# The best data enrichment tools in 2026: 10 picks for AI agents, waterfalls, databases and CRMs

We grouped ten data enrichment tools by how you use them, checked every price on the vendor's own site on October 15, 2026, and worked out what 1,000 enriched contacts cost on each.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** The best data enrichment tool depends on where the data has to go. For AI agents and apps, Enrich.chat is the top pick: one prompt, a work email and a mobile with a status on each, and credits spent only on matches. Clay, FullEnrich and BetterContact lead for waterfalls, [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) for data plus outreach from $49 a seat a month billed yearly, and HubSpot for enrichment inside its CRM.

## Key takeaways

- Data enrichment tools come in four types: agent and API tools, waterfalls, all-in-one databases and CRM-native enrichment. The type decides how you work and how you pay.
- At published monthly rates on October 15, 2026, a work email and a mobile for 1,000 contacts cost about $46.80 pro-rated on Enrich.chat (the Scale plan, $90 a month), $234 on Apollo Basic, $439 on BetterContact, $528 on FullEnrich and $699 on Lusha Pro.
- ZoomInfo and Cognism publish no prices. Vendr's buyer data puts the median ZoomInfo contract at $33,500 a year.
- Misses cost nothing on Enrich.chat, Clay, FullEnrich and BetterContact, but Lusha's API uses at least 1 credit on a request with no results.
- HubSpot's built-in enrichment comes with paid seats, but it fills job and company fields, not work emails or mobile numbers.

## The verdict

For teams that want contact data inside an AI agent, an app or a workflow, **Enrich.chat** is the best data enrichment tool: one prompt, a status on every field, and credits are spent only on matches.

- Best overall: Enrich.chat (One prompt in any agent, credits for matches only)
- Best for custom workflows: Clay (150+ providers in a table you control)
- Best waterfall for mobiles: BetterContact (Billed only for valid results)
- Best all-in-one: Apollo (Data, sequences and a dialer in one seat)
- Best inside HubSpot: HubSpot Breeze (Included with paid HubSpot seats)

## How did we choose and rank these data enrichment tools?

We ranked ten tools for one reader: a team that wants contact data inside an AI agent, an app or a sales workflow, and wants to know what it will pay. Every fact on this page comes from the vendor's own pricing page, docs or terms, checked on October 15, 2026. We did not run test lookups or score anyone's data quality, because a small test cannot do that fairly.

We compared each tool on seven points:

1. **How you use it.** A prompt or API call, a table, a web app with seats, or your CRM.
2. **Price model and entry price.** Credits for matches, credits plus a plan, seats plus credits, or a quote.
3. **What a miss costs.** Whether a lookup that finds no one still uses credits.
4. **Contact data.** Work emails and mobile numbers, and what each costs in credits.
5. **Verification.** Whether the vendor checks each email and phone and tells you the result.
6. **API and AI agent access.** A plain API, an MCP server, or connectors for ChatGPT and Claude.
7. **Terms.** Free tier, seat fees, credit expiry and annual contracts.

When a vendor hides a price, we say so. When a page does not state a rule, the table says "Not stated". Enrich.chat is our product, so we list two real gaps next to its strengths, and we name the jobs where another tool is the better buy.

## What are the four types of data enrichment tools?

Data enrichment tools come in four types, and the type decides how you work and how you pay. Agent and API tools answer one lookup at a time. Waterfalls ask many providers in turn. All-in-one databases sell search and outreach by the seat. CRM-native enrichment fills fields on records you already store.

**Figure 1: The four types of data enrichment tools, by how you use them.** Four rows. Agent and API-native tools, Enrich.chat and People Data Labs, work from your AI agent or code, answer in the same request and spend credits on matches. Waterfalls, Clay, FullEnrich and BetterContact, work from a table or a bulk job, ask providers in turn and bill credits plus a plan. All-in-one databases, Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism and Lusha, work in a web app and bill seats plus credits. CRM-native enrichment, HubSpot Breeze Intelligence, fills fields on CRM records and comes with CRM seats.

