# Claude for sales in 2026: workflows, prompts and verified contact data

What Claude does for prospecting, call prep and CRM work on each plan, ten prompts you can copy, and how to give it checked contacts instead of guesses.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** Sales teams use Claude to research accounts, map buying committees, prep calls, draft outreach and update the CRM, with [web search on every plan](https://claude.com/pricing) and connectors for HubSpot, Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Apollo and Clay. Claude has no contact database, so an email it gives from memory can be a plausible guess. Get work emails and mobiles, each with a status, from a tool call, such as Enrich.chat's MCP server or API.

## Key takeaways

- Anthropic's Sales plugin and Salesforce in Claude (in beta since September 15, 2026) cover account research, call prep, call summaries, pipeline review and CRM updates.
- Web search, projects, connectors, skills and file creation are on every Claude plan. Research, Claude Code and Claude in Chrome start on Pro at $17 a month billed yearly.
- Claude has no contact database. Asked for an email from memory, it can return a plausible address that nobody checked.
- Enrich.chat connects as a custom connector or with one prompt in Claude Code: work emails at 10 credits each, and 0 credits when nothing is found.
- CAN-SPAM, the TCPA and LinkedIn's User Agreement apply to outreach Claude drafts, just as they do to a rep's.

## What can Claude do for a sales team in 2026?

Claude can research accounts, map buying committees, prep and summarize calls, draft outreach and update your CRM. [Anthropic's page for sales teams](https://claude.com/solutions/sales) says Claude returns account briefs, proposal decks and forecasts with citations linked to sources. It lists connectors for Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Fireflies, Clay, ZoomInfo, Apollo, Outreach and Docusign, plus your email and calendar.

Three releases shape how sellers use Claude this fall. Anthropic's open-source [Sales plugin](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales) has 36 skills in version 2.0, from call prep to forecasts, and [every command works with just web search and your input](https://claude.com/marketplace/plugins/sales) when nothing is connected. On September 15, 2026, Anthropic released [Salesforce in Claude](https://claude.com/resources/articles/salesforce-in-claude) in beta, with 37 skills, on all paid plans. A day later, [Claude Cowork and chat merged into one Claude](https://claude.com/resources/articles/cowork-is-now-claude), rolling out to Pro and Max first.

The table below maps each Claude feature to the sales job it does. Plan details come from [Anthropic's pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing) and the help center articles on [web search](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/10684626-enable-and-use-web-search), [projects](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/9517075-what-are-projects), [connectors](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) and [file creation](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12111783-create-and-edit-files-with-claude), checked on October 15, 2026.

| Claude feature | Sales job | Plans (October 15, 2026) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Web search | Account news, filings and job posts, with citations | All plans, including Free |
| Research | Longer briefs built from many sources | Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise |
| Projects | Keep your ICP, playbooks and best emails in one place | All plans (Free: up to 5). Sharing on Team and Enterprise |
| Connectors (MCP) | CRM, enrichment, email and calendar inside the chat | All plans. Free: one custom connector |
| Skills and plugins | Call prep, call summaries, pipeline review, forecasts | Skills on all plans |
| File creation | Lead lists in Excel, decks, one-pagers, PDFs | All plans |
| Scheduled tasks | A brief before each day's meetings | Pro and above |
| Claude in Chrome | Work inside web apps that have no API | All paid plans ([Chrome page](https://claude.com/claude-in-chrome)) |
| Claude Code | Bulk enrichment, scripts and API calls | Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise |
| Claude for Microsoft 365 | Proposals in PowerPoint, RFP answers in Word | Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise |
| @Claude (beta) | Deal updates when tagged in a team channel | Team and Enterprise |
| Salesforce in Claude (beta) | Briefs, pipeline and CRM updates from Salesforce | All paid plans ([announcement](https://claude.com/resources/articles/salesforce-in-claude)) |

## Which Claude plan does a sales team need?

A single rep can run every workflow on this page with Claude Pro. A team that shares playbooks and connectors should use the Team plan. [Anthropic's pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing) lists these prices, before tax, on October 15, 2026.

