# Apollo MCP in 2026: how to connect Apollo.io to Claude, what it costs, and an alternative with no sign-in

Apollo.io now runs an official MCP server. Here is how to set it up in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, what each call costs in credits, which GitHub servers exist, and when Enrich.chat's keyless MCP server does the job instead.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** Yes, Apollo.io has an official MCP server. It connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients through an OAuth sign-in or a master API key, on any Apollo plan ([Apollo docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp)). People search is free; an email costs 1 credit and a mobile 8 more. To skip the Apollo seat, Enrich.chat has its own MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp with no sign-in or key, 10 free lookups a day and monthly credit plans from $29.

## Key takeaways

- Apollo.io's official MCP server runs at mcp.apollo.io/mcp and plugs into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Replit and Cursor as a built-in connector.
- It works on every Apollo plan, but you must sign in with a work email, and only paid plans can prospect Apollo's full database.
- People search is free and returns no emails or phones. An email costs 1 credit and a mobile 8 more, about $0.02 and $0.16 on paid plans by our math.
- The open-source "Apollo MCP Server" from Apollo GraphQL is a different product for GraphQL APIs, not Apollo.io's sales data.
- Enrich.chat needs no Apollo seat: add its MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp with no sign-in or key, start with 10 free lookups a day, then choose a monthly credit plan from $29.

## Does Apollo.io have an official MCP server?

Yes. Apollo.io hosts an official MCP server at `https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp`. It runs on Apollo's side over Streamable HTTP, so there is nothing to install, according to [Apollo's MCP documentation](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp). The [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/getting-started/intro) (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI apps to outside tools. Apollo's server turns its search, enrichment and outreach features into tools that an AI client can call.

You can reach Apollo MCP three ways, per [Apollo's knowledge base](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/45119679436557-Use-Apollo-MCP-with-AI-Tools-to-Run-Your-GTM-Workflow):

- **Built-in connectors** in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Replit and Cursor. You sign in and approve access. There is no URL to paste.
- **The standalone server** for any client that supports remote servers with OAuth 2.0, such as Claude Code, Codex, VS Code with GitHub Copilot and Antigravity.
- **Apollo CLI** for terminal scripts, with an OAuth login in the browser.

Apollo also keeps a public repository, [apolloio/apollo-mcp-plugin](https://github.com/apolloio/apollo-mcp-plugin). It holds the client configs and a plugin for Claude Code and Cowork with four commands: `/apollo:prospect`, `/apollo:enrich-lead`, `/apollo:sequence-load` and `/apollo:analytics`. The README lists the server in the official MCP Registry as `io.github.apolloio/apollo-mcp`, version 0.1.1.

Apollo MCP can do far more than look people up. It also writes to your Apollo workspace. This table shows the main actions and which ones spend credits, from the credit table in [Apollo's MCP FAQ](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/45119679436557-Use-Apollo-MCP-with-AI-Tools-to-Run-Your-GTM-Workflow).

| Apollo MCP action | Uses credits? | What to know |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Search for people | No | Names and titles only, no emails or phones |
| Search for companies | Yes | Paid plans only |
| People enrichment, single or bulk | Yes | Returns emails and phones when found |
| Company enrichment and job postings | Yes | Firmographics and hiring signals |
| Create or update contacts and accounts | No | Writes to your Apollo records |
| Create sequences, add or remove contacts | No | Enrolling a contact can start outbound email |
| Send one-off emails, manage tasks | No | Sends from your connected mailbox |
| Query analytics | No | Emails, calls, meetings and sequences |

Apollo leaves out destructive bulk actions such as bulk delete. That limits the harm an agent can do by mistake.

## How do you connect Apollo MCP to Claude?

In Claude, you add Apollo.io from the connector directory and sign in with your Apollo work email. There is no developer setup, per [Apollo's guide to the Claude integration](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/43827318678541-Integrate-Apollo-with-Claude). The connector is in beta, and each person on a team sets it up for themselves.

### Claude on the web or Claude Desktop

1. Turn off model training in your Claude account. Apollo prohibits model training with its MCP integrations and asks you to do this first.
2. In Claude, click **Customize**, then **Connectors**.
3. Search for **Apollo.io** and click **Connect to Claude**.
4. Review the terms, click **Authorize** and sign in with a work email such as name@company.com. Gmail and Yahoo addresses are not supported.
5. Back in Connectors, set each Apollo action to **Always allow**, **Approval required** or **Blocked**. Apollo suggests approval for actions that use credits.
6. Start a new chat, click **+**, then **Connectors**, and toggle Apollo on.