- **Agent and API-native: Enrich.chat and People Data Labs.** You send a key, such as a LinkedIn URL, an email or a name plus company, and get a record back in the same request. This suits AI agents, sign-up forms and scripts. [People Data Labs' API docs](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-person-enrichment-api) say it charges per match, and an Enrich.chat lookup uses 0 credits when `found` is false.
- **Waterfall: Clay, FullEnrich and BetterContact.** The tool asks one provider after another until one returns a valid result. [Clay](https://www.clay.com/pricing) lets you set that order yourself across 150+ providers. FullEnrich and BetterContact run a managed waterfall for you. Our guide to [waterfall enrichment](https://enrich.chat/blog/waterfall-enrichment/) explains when the extra providers pay off.
- **All-in-one database: Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism and Lusha.** You search the vendor's own database, reveal contacts with credits, and often email or call from the same app. Prices are per seat or by quote.
- **CRM-native: HubSpot Breeze Intelligence.** Enrichment runs inside the CRM on contacts and companies you already have. [HubSpot's knowledge base](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment) says it matches contacts on first name, last name and work email, and companies on domain.

The types overlap. Apollo, Lusha and Cognism also sell API access, and Clay, Apollo, ZoomInfo, Lusha and Cognism all offer MCP access for AI assistants. For the basics, read [what data enrichment is](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-data-enrichment/).

## How much do 1,000 enriched contacts cost on each tool?

Adding a work email and a mobile number to 1,000 contacts takes 260,000 Enrich.chat credits, which is $46.80 pro-rated at its Scale plan rate, and every row with no match lowers that. The plan itself is $90 a month. At each vendor's published monthly rate on October 15, 2026, the same list costs about $234 on Apollo Basic, $439 on BetterContact, $528 on FullEnrich, $699 on Lusha Pro, and $300 to $1,000 in Clay Data Credits. ZoomInfo and Cognism publish no prices.

**Figure 2: Cost of a work email and a mobile for 1,000 contacts.** Bar chart of the cost to add a work email and a mobile number to 1,000 contacts at each vendor's published monthly rate on October 15, 2026: Enrich.chat about $46.80 pro-rated at its Scale plan rate (the plan is $90 a month), Apollo Basic about $234, People Data Labs about $280 at its entry rate, BetterContact Pro about $439, FullEnrich Pro about $528, Lusha Pro about $699, and Clay Launch $300 to $1,000 in Data Credits. ZoomInfo and Cognism do not publish prices; Vendr puts the median ZoomInfo contract at $33,500 a year.

*Pro-rated cost at each vendor's published monthly rate, if every contact returns both fields. Plan fees, seat minimums and unused credits are not counted, and misses would lower most of these bills. Enrich.chat is priced at its Scale plan's credit rate, while the plan itself is $90 a month. People Data Labs is per record at its entry rate, with contact fields when it has them; Clay excludes Actions. | Tool | What 1,000 contacts use | Pro-rated cost | What you also buy |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Enrich.chat | 260,000 credits: 10 per email, 250 per mobile | $46.80 | The Scale plan: 500,000 credits for $90 a month, unlimited seats |
| [Apollo Basic](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) | 9,000 credits: 1 per email, 8 per phone | $234 | Seats: 4 seats bring 10,000 credits for $260 a month |
| [People Data Labs Pro](https://www.peopledatalabs.com/pricing/person) | 1,000 records | About $280 | A Pro plan, from $98 a month for 350 credits |
| [BetterContact Pro](https://bettercontact.rocks/pricing/) | 11,000 credits: 1 per email, 10 per mobile | $439 | The 20,000-credit plan, $799 a month |
| [FullEnrich Pro](https://fullenrich.com/pricing.md) | 11,000 credits: 1 per email, 10 per mobile | $528 | The 15,000-credit plan, $720 a month |
| [Lusha Pro](https://www.lusha.com/pricing/) | 6,000 credits: 1 per email, 5 per phone | $699 | Pro has 600 credits a month; you add the rest |
| [Clay Launch](https://www.clay.com/pricing) | 6,000 to 20,000 Data Credits, plus Actions | $300 to $1,000 | Launch, from $185 a month |
| [ZoomInfo](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing) | Credits by license | Not published | A sales contract |
| [Cognism](https://www.cognism.com/pricing) | 1 credit per revealed contact | Not published | A plan with 5 seats |
| [HubSpot Breeze](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) | No work emails or mobiles | Not possible | Paid HubSpot seats |

