domain`, plus optional `title`, `seniority`, `limit` | Name, title and LinkedIn URL for each person | 5 per person |

**Figure 1: One domain in, three company endpoints out.** A website domain such as acme.com goes into three Enrich.chat endpoints. The company endpoint returns a profile, the tech endpoint returns tools with their categories, and the people endpoint returns names, titles and LinkedIn URLs. Each result found uses 5 credits, and a LinkedIn URL from the people endpoint can go to the person endpoint for a work email and mobile.

*One domain, three endpoints. Each result found uses 5 credits, and a miss uses 0. Source: [Enrich.chat agent docs](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

## What does GET /v1/company return?

A match returns six fields: `name`, `domain`, `industry`, `employees`, `state` and `country`. Send a website domain such as `acme.com`. A full URL is reduced to its domain, and company names are not supported yet.

**Figure 2: Anatomy of a company enrichment request and response.** One GET request to enrich.chat/v1/company with a domain returns found, six profile fields (name, domain, industry, employees, state and country), credits_used, which is 5 on a match and 0 on a miss, and free_lookups_remaining on the free tier. The response has no revenue, founding year or funding field.

*One GET request and the response it returns. Example values are made up. Source: [Enrich.chat agent docs](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

| Field | What it holds |
| --- | --- |
| `found` | true on a match. false means nothing matched and 0 credits were used. |
| `name`, `domain` | The company's name and the domain that matched. |
| `industry` | A short industry label, such as logistics & supply chain. |
| `employees` | Headcount as a whole number. |
| `state`, `country` | The company's state and country. |
| `credits_used` | Credits this call used: 5 on a match, 0 on a miss. |
| `free_lookups_remaining` | Free lookups left today. Present on the free tier only. |

### Can you trust the employees number?

Treat headcount from any provider as an estimate. Companies grow, shrink and restructure all the time, and sources count staff in different ways. Run your own sample of 50 companies before you write headcount into a CRM.

The response has no revenue, founding year or funding field today. The comparison below shows who returns them.

## How do you get a company's tech stack and its people?

Call `/v1/company/tech` for the technologies a company runs, and `/v1/company/people` for the people who work there. Both take the same domain as `/v1/company`.

- **Tech stack.** `GET /v1/company/tech?domain=acme.com` returns a `technologies` list. Each item has a `name` and a `category`, such as CRM or email. Use it to find accounts that run a tool, or to tailor a message. The free [tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) does the same in a browser, and the [technographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) shows how to use it.
- **People.** `GET /v1/company/people?domain=acme.com&title=head%20of%20sales` returns each person's name, title and `linkedin_url`. Narrow it with `seniority` (c_suite, founder, owner, vp, head, director or manager). `limit` runs from 1 to 25 and defaults to 10.
- **Work emails.** Add `with_email=true` to include each person's work email. Its status is `unknown`, because it is not re-checked in that call. To get a status of verified, catch_all or unknown, pass the `linkedin_url` to `/v1/person`. See the [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/).

If you want a prospect list from a plain English description instead, use the [people search API](https://enrich.chat/api/people-search/).