| Plan | Price | What it adds for sales |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | Web search, file creation, connectors, up to 5 projects |
| Pro | $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly ($200) | Research, Claude Code, Claude in Chrome, scheduled tasks |
| Max | From $100 a month | 5x or 20x the usage of Pro |
| Team | $25 per seat monthly, or $20 billed yearly. Premium seats $125 or $100 | Shared projects, SSO, admin controls for connectors, @Claude |
| Enterprise | $20 per seat a month, billed yearly, 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates | Audit logs, SCIM, role-based access, Compliance API |

The Team plan covers 2 to 150 users, and you can mix standard and premium seats. Shared projects are only on Team and Enterprise, [according to the help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/9517075-what-are-projects), so the Team plan is how one sales playbook reaches every rep. On Team and Enterprise, Anthropic does not train models on your content by default. Free accounts cannot use Research, Claude Code or Claude in Chrome.

## Can Claude find email addresses and phone numbers on its own?

No. Claude has no built-in contact database, so it cannot look up a work email or a mobile number by itself. Ask from memory and it may give a plausible pattern, such as `j.doe@acmelogistics.com`, that nobody checked. The 2025 paper [Why Language Models Hallucinate](https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.04664) argues that models guess when unsure because training and tests reward guessing over admitting doubt.

Web search does not close the gap. Claude's [web search](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/10684626-enable-and-use-web-search) grounds answers in live pages and cites every source, which suits news, filings and job posts. But a page that shows an email address does not prove the mailbox works today. Nothing on a web page tells you whether a phone line is live, either.

[Anthropic's guide to reducing hallucinations](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/test-and-evaluate/strengthen-guardrails/reduce-hallucinations) gives three fixes for any sales prompt. Let Claude say "I don't know." Limit it to the sources you give it. Make it cite a source for each claim and drop any claim it cannot support. The guide adds that these steps reduce hallucinations but do not end them. For contact data, the reliable fix is a tool call that returns the address with a status. Our guide on [how to find anyone's work email](https://enrich.chat/blog/how-to-find-someones-email/) covers the manual methods.

**Figure 1: What Claude can and cannot do alone for sales.** Six sales tasks compared. Claude alone, with its built-in web search, can research news, filings and job posts, rank accounts against an ideal customer profile, and write first lines and emails. Alone it can only guess a work email, and it cannot find a mobile number or read the CRM. With a tool call, the work email comes back with a status, the mobile comes back with a line type, and a connector reads and updates the CRM.

*"Claude alone" means the Claude app with its built-in web search and no connectors. Research and writing work on their own. Contact data and CRM records need a tool call. Sources: [Claude Help Center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/10684626-enable-and-use-web-search), [Anthropic's hallucination guide](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/test-and-evaluate/strengthen-guardrails/reduce-hallucinations).*

## How do you use Claude for prospecting and list building?

Use Claude for prospecting in a fixed order: research the account, map the roles, find the people, then check their contact data. Run every step in one Claude project that holds your ICP, product one-pager and best emails, so each chat starts with that context. Projects are on every plan, and [Free accounts get up to five](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/9517075-what-are-projects).

**Figure 2: A Claude prospecting workflow, from account to reviewed draft.** Six steps in order. You pick the account. Claude researches news, filings and job posts, maps who signs, uses and blocks the purchase, and later drafts a first line from the research. Only step four, getting a checked work email and mobile, needs a tool call to a contact data API. You review and approve every message before it is sent.

*A prospecting run in Claude. Claude does the research and writing, the contact step needs a data tool, and you own the first and last step. Based on [Anthropic's Sales plugin docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales) and [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

### 1. Build an account research brief

An account brief should give you sourced facts, not adjectives. Ask Claude for the last 90 days of news, open roles and likely priorities, with a source on every line. On a paid plan, turn on Research for a longer brief built from more sources. To see the software an account runs, try the free [tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/).

```text
Research [company domain] with web search. Write a one-page account brief: what they sell, size and HQ, news from the last 90 days, open sales and RevOps roles, and two likely priorities for a buyer of [your product category]. Cite a source for every fact. If you cannot find something, write not found. Do not guess.
```