How the main numbers are worked out:

- **Apollo:** [Apollo Basic](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) gives 2,500 credits a seat for $65 a month, about $0.026 a credit. An email is 1 credit and a phone is 8, so 1,000 contacts use 9,000 credits.
- **BetterContact and FullEnrich:** both charge 1 credit per email and 10 per mobile, so 11,000 credits. [BetterContact](https://bettercontact.rocks/pricing/) sells 20,000 credits for $799 a month, and [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing.md) sells 15,000 for $720.
- **Lusha:** [an email and a phone use up to 6 credits](https://docs.lusha.com/user-guide/usage-analytics/how-credits-are-counted). [Lusha Pro](https://www.lusha.com/pricing/) is $69.90 a month for 600 credits, about $0.117 each.
- **Clay:** [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) say a fully enriched record typically costs 6 to 20 Data Credits, and [credits start at $0.05](https://www.clay.com/pricing).
- **People Data Labs:** [Pro starts at $98 a month for 350 credits](https://www.peopledatalabs.com/pricing/person), or $0.28 a record. Records include emails and phones when PDL has them.

Read these as list-price arithmetic, not quotes. They assume every contact returns both fields, and most of these tools also skip charges on misses, so real bills run lower. But a plan fee is due whether you use its credits or not, and [Apollo's credits](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) expire at the end of each billing cycle. Enrich.chat is a monthly plan too: the Scale plan costs $90 a month, and this list uses 260,000 of its 500,000 credits. Its Growth plan, $29 for 100,000 credits, fits smaller jobs. See [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/), our [Apollo pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-pricing/) and the [Clay pricing breakdown](https://enrich.chat/blog/clay-pricing/).

## Which data enrichment tools charge when no data is found?

Most tools on this list charge nothing when a lookup finds no one, but the exceptions add up at volume. Check the miss rule before you compare prices: a cheap credit that bills every attempt can cost more per contact found than a dearer one that bills only hits.

| Tool | When nothing is found | What counts as a billable result |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Enrich.chat | 0 credits when `found` is false | Each field found; every response shows `credits_used` |
| People Data Labs | [Charged per match](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-person-enrichment-api) | A matched person record |
| Clay | [No Data Credits or Actions](https://www.clay.com/faq/do-unsuccessful-searches-consume-data-credits-what-about-actions), even when a whole waterfall misses | Data a provider returns |
| FullEnrich | [0 credits](https://docs.fullenrich.com/api/v2/general/credit) | Deliverable, high-probability or catch-all emails, and found mobiles |
| BetterContact | [Not charged](https://doc.bettercontact.rocks/api-reference/credits) | One charge per valid result, not per provider tried |
| Apollo | [People enrichment is charged only when data is found](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing) | Some waterfall vendors bill per lookup, even on a miss |
| Lusha | [An API request uses at least 1 credit](https://docs.lusha.com/user-guide/usage-analytics/how-credits-are-counted) | 1 credit per email and 5 per phone revealed |
| Cognism | Only reveals use credits | [1 credit per revealed contact](https://www.cognism.com/pricing); viewing it again is free |
| ZoomInfo GTM AI | Nothing: a "No match" result uses no credit, per [ZoomInfo's credit guide](https://docs.gtm.ai/docs/credit-usage-and-limits) | 1 data credit per contact enriched |
| HubSpot Breeze | No per-lookup charge | [Included with paid seats](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment); no HubSpot Credits used |

Also ask what counts as "found". [FullEnrich](https://docs.fullenrich.com/api/v2/general/credit) charges for catch-all emails, and [BetterContact](https://doc.bettercontact.rocks/api-reference/credits) charges for them unless its catch-all check is on. A catch-all domain accepts mail for any address, so no checker can prove one inbox exists. Test risky domains with the free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/).

## What should you check before you buy a data enrichment tool?

Run five checks before you sign: match keys, the miss rule, a status on every field, the contract, and compliance. A short test on your own rows answers most of them in an afternoon.