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to look up acme.com: its industry, employee count and location, the technologies it uses, and the head of sales with a work email and its status
```

## How much does a company lookup cost?

A company profile or a tech stack found uses 5 credits, and a lookup that finds nothing uses 0. Each person returned by `/v1/company/people` also uses 5 credits. Every response shows the total in `credits_used`.

You can try it first. Each IP address gets 10 free lookups a day with no signup and no key, and on the free tier a call that returns people uses one lookup, however many people come back. For more, plans bill monthly with unlimited seats, no annual contract and every product included: Growth $29 for 100,000 credits, Scale $90 for 500,000 credits, Pro $299 for 2,500,000 credits. Credits renew with each monthly payment and do not roll over. See the [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for the calculator.

A list of 2,000 accounts with a profile and a tech stack each uses 20,000 credits. That fits the Growth plan at $29 a month. Adding one head of sales per account raises it to 30,000 credits, which still fits Growth.

**Figure 3: Credits needed to enrich 2,000 accounts.** Two thousand company profiles use 10,000 credits and two thousand tech stacks use 10,000 credits. The 20,000 credits in total fit inside the 100,000 credits of the Growth plan, which costs $29 a month.

*Illustrative maths with our public credit rates. Every lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits, so misses do not add to the bar. Source: [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

### What happens at the free limit or on an error?

When the free lookups run out, the API returns HTTP 402 with `free_limit_reached`, an `upgrade_url` and a `resets_at` time. A 429 means slow down: wait `retry_after` seconds. A 400 means a parameter is missing or invalid, such as an empty `domain`. Rate limits are listed in the [API reference](https://enrich.chat/docs/).

The key is optional, and the free tier needs none. Paying customers log in at [enrich.chat/account/](https://enrich.chat/account/) with an email and a one-time code, pick a plan, pay at checkout, and the key appears on that page. A key starts with `pp_`. Send it as `Authorization: Bearer pp_...` or as `&key=pp_...`.

## How does it compare with other company enrichment APIs?

Enrich.chat looks up one domain per call and returns six profile fields, which suits agents and small jobs. People Data Labs, Apollo and ZoomInfo return more fields and accept more kinds of input. [People Data Labs charges per match](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-company-enrichment-api), and [ZoomInfo charges nothing](https://docs.gtm.ai/reference/enrichinterface_enrichcompany) for a no-match.

*Checked on each vendor's own pricing page and API docs on October 15, 2026.*

| API | Look up by | How you pay | Free option |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Enrich.chat | Website domain | Monthly credit plans from $29; 5 credits per profile found | 10 lookups a day, no signup |
| People Data Labs | [Name, website, social profile or ticker](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-company-enrichment-api) | [Pro plan from $98 to $100 a month](https://www.peopledatalabs.com/pricing/company), with volume discounts | [100 records a month](https://www.peopledatalabs.com/pricing/company) |
| Apollo | [Domain, website or LinkedIn URL; name alone is not supported](https://docs.apollo.io/reference/organization-enrichment) | [1 credit per organization](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing); [Basic is $49 per seat per month, billed annually](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) | [Free plan with 900 credits per seat per year](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) |
| ZoomInfo | [Website, name, ticker, ID or IP address](https://docs.gtm.ai/reference/enrichinterface_enrichcompany) | [1 data credit per new company](https://docs.gtm.ai/docs/credit-usage-and-limits); [$0.38 a credit at the $1,000 tier](https://gtm.ai/pricing) | [1,000 data credits at signup](https://gtm.ai/pricing) |

The others also return fields that Enrich.chat does not. [Apollo's organization endpoint](https://docs.apollo.io/reference/organization-enrichment) adds revenue, funding events, technologies and parent company. [ZoomInfo](https://docs.gtm.ai/reference/enrichinterface_enrichcompany) adds revenue, NAICS and SIC codes, and employee growth. People Data Labs returns [all the fields in its company schema](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/company-enrichment-api). For more vendors, see the [best company data APIs](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-company-data-apis/).

### When is another company data API the better choice?

- **You need revenue, funding or industry codes.** Apollo and ZoomInfo return them, per their docs above. Enrich.chat does not yet.
- **You start from a company name, ticker or LinkedIn page.** People Data Labs takes a name or ticker, Apollo takes a LinkedIn URL and ZoomInfo takes a name or ticker. Enrich.chat takes a domain.
- **You enrich in bulk.** [ZoomInfo takes up to 25 companies per request](https://docs.gtm.ai/reference/enrichinterface_enrichcompany), and [Apollo has a bulk endpoint](https://docs.apollo.io/reference/organization-enrichment) for up to 10. Enrich.chat looks up one domain per call. For bulk files, ask about Enterprise at sales@enrich.chat.
- **Your records live in HubSpot.** Clearbit is now part of HubSpot, and [its changelog](https://clearbit.com/changelog) says new sign-ups need a HubSpot account. See our [Clearbit alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clearbit/).
- **You need filings, not a profile.** The [SEC's EDGAR APIs](https://www.sec.gov/search-filings/edgar-application-programming-interfaces) are free and need no key, but they cover filings and financial facts from SEC filers, not company profiles.

### What to watch out for with Enrich.chat

- The company endpoints take a website domain only. They return no revenue range or founding year yet, and there is no batch endpoint.
- There is no visual table builder, CSV upload screen or native CRM app. You work through an AI agent, the free tools or your own code. SDKs are planned, and plain HTTPS works today.

### Privacy and opt-out

Anyone can remove their data at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and requests are processed within 15 days. If you contact people found through `/v1/company/people`, you are responsible for the rules that apply to you, such as TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR. Accounts are covered by our [terms](https://enrich.chat/terms/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What are some free APIs that provide company information?

Enrich.chat gives each IP address 10 free lookups a day with no signup and no key, covering `/v1/company`, `/v1/company/tech` and `/v1/company/people`. [People Data Labs' free plan](https://www.peopledatalabs.com/pricing/company) allows 100 records a month, and [ZoomInfo's GTM AI](https://gtm.ai/pricing) gives 1,000 data credits at signup. The SEC's [EDGAR APIs](https://www.sec.gov/search-filings/edgar-application-programming-interfaces) are free and keyless, but they cover filings, not company profiles.

### What is firmographic data, and which fields does Enrich.chat return?

Firmographic data describes a business the way demographics describe a person: its industry, size, location and revenue. Enrich.chat's `/v1/company` returns name, domain, industry, employees, state and country. It does not return revenue or founding year yet. Our [firmographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/firmographic-data/) covers the full list and how teams use it. For the software a company runs, call `/v1/company/tech`.

### Can I look up a company by name instead of a domain?

Not yet. The Enrich.chat company endpoints take a website domain such as `acme.com`, and a full URL is reduced to its domain. [People Data Labs](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-company-enrichment-api) accepts a name, ticker, website or profile, and [ZoomInfo](https://docs.gtm.ai/reference/enrichinterface_enrichcompany) accepts a name or ticker. If your list has only names, add each company's domain first, or ask your agent to find the website and pass it in.

### How do I find a company's tech stack with an API?

Send the domain to `GET /v1/company/tech?domain=acme.com`. The response lists each technology with a category, such as HubSpot as CRM. A tech stack found uses 5 credits and a miss uses 0. The free [tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/) runs the same kind of check in a browser, and the [technographic data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) explains how to use the results for targeting.

### Can I use the company API from ChatGPT or Claude without code?

Yes. Paste a prompt that starts with "Use www.enrich.chat" and the agent reads the docs and calls the API itself. It works in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex, n8n, Make and Zapier through HTTP. You can also add the MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp, with no key, which has company_profile, company_tech_stack and company_people tools. The [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click links and steps. No SDK is needed, and SDKs are planned.

### Is Clearbit's company API still an option?

Clearbit joined HubSpot, and [its changelog](https://clearbit.com/changelog) says new sign-ups need a HubSpot account. The only API shutdown in the changelog is the free Logo API, set for December 8, 2025. If you want a company profile by domain without a HubSpot account, Enrich.chat's `/v1/company` works with no signup on the free tier. It returns six fields, so check that covers what your code reads. See our [Clearbit alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clearbit/).