Apollo says the Claude connector works on any Claude plan, free accounts included. Your Apollo permissions, plan limits and API rate limits still apply. If you can't do something in Apollo's web app, Claude can't do it either. For prompt ideas once you are connected, see our guide to [Claude for sales](https://enrich.chat/blog/claude-for-sales/).

### Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code

Claude Code adds the remote server with one command. You then run `/mcp` inside Claude Code to finish the OAuth sign-in.

```
claude mcp add --transport http apollo https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp
```

Cursor and VS Code take the same URL in an `mcp.json` file with `"type": "http"`, as shown in [Apollo's plugin README](https://github.com/apolloio/apollo-mcp-plugin). In ChatGPT, you connect Apollo from the apps directory.

### Headless agents and servers

A server, cron job or CI pipeline has no browser for OAuth. For those, Apollo accepts an API key in an `X-Api-Key` header. It must be a master key, because scoped keys get a 403 error. [Apollo's MCP docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp) also note that these requests act as your workspace's longest-standing active admin, and every call spends workspace credits. Treat that key like a password.

## Which Apollo plan do you need, and what does each call cost?

Apollo MCP costs nothing extra and runs on every Apollo plan, including Free. You pay for the plan and its credits. By our math from [Apollo's pricing page](https://www.apollo.io/pricing), a credit costs about 2 cents on any paid plan, so an email costs about $0.02 and a mobile about $0.16.

| Apollo plan | Price, billed annually | Credits per seat | What Apollo MCP can do |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | 900 a year, granted monthly | Saved contacts, single enrichment, sequences, analytics |
| Basic | $49 per seat per month | 30,000 a year | Adds database prospecting, bulk enrichment and company search |
| Professional | $79 per seat per month | 48,000 a year | Same actions, more credits |
| Organization | $119 per seat per month, 3 seats minimum | 72,000 a year | Same actions, more credits |

The plan rows come from Apollo's pricing page. The last column comes from [Apollo's MCP FAQ](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/45119679436557-Use-Apollo-MCP-with-AI-Tools-to-Run-Your-GTM-Workflow), which says paid plans add prospecting, bulk enrichment and company search. One more limit applies on Free: [accounts registered with a personal email](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp) can't use people or company search and enrichment at all.

Each action has its own credit price. [Apollo's API pricing page](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing) says people enrichment costs 1 credit for the profile and email, plus 8 credits if a mobile comes back. It charges only when it finds data. Company enrichment costs 1 credit, and company search costs 1 credit per page of up to 100 results.

**Figure 1: Apollo credits per action.** A bar chart of the credits Apollo charges per action through its API and MCP server. People search costs 0 credits. A work email costs 1 credit, about 2 cents. Adding a mobile costs 8 more credits, about 16 cents. Company enrichment costs 1 credit and company search 1 credit per page. A phone waterfall typically costs 8 to 25 credits.

*Credits Apollo charges per action through its API and MCP server. Dollar values are our math: the Basic plan is $588 per seat per year for 30,000 credits, about $0.0196 a credit. Sources: [Apollo API pricing](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing) and [Apollo pricing](https://www.apollo.io/pricing), checked October 15, 2026.*

That 2 cent rate holds only if you use every credit. Apollo grants credits at the start of each billing cycle, pools them across the team and lets unused ones expire, per the FAQ on [its pricing page](https://www.apollo.io/pricing). Add-on credits renew each cycle until you remove them. Our [Apollo pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-pricing/) covers plans and credits in more depth.

## Which community Apollo MCP servers are on GitHub?

Several open-source servers wrap Apollo's REST API as MCP tools. They run on your own computer, and each one needs your Apollo API key. We read four of the most-starred Apollo.io MCP servers on GitHub on October 15, 2026.

| Repository | Language | Tools | Last update |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [lkm1developer/apollo-io-mcp-server](https://github.com/lkm1developer/apollo-io-mcp-server) | TypeScript | 5: people and company search and enrichment, job postings | April 2025 |
| [thevgergroup/apollo-io-mcp](https://github.com/thevgergroup/apollo-io-mcp) | TypeScript | 9, adds bulk enrichment and news search. Ships a Claude Desktop bundle | October 2026 |
| [edwardchoh/apollo-io-mcp-server](https://github.com/edwardchoh/apollo-io-mcp-server) | Python | 5, the same core set | April 2025 |
| [Inferensys/apollo-io-mcp](https://github.com/Inferensys/apollo-io-mcp) | TypeScript | 45 listed, including sequences, deals and deletes | May 2026 |

A community server calls the same Apollo API, so the same plan and credit rules apply. API access can also depend on your plan. Apollo's pricing table ticks API enrichment and other APIs on every listed plan, but its FAQ says advanced or custom integrations need a Custom plan. [Apollo's API key docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/create-api-key) say access depends on your plan and point you to sales to confirm. Check **Settings, Integrations, API Keys** before you build on it. Our [Apollo API guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-api/) covers the endpoints and limits.