1. **Match keys you already hold.** List the identifiers in your CRM or sheet: LinkedIn URLs, work emails, names plus companies, or domains. [HubSpot's enrichment](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) needs a business email and skips Gmail and Yahoo addresses. [People Data Labs](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-person-enrichment-api) takes an email, a profile URL, a phone or a name. Enrich.chat takes a LinkedIn URL, an email, or a name plus company, and never logs in to LinkedIn.
2. **Whether you pay for misses.** Use the table above. Then divide the bill by verified results, not by rows sent, to get your real cost per contact.
3. **A verification status on every field.** A found email is not a valid email. Ask what status each email and phone carries. [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing.md) adds a confidence score, [BetterContact](https://doc.bettercontact.rocks/api-reference/credits) marks emails deliverable or catch-all safe, and Enrich.chat returns the fields in Figure 3. A line type of mobile describes the number, not who owns it or whether it is live, so test numbers with the [phone number validator](https://enrich.chat/tools/phone-number-validator/).
4. **Contract and credit terms.** [ZoomInfo's license terms](https://www.zoominfo.com/legal/ltc) say an agreement is not cancellable. [Cognism's terms](https://www.cognism.com/customer-terms/gtc) renew an order for the longer of its first term or a year unless you give 60 days' notice. [Apollo's annual billing](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) commits you to 12 months, while [Lusha](https://www.lusha.com/pricing/) lets you cancel any time. Enrich.chat plans are billed monthly with no annual contract, and you can cancel anytime.
5. **Compliance.** The [UK ICO](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/) says a work email that identifies a person is personal data, and that the right to object to direct marketing is absolute. In California, the CCPA's business-to-business exemption [expired on December 31, 2022](https://oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa). Ask each vendor how it handles opt-outs. Anyone can opt out of Enrich.chat at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), processed within 15 days, and you stay responsible for TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR rules. This is general information, not legal advice.

**Figure 3: What a per-field status looks like in an enrichment response.** A trimmed Enrich.chat person response with four labels. found shows whether there was a match, and found false uses 0 credits. work_email.status is verified, catch_all or unknown. mobile.line is mobile or unknown, which describes the number's type, not whether the line is live. credits_used is the credits the call used: 10 for the email plus 250 for the mobile.

*A trimmed Enrich.chat person response. Ask any vendor for the same four things: a match flag, a status on each email, a type on each phone, and what the call cost. Source: [Enrich.chat agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

Store the status next to each value, so your outreach tool can skip risky rows. The [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) page shows the full response.

## When is another data enrichment tool the better choice?

Choose another tool when you need a table builder, outreach in the same app, intent data, or enrichment that never leaves your CRM. Each pick below has a real edge, based on its own pages as of October 15, 2026.

| If you mainly need | Better choice | Why |

Enrich.chat has two real gaps. It has no visual table builder, sequencing or dialer, so you bring your own spreadsheet, CRM or outreach tool. And it has no SDKs yet, so you call the plain HTTPS API or the MCP server while SDKs are still planned. If you need a table or a dialer now, Clay or Apollo is the better buy. For deeper comparisons, see our [Clay alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clay/), [ZoomInfo alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/zoominfo/), [Apollo vs ZoomInfo](https://enrich.chat/compare/apollo-vs-zoominfo/) and the [best B2B data providers](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-b2b-data-providers/). HubSpot users who need emails and mobiles too can read how to [enrich HubSpot contacts with Enrich.chat](https://enrich.chat/integrations/hubspot/).

## How do you test a data enrichment tool on your own list?

Test every shortlisted tool on rows you already know before you buy. Pick contacts whose email and phone you have confirmed, run the same rows through each tool, and compare what comes back and what it costs.

1. Pick 10 rows with a LinkedIn URL, an email or a name plus company. Include a few people who changed jobs this year.
2. Run the same rows through each tool. Record the status each one gives every email and phone.
3. Count verified, catch-all and not-found results, then divide each bill by the verified results.
4. Read the terms you would sign: seats, credit expiry, contract length and opt-out handling.