### 2. Map the buying committee

Ask Claude for roles before names. Mapping who signs, who uses and who blocks a purchase is reasoning Claude does well. Names and titles change, so they need a live check later. For deals already in your CRM, the Sales plugin's `stakeholder-map` skill maps roles, influence and who is missing, per [Anthropic's plugin docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales).

```text
Using the account brief, map the buying committee for [your product] at [company]. List the roles that usually sign, use, evaluate and block a purchase like this. For each role, give the job titles to search for and the one question that role cares about most. Do not name people. Mark any role you are unsure of.
```

### 3. Build a target list

Claude can build an account list from web search, with a reason and a source for each company. Ask it to leave out any company it cannot back with a source. For a list of people with filters such as title, seniority, headcount and country, Enrich.chat's `/v1/search` endpoint takes a plain-English query. Try it first in the free [AI lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/).

```text
Find 25 companies that match this ICP: [industry], [country], [employee range], showing [a trigger, such as hiring SDRs or a new funding round]. Use web search. Return a table with company, domain, why it fits and a source link. Leave out any company you cannot back with a source.
```

### 4. Enrich the list with verified contacts

Enrichment is the step Claude cannot do alone. With Enrich.chat connected, Claude calls the API and reports each work email as verified, catch_all or unknown, and each mobile with a line of mobile or unknown. A miss comes back as not found and uses 0 credits. A catch-all domain accepts any address, and the free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/) shows why those emails are risky.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find the VP of Sales and the head of RevOps at [company domain] with work emails. Flag catch-all emails, say not found for anything the API does not return, and tell me the total credits_used.
```

## How do you use Claude for outreach, call prep and CRM work?

Claude writes well when you give it sourced facts and tell it what not to say. These four workflows reuse the account brief and contact list from the prospecting steps above, and each prompt works on any Claude plan, including Free.

### 5. Write personalized first lines

A good first line points to one real fact about the account. Tell Claude to use only facts from the brief and to skip a contact when there is nothing worth saying. That rule keeps made-up compliments out of your emails. For more templates, see [50 lead generation prompts for ChatGPT and Claude](https://enrich.chat/blog/chatgpt-lead-generation-prompts/).

```text
Write a first line for each contact in this table. Use only the cited facts in the account brief. Keep each line under 25 words, and do not praise or mention anything you cannot source. If there is no usable fact for a contact, write skip.
```

### 6. Prep for a call

Call prep works best inside your sales project, where Claude can read product notes and past emails. [Anthropic describes](https://claude.com/solutions/sales) a scheduled task that reads your calendar each morning and sends a brief with attendee bios, open HubSpot deals, company news and three talking points. Scheduled tasks start on the Pro plan, [per Anthropic's pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing).

```text
Prep me for a 30-minute discovery call with [name, title] at [company] tomorrow. Use the account brief, the files in this project and web search. Give me a five-line summary, three questions about their priorities, the two objections I am most likely to hear, and a good next step to ask for.
```

### 7. Clean up the CRM

Start CRM cleanup read-only. Export open opportunities to CSV, or connect the [HubSpot connector](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/hubspot), and ask for proposed fixes before Claude changes anything. The Sales plugin's `crm-hygiene-check` skill is a read-only audit for missing fields, stale dates and stage mismatches, [according to its docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales).

```text
Here is a CSV export of our open opportunities. Find rows with no next step, close dates in the past, stages that do not match the last activity, and duplicate accounts. Return a table of proposed fixes with the reason for each. Do not change any records yet.
```

### 8. Handle objections

Objection handling in Claude is only as good as the proof you give it. Put case studies, pricing rules and win notes in the project, then ask for replies that cite them. The Sales plugin's `handle-objection` skill does the same with proof points from your own deal history, per [Anthropic's plugin docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales).

```text
A prospect said: [objection]. Using the case studies, pricing notes and win notes in this project, give me three honest replies: one that asks a question, one that offers proof, and one that reframes the cost. Use only proof points from the files, and flag any claim I should check.
```

## How do you connect verified contact data to Claude?

You can connect Enrich.chat to Claude in two ways. The first is its remote MCP server at `https://enrich.chat/mcp`, which needs no sign-in and no key. In Claude on the web or desktop, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the URL. In Claude Code, one command adds it. The [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has every step.