Read the code before you hand a community server a master key. Apollo does not review these projects. Some expose actions that Apollo's own server leaves out on purpose: the Inferensys README lists a tool that permanently deletes a contact.

### How to add a community server to Claude Desktop

Local servers live in Claude Desktop's config file. Open **Settings**, then **Developer**, then **Edit Config**. On a Mac, the file `claude_desktop_config.json` sits in `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/`, per the [MCP guide to local servers](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/develop/connect-local-servers). Many servers need Node.js installed. A typical entry looks like this, though the path and the key name differ by server:

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "apollo-io": {
      "command": "node",
      "args": ["/path/to/apollo-io-mcp/dist/index.js"],
      "env": { "APOLLO_API_KEY": "your_key_here" }
    }
  }
}
```

Save the file, then quit Claude Desktop fully and restart it. The VGER Group's server skips the manual edit: you open its `.mcpb` bundle in Claude Desktop and paste your key when asked.

**Figure 2: Steps to your first lookup, three ways.** Three columns compare setup. The official Apollo connector in Claude takes six steps, from turning off model training to toggling it on, and each user repeats them. A community Apollo MCP server in Claude Desktop takes six steps, from creating an API key to restarting Claude, and you maintain the code. Enrich.chat takes one step, adding its MCP server URL (or pasting one prompt), and you pick a monthly plan later only if the free lookups run out.

*Setup steps for each route, counted from each vendor's own instructions. ## Is Apollo MCP the same as Apollo GraphQL's MCP Server?

No. Apollo GraphQL's [Apollo MCP Server](https://www.apollographql.com/docs/apollo-mcp-server) is a developer tool that turns GraphQL API operations into MCP tools. It has nothing to do with Apollo.io's contact data. The two products share a name, and search results mix them up, so check which one a tutorial means.

- **Apollo.io MCP** is a hosted server at mcp.apollo.io. It gives an agent Apollo.io's people, company and outreach tools under your Apollo account.
- **Apollo GraphQL's MCP Server** is an open-source Rust project under the MIT license, on [GitHub](https://github.com/apollographql/apollo-mcp-server). You run it yourself in front of your own GraphQL API: as a binary, as a Docker image or with Rover's `rover dev` command, per [Apollo GraphQL's run guide](https://www.apollographql.com/docs/apollo-mcp-server/run).

A quick test: if a guide talks about schemas, operations, Rover or GraphOS, it is about the GraphQL tool. If it talks about leads, credits or sequences, it is about Apollo.io.

## How does the Enrich.chat alternative to Apollo MCP work?

Enrich.chat has its own remote MCP server at `https://enrich.chat/mcp`. It uses Streamable HTTP with no sign-in and no key, and its eight tools are read-only: `company_people`, `find_person_contact`, `find_work_email`, `find_mobile_number`, `search_people`, `company_tech_stack`, `company_profile` and `check_free_quota`. Claude Code adds it with one command, and there is no OAuth step to finish afterwards.

```
claude mcp add --transport http enrich https://enrich.chat/mcp
```

The [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click links for Cursor and VS Code, and steps for Claude as a custom connector, ChatGPT in developer mode and Codex. If you would rather not add a server, paste one prompt instead. The agent reads [enrich.chat/agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md), learns the endpoints and rules, and then calls a plain HTTPS API. Either way there is no Apollo account. You get 10 free lookups a day with no signup. For more volume there are monthly credit plans, Growth $29 for 100,000 credits, Scale $90 for 500,000 credits, Pro $299 for 2,500,000 credits, with unlimited seats. Credits are spent only on matches. To get a key, log in on the [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/) with your email and a one-time code, pick a plan and pay through checkout. The key appears on that page.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find 20 VPs of Sales at US SaaS companies with 50 to 500 employees, with verified work emails. Flag catch-all emails and only report what the API returns.
```

The prompt works in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Codex and any code that can send a GET request. With the MCP server connected, the same prompt makes the agent call the tools instead. In n8n, Make and Zapier you use the HTTP module. Our page on the [contact data API for AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/) has the setup notes for each one.