With Enrich.chat you can run step 2 without an account. Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to test enrichment on these rows: add a work email and a mobile to each one, keep my columns, add email_status and mobile_line columns, mark misses as not found, and tell me how many matched and the total credits_used: [paste rows]
```

The first 10 lookups each day are free. When you reach the limit, the API returns a 402 `free_limit_reached` with an upgrade link to your [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), and your agent can carry on after the daily reset or once you have a plan. There you log in with your email and a one-time code, pick Growth, Scale or Pro, pay through checkout, and your API key appears. To check one profile in the browser first, use the free [LinkedIn email and phone finder](https://enrich.chat/tools/linkedin-email-finder/). To build a new list from a plain English description, try the [AI lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/), or read how [Enrich.chat works with AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best data enrichment tool?

It depends on where the data has to go. For AI agents, apps and buyers who want credits spent only on matches, Enrich.chat is the best pick: one prompt in ChatGPT or Claude, a status on every email and mobile, and 0 credits for misses. Clay leads for custom waterfalls, [Apollo](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) for data plus outreach in one seat, ZoomInfo for enterprise intent data, and HubSpot's built-in enrichment for records already in HubSpot.

### Is there a free data enrichment tool?

Yes, several have free tiers. Enrich.chat gives every IP address 10 API lookups a day with no signup. [Apollo's free plan](https://www.apollo.io/pricing) includes 75 credits a seat a month, [Lusha](https://www.lusha.com/pricing/) 40 credits a month, and [Clay](https://www.clay.com/pricing) 100 Data Credits a month without phone numbers. [ZoomInfo Lite](https://www.zoominfo.com/faqs/community-edition) is free with a business email, and People Data Labs gives 100 credits a month with contact fields hidden. We checked each on October 15, 2026.

### What are the top data enrichment companies?

The best-known data enrichment companies in 2026 fall into four groups. ZoomInfo, Apollo, Cognism and Lusha sell their own contact databases by seat or by quote. Clay, FullEnrich and BetterContact run waterfalls across many providers. People Data Labs and Enrich.chat sell enrichment by API. HubSpot builds enrichment into its CRM, after it [agreed to buy Clearbit](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1404655/000095017023057150/hubs-ex99_1.htm) on November 1, 2023. Compare them on how you work, not on brand.

### Which data enrichment tools work with ChatGPT or Claude?

Most major tools now do. [Apollo](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/apollo-mcp) has built-in connectors for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and [ZoomInfo](https://www.zoominfo.com/solutions/zoominfo-mcp), [Cognism](https://docs.cognism.com/docs/mcp-server), [Clay](https://www.clay.com/mcp) and [FullEnrich](https://fullenrich.com/pricing.md) offer MCP servers. These need an account and a connector setup. Enrich.chat has an MCP server too, at enrich.chat/mcp, with no account, sign-in or key: add it from the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/), or paste a prompt that points your agent to enrich.chat/agents.md. For ideas, see our [ChatGPT lead generation prompts](https://enrich.chat/blog/chatgpt-lead-generation-prompts/).

### Do data enrichment tools charge when no data is found?

Most do not, but check each one before you compare prices. [Clay](https://www.clay.com/faq/do-unsuccessful-searches-consume-data-credits-what-about-actions), [FullEnrich](https://docs.fullenrich.com/api/v2/general/credit) and [BetterContact](https://doc.bettercontact.rocks/api-reference/credits) charge nothing for a miss, and [People Data Labs](https://docs.peopledatalabs.com/docs/reference-person-enrichment-api) charges per match. [Lusha's API](https://docs.lusha.com/user-guide/usage-analytics/how-credits-are-counted) uses at least 1 credit per request even with no results, and [Apollo's docs](https://docs.apollo.io/docs/api-pricing) warn that some waterfall vendors bill per lookup. A lookup that returns found: false uses 0 Enrich.chat credits.

### What happened to Clearbit?

HubSpot [agreed to buy Clearbit](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1404655/000095017023057150/hubs-ex99_1.htm) on November 1, 2023, and launched [Breeze Intelligence](https://hubspot.com/company-news/spotlight-product-deep-dive-the-complete-customer-picture-with-breeze-intelligence-hubspots-new-data-enrichment-and-buyer-intent-solution), its data enrichment and buyer intent product, on September 18, 2024. [HubSpot's docs](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment) now describe it as data enrichment on paid plans, and it uses no HubSpot Credits. It fills job and company fields, not contact emails or mobiles. For an API you can call from your own code, see our [Clearbit alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clearbit/).