```
claude mcp add --transport http enrich https://enrich.chat/mcp
```

The second is one prompt in Claude Code. Claude Code reads [enrich.chat/agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md), learns the endpoints and rules, and calls the API with curl. There is no SDK to install, and SDKs are planned.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find the work email and mobile for Jane Doe at acme.com
```

Claude Code is the easiest place to start. In a terminal, it [runs commands on your own computer](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/overview), and it comes with Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. In the Claude app, code runs in a sandbox that reaches only the domains your [network egress settings](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12111783-create-and-edit-files-with-claude) allow, and on Team and Enterprise an owner sets that list. Claude's [web fetch tool](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/agents-and-tools/tool-use/web-fetch-tool) also opens only URLs that already appear in the conversation, so keep the agents.md link in your message.

1. Open Claude Code in any folder and paste the onboarding prompt above.
2. Ask for what you need, such as the prompt below.
3. Read the status on every field. `work_email.status` is verified, catch_all or unknown, and `mobile.line` is mobile or unknown.
4. At the free limit of 10 lookups a day, the API returns HTTP 402 with an upgrade link. Claude stops, shares the link, and resumes from the first unfinished row after the daily reset or once you give it your `pp_` key.

After the free tier, Enrich.chat sells monthly credit plans from $29, with unlimited seats and no annual contract. A work email found uses 10 credits, a mobile 250 and a profile 5. Nothing found uses 0. See the [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/), the [guide for AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/) and the [people enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) for every field.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to enrich leads.csv in this folder with work emails. Use the LinkedIn URL column when it is filled, otherwise name plus company. Add email and status columns, mark misses as not found, and tell me how many rows matched and the total credits_used.
```

## Should you use www.enrich.chat or a vendor MCP connector in Claude?

Use a vendor connector when your team already pays for that vendor, and Enrich.chat when you want contacts priced in credits, with unlimited seats and a monthly plan. The [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/getting-started/intro) is the open standard behind Claude's connectors. The [Claude connectors directory](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors-plugins) lists connectors from HubSpot, Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Apollo and Clay, and each one signs in to that vendor's account.

| Option | How Claude connects | What you need | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| HubSpot | Remote MCP server with sign-in, 36 tools ([listing](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/hubspot)) | A HubSpot account | Reading and updating CRM records |
| Salesforce (beta) | Salesforce MCP server ([listing](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/salesforce-headless-360)), plus a plugin an admin connects once | A Salesforce org and a paid Claude plan | Briefs, pipeline and CRM updates |
| ZoomInfo | Remote MCP server with sign-in ([listing](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/zoominfo)) | A ZoomInfo account | Search, enrichment and intent signals |
| Apollo | Remote MCP server with sign-in ([listing](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/apollo)) | An Apollo account. Revealing phone numbers uses extra credits | Search, enrichment and sequences |
| Clay | Remote MCP server with sign-in ([listing](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/clay)) | A Clay account. A tool reports your available credits | Research across Clay's enrichment providers |
| Enrich.chat | Remote MCP server with no sign-in ([install steps](https://enrich.chat/install/)), or one prompt: Claude Code reads [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md) and sends HTTPS GET requests | Nothing for 10 lookups a day, then a `pp_` key | Work emails and mobiles, priced in credits |

In Claude Code, you add a vendor's remote server with one command, `claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>`, as [Claude Code's MCP docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp) show. Most directory listings give the server URL. For Enrich.chat it is `https://enrich.chat/mcp`.

### When is a vendor connector the better choice?

A vendor connector is the better choice when you need CRM write-back, sequences or intent data inside Claude. The [HubSpot](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/hubspot) and [Salesforce](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/salesforce-headless-360) connectors update records under your own permissions. [Apollo's connector](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/apollo) adds contacts to sequences with your confirmation. Enrich.chat does not write to your CRM and has no built-in sequencing or dialer, and its MCP tools are read-only lookups. You can pair them: the CRM connector for records, and Enrich.chat to fill in missing emails. We compare each option in our guides to [HubSpot MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/hubspot-mcp/), [ZoomInfo MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-mcp/) and the [Apollo MCP alternative](https://enrich.chat/blog/apollo-mcp-alternative/).