**Figure 3: Apollo MCP route and the Enrich.chat route.** Two ways to give an agent contact data. In the Apollo MCP route, an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor connects to Apollo's MCP server at mcp.apollo.io, which signs in to your Apollo account and spends plan credits. In the Enrich.chat route, any agent adds the MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp or sends HTTPS GET requests to the Enrich.chat API, with no sign-in, no key to start and unlimited seats.

*Apollo MCP puts a sign-in and an Apollo account between your agent and the data. Enrich.chat's MCP server and API need neither. Sources: [Apollo MCP docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp), the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) and [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

Each Apollo MCP job has a matching Enrich.chat endpoint, except the outreach tools. This table maps them.

| What you want | Apollo MCP action | Enrich.chat call |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Find people by title, company and place | Search for people, no contact details | `/v1/search?q=` in plain English, with filters. `with_email=true` adds verified emails |
| Email and mobile for one person | People enrichment | `/v1/person` with a LinkedIn URL, an email, or name plus company |
| A mobile only | People enrichment with phone | `/v1/mobile?linkedin_url=` |
| Company profile | Company enrichment | `/v1/company?domain=` |
| People at one company | People search with a company filter | `/v1/company/people?domain=&title=` |
| Sequences, emails and tasks | Sequence, email and task tools | Not offered |

Every field comes back with a status. `work_email.status` is verified, catch_all or unknown. `mobile.line` is mobile or unknown, which is the number's type, not proof that it works or belongs to the person. If nothing matches, the API returns `"found": false` and uses 0 credits. You can test a risky domain with the [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/), and see every field in the [people enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) reference.

When the free lookups run out, the API returns HTTP 402 `free_limit_reached` with an `upgrade_url` that points to the [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/). The agent stops, sends you the link and keeps track of the rows it finished, so it can pick up at the first unfinished row once you have a plan and a key. The key goes in an `Authorization: Bearer pp_...` header. Two more prompts to try:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to enrich this list of LinkedIn URLs with work emails and mobiles. Add the results as new columns, mark misses as not found, and tell me the total credits_used.
```

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find the head of sales at acmelogistics.com and get a verified work email. Only report what the API returns.
```

To see search results before you wire up an agent, try the free [AI lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/).

## How do Apollo MCP, community servers and Enrich.chat compare?

Apollo MCP is the better fit inside an Apollo workspace, and Enrich.chat is the lighter fit for contact data in any agent. Community servers sit in between: more setup, same Apollo bill. Apollo facts below are from Apollo's own pages, checked October 15, 2026.

|  | Apollo MCP (official) | Community servers | Enrich.chat |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Setup | Add a connector, sign in with OAuth | Install a runtime, edit a config, add an API key | Add the MCP URL, or paste one prompt |
| Account needed | Apollo account with a work email | Apollo account and API key | None to start; a log-in and a monthly plan for more volume |
| Works in | MCP clients and built-in connectors | MCP clients that run local servers | Any MCP client, or any agent or code that can send HTTPS |
| What it returns | People, companies, emails, phones, CRM records, analytics | Depends on the server | People, companies, work emails and mobiles, each with a status |
| Cost per email | 1 credit, about $0.02 | 1 credit | 10 credits ($0.0029 on Growth, if you use every credit) |
| Cost per mobile | 8 credits, about $0.16 | 8 credits | 250 credits ($0.0725 on Growth, if you use every credit) |
| Charged on a miss | No for enrichment. [Some waterfall vendors charge per lookup](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing) | Same as Apollo's API | No, 0 credits |
| Seats and contract | Per-seat plans, credits expire each cycle | Same as Apollo | Unlimited seats, billed monthly, cancel anytime |
| Writes to Apollo sequences, CRM and email | Yes | Some servers | No |
| Unattended agents | Master API key that acts as an admin | API key in an environment variable | Free tier, or an API key from a monthly plan |

Dollar costs for Apollo are our math at about $0.02 a credit on paid plans, if you use every credit. Enrich.chat costs are each plan's price divided by its credits, if you use every credit. Plans are Growth $29 for 100,000 credits, Scale $90 for 500,000 credits, Pro $299 for 2,500,000 credits; see the [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).

## When is Apollo MCP the better choice?

Apollo MCP is the better choice when Apollo is already your system of record. If your team pays for Apollo seats, the connector costs nothing extra, and the credits are already in your plan.

- **You run outreach in Apollo.** Apollo MCP can create sequences, enroll contacts, send one-off emails and manage tasks. Enrich.chat has no built-in sequencing or dialer.
- **You want Apollo's CRM and analytics in chat.** Apollo MCP reads and writes contacts, accounts and deals, and it answers questions about reply rates and call stats.
- **You need company search and hiring signals.** Apollo MCP offers company search on paid plans, plus company job postings.
- **You want one built-in connector.** Apollo's sits in the connector lists of ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Replit and Cursor. Enrich.chat's MCP server is added by URL, with steps on the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/), and its tools are read-only lookups.