## What rules apply to sales outreach you write with Claude?

The laws that bind a sales rep also apply to emails and calls drafted by Claude, and your team is responsible for what goes out. Check these three before any automated run.

- **Email in the US:** [CAN-SPAM](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/7704) bans false headers and deceptive subject lines. Each commercial email needs a working opt-out and a valid postal address. You must stop mailing someone within 10 business days of their opt-out.
- **Calls in the US:** [the TCPA](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/227) bars calls to a mobile number with an autodialer or an artificial or prerecorded voice, unless the person gave prior express consent. Read it before an AI voice agent dials anyone.
- **LinkedIn:** [LinkedIn's User Agreement](https://www.linkedin.com/legal/user-agreement) bans bots and other unauthorized automated methods to add contacts or send messages. It also bans browser plugins that scrape profiles. Keep any browser agent, including Claude in Chrome, off those tasks.

Keep a person in the loop. Anthropic's [Sales plugin docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales) tell admins to set send, post and write tools to "ask" for scheduled runs. [Salesforce in Claude](https://claude.com/resources/articles/salesforce-in-claude) asks the seller to approve each change by default, and [Claude in Chrome](https://claude.com/claude-in-chrome) waits for you before purchases and other one-way actions. Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn: a LinkedIn URL is only a lookup key. Anyone can remove their data at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and requests are processed within 15 days.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Claude find someone's email address?

Not on its own. Claude has no contact database, and if you ask from memory it may give a plausible guess, such as first.last@company.com, that nobody checked. Web search finds public pages, not checked mailboxes. Connect a data source instead: add the Enrich.chat MCP server as a custom connector, or paste its onboarding prompt into Claude Code, and Claude returns each work email marked verified, catch_all or unknown. Misses come back as not found and use 0 credits.

### Does Claude integrate with Salesforce and HubSpot?

Yes. The [HubSpot connector](https://claude.com/marketplace/connectors/hubspot) lets Claude search and update contacts, companies and deals under your HubSpot permissions. For Salesforce, Anthropic released [Salesforce in Claude](https://claude.com/resources/articles/salesforce-in-claude) in beta on September 15, 2026: a plugin with 37 skills and a Salesforce connector, on all paid Claude plans. An admin connects Salesforce once for the organization, and Claude asks the seller to approve each change before it is written.

### How much does Claude cost for a sales team?

Anthropic's [pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing) lists the Team plan at $20 per standard seat a month billed yearly, or $25 billed monthly, for 2 to 150 users. Premium seats, with five times the usage, cost $100 or $125. Enterprise is $20 per seat a month billed yearly, with a 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates. A single rep can start on Pro at $17 a month billed yearly, or $20 monthly.

### Can Claude send cold emails for me?

Claude can draft emails, and with an email or sales engagement connector it can create drafts or send within that connector's permissions. Anthropic's [Sales plugin docs](https://github.com/anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins/tree/main/sales) say to set send and write tools to ask for scheduled runs, so a person approves each message. The law still applies: [CAN-SPAM](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/7704) requires a working opt-out and a postal address in every commercial email, and opt-outs must be honored within 10 business days.

### Is it safe to use Claude in Chrome on LinkedIn?

Be careful. [LinkedIn's User Agreement](https://www.linkedin.com/legal/user-agreement) bans bots and other unauthorized automated methods to add contacts or send messages, and bans browser plugins that scrape profiles. [Claude in Chrome](https://claude.com/claude-in-chrome) clicks and types in the browser where you are signed in, so its actions count as yours. Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn. A LinkedIn URL is only a lookup key, so your account is never involved.

### What are the best Claude prompts for sales prospecting?

The best prospecting prompts give Claude your context and limit it to sources. Ask for an account brief with a source on every fact, a buying-committee map by role before any names, first lines built only from cited facts, and call prep that uses your project files. Add the rule from [Anthropic's hallucination guide](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/test-and-evaluate/strengthen-guardrails/reduce-hallucinations): if you are not sure, say so. See [50 lead generation prompts](https://enrich.chat/blog/chatgpt-lead-generation-prompts/) for more.