Enrich.chat is the better fit when you want contact data in any agent without an Apollo seat. That includes AI SDRs you build yourself, unattended jobs, and teams that buy credits instead of seats. Teams that leave Apollo for cost reasons can compare more options in [Apollo alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/apollo/). The same trade-off applies to other vendors' servers, covered in [ZoomInfo MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-mcp/), [HubSpot MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/hubspot-mcp/) and [LinkedIn MCP servers](https://enrich.chat/blog/linkedin-mcp/).

## What should you check before you give an agent Apollo access?

Check credits, sending and keys before an agent touches your Apollo account. An agent works fast, so one wrong instruction can spend credits or email a whole list before you notice.

- **Require approval for credit actions.** Set enrichment and company search to "Approval required" in your connector settings, as [Apollo recommends](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/43827318678541-Integrate-Apollo-with-Claude).
- **Preview before you enroll.** Adding contacts to a sequence may start outbound email, so confirm the sequence, sender and list first, as the [plugin README](https://github.com/apolloio/apollo-mcp-plugin) advises.
- **Save what you need.** Enrichment results returned through MCP are not saved as Apollo contacts on their own, so they won't show up later in Apollo exports, per [Apollo's Claude guide](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/43827318678541-Integrate-Apollo-with-Claude).
- **Guard the master key.** A [master key](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/create-api-key) can reach every endpoint, and MCP calls made with it act as your workspace's longest-standing active admin.
- **Follow the rules for outreach.** You are responsible for CAN-SPAM, TCPA and GDPR, whether a person or an agent sends the message. Anyone can remove their data from Enrich.chat at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Apollo.io have an official MCP server?

Yes. Apollo.io hosts an official remote MCP server at https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP, so nothing runs on your computer. You can reach it through built-in connectors in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Replit and Cursor, or add the URL to any MCP client that supports remote servers and OAuth 2.0, such as Claude Code or VS Code. Headless clients can send a master API key instead. See [Apollo's MCP docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp).

### How do I connect Apollo to Claude?

First turn off model training in your Claude account, because Apollo requires it. Then open Customize, then Connectors, search for Apollo.io and click Connect to Claude. Authorize the connection and sign in with a work email, since Gmail and Yahoo addresses are not supported. Set each action to always allow, approval required or blocked. In a new chat, click +, then Connectors, and toggle Apollo on. [Apollo's Claude guide](https://knowledge.apollo.io/hc/en-us/articles/43827318678541-Integrate-Apollo-with-Claude) has the full steps.

### Is Apollo MCP free?

Connecting is free, and Apollo MCP works on every Apollo plan, including Free. Your plan and credits still apply. People search uses no credits, but enrichment does: 1 credit for an email and 8 more for a mobile, per [Apollo's API pricing](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing). The Free plan includes 900 credits a year, granted monthly, and cannot prospect Apollo's full database or bulk-enrich. Paid plans start at $49 per seat per month, billed annually.

### Is Apollo MCP Server the same as Apollo GraphQL's MCP Server?

No. Apollo GraphQL's Apollo MCP Server is an open-source developer tool that turns GraphQL API operations into MCP tools. You run it yourself as a binary, as a Docker image or with the Rover CLI. It has nothing to do with Apollo.io's sales data. If a guide mentions GraphQL, Rover or GraphOS, it is about [the GraphQL tool](https://www.apollographql.com/docs/apollo-mcp-server), not Apollo.io's server at mcp.apollo.io.

### Can I use Apollo MCP without an Apollo account?

No. Every way to use Apollo MCP, official or community, runs on an Apollo account. The official server needs an OAuth sign-in with a work email or a master API key, and community servers need an Apollo API key. If you only want contact data in an agent, Enrich.chat has an MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp that needs no account to start. You get 10 free lookups a day with no signup, and for more volume you can log in on the [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/) and pick a [monthly credit plan](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) from $29 a month.

### Does Apollo MCP return email addresses and phone numbers?

Only after enrichment. Apollo's people search returns names, titles and companies with no emails or phone numbers, and it uses no credits. To get contact details, ask the agent to enrich the results. People enrichment costs 1 credit for the email and profile, plus 8 credits when a mobile is returned, and Apollo charges only when it finds data. Results are not saved as Apollo contacts unless you save them.
