# Clay pricing in 2026: plans, data credits, Actions and what 1,000 leads really cost

Clay replaced its old credit plans on March 11, 2026. Here is every current plan, what a data credit and an Action buy, and worked maths for a real lead list.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** Clay has four plans: Free ($0, with 100 data credits and 500 Actions a month), Launch (from $185 a month, or $167 billed annually), Growth (from $495, or $446 billed annually) and custom Enterprise, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). Data credits buy data from $0.05 each. Actions meter Clay's own work at under a cent each. Enriching 1,000 leads with an email and a phone costs about $350 a month on Launch.

## Key takeaways

- Since March 11, 2026, Clay bills two meters: data credits for third-party data, from $0.05 each, and Actions for platform work, at a few tenths of a cent each.
- Launch starts at $185 a month with 2,500 data credits and 15,000 Actions. Growth starts at $495 with 6,000 credits and 40,000 Actions. Annual billing takes 10% off.
- Clay's pricing calculator counts a work email as about 1 data credit and 3 Actions, and a phone number as about 5 data credits and 3 Actions.
- Clay charges no data credits or Actions when an enrichment returns nothing. Validation checks and waterfall steps that return data are still billed.
- Unused data credits roll over up to 2x the monthly amount on monthly plans. Actions never roll over, and one-time credit top-ups cost 30% more.

## Plans and prices

Prices as listed by Clay on October 15, 2026. [Source](https://www.clay.com/pricing). Paid plans start at these prices; you can raise the data credit and Action tiers on each plan. Annual billing saves 10%.

| Plan | Price | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 /mo | No phone enrichment |
| Launch | $185 /mo | $167/mo billed annually |
| Growth | $495 /mo | $446/mo billed annually |
| Enterprise | Custom annual | Quote from sales |

## How much does Clay cost in 2026?

Clay costs $0 on its Free plan, from $185 a month on Launch and from $495 a month on Growth. Enterprise is priced by quote. Billed annually, Launch drops to $167 a month and Growth to $446, a 10% saving, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) on October 15, 2026. Every plan includes unlimited seats, so adding teammates does not change the bill.

| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Data credits a month | Actions a month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100 | 500 |
| Launch | From $185 | From $167 a month | 2,500 to 50,000 | 15,000 to 200,000 |
| Growth | From $495 | From $446 a month | 6,000 to 50,000 | 40,000 to 200,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom, annual | Custom | 100,000+ | 200,000+ |

Each Clay plan adds features as well as volume. Free caps tables at 200 rows and leaves out phone numbers. Launch adds phone number enrichment, job change and other signals, email sequencer integrations and tables of up to 50,000 rows. Growth adds CRM sync, HTTP API calls, webhooks, web intent signals, ad audiences and priority support, per [Clay's pricing announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing). Enterprise adds SSO, role-based access and bulk runs of more than 50,000 records.

Clay offers a 14-day trial with 1,000 data credits. [Clay's billing docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing) say phone number enrichment is not available until you pay for a plan.

### Why a Clay plan price is two sliders added together

A Clay plan price is the sum of two choices: an Actions tier and a data credit tier. Launch's $185 is 15,000 Actions for $60 plus 2,500 data credits for $125. Growth's $495 is 40,000 Actions for $205 plus 6,000 data credits for $290. You can raise either slider on [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) without changing plans.

| Actions a month | Launch, billed monthly | Growth, billed monthly |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 15,000 | $60 | Not offered |
| 40,000 | $150 | $205 |
| 60,000 | $200 | $290 |
| 100,000 | $290 | $450 |
| 200,000 | $540 | $850 |

The same number of Actions costs more on Growth, while data credits cost the same on both plans. So the gap between the two Actions columns is what you pay for Growth's extra features.

## What changed in Clay's pricing in 2026?

On March 11, 2026, Clay replaced its single credit with two meters: data credits for data and Actions for platform work. [Clay's announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing) says data in its marketplace became 50 to 90% cheaper, and the premium on data credit top-ups fell from 50% to 30%. Many pages online still describe the old plans.

**Figure 1: Clay pricing changes in 2026.** A timeline of Clay's 2026 pricing changes. Before March 11, Starter, Explorer and Pro used one credit meter and cost $134, $314 and $720 a month billed yearly, with Pro at $800 monthly. On March 11, data credits and Actions went live, with Launch from $185 and Growth from $495, data costs 50 to 90% lower and the top-up premium cut to 30%. On April 10, the window to switch between legacy plans closed. On December 31, legacy plans lose trial access to new features.

*Clay's pricing timeline for 2026. The dashed date has not happened yet. Sources: [Clay's announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing), [Clay's legacy plans doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/legacy-plans) and an [archived Clay pricing page](https://web.archive.org/web/20260217053355/https://www.clay.com/pricing) from February 17, 2026.*

- **The old plans.** Before the change, Clay sold Starter, Explorer and Pro on one credit meter. An [archived copy of Clay's pricing page](https://web.archive.org/web/20260217053355/https://www.clay.com/pricing) from February 17, 2026 lists them at $134, $314 and $720 a month billed yearly, with 2,000, 10,000 and 50,000 credits a month.
- **The new plans.** Launch and Growth replaced the three self-serve plans. Clay says Growth, with CRM integrations, web intent and Ads, costs $305 less than the old $800 Pro plan.
- **HTTP API moved up.** HTTP API calls were on Explorer. They now need Growth, and each call uses an Action.
- **Who pays more.** Clay says customers who mostly use their own API keys, or who were on Pro, may see a price increase. It expected the change to cost it about 10% of revenue.
- **Legacy deadlines.** Existing customers could keep their plan. Switching between legacy plans ended on April 10, 2026, per [Clay's legacy plans doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/legacy-plans). Legacy plans also keep the old data prices and a 50% top-up premium.

Clay published its [internal pricing memo](https://www.clay.com/blog/clay-pricing-memo-internal) the same day. It says the smallest self-serve customers had paid close to 8 cents per credit, while others paid about 80% less.

## What does a Clay data credit cost?

A Clay data credit costs $0.05 on the smallest tier and falls to $0.0425 at 50,000 credits a month, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). Data credits pay for data and AI from Clay's marketplace of more than 150 providers. You buy them in tiers, and annual billing lowers the rate further.

| Data credits a month | Billed monthly | Cost per credit | Billed annually, per month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2,500 (Launch only) | $125 | $0.050 | $113 |
| 6,000 | $290 | $0.048 | $261 |
| 10,000 | $460 | $0.046 | $414 ($413 on Growth) |
| 20,000 | $880 | $0.044 | $792 |
| 50,000 | $2,125 | $0.0425 | $1,913 |

If you run short mid-month, you can buy one-time top-ups at a 30% premium or set up automatic top-ups on any paid self-serve plan. [Clay's Actions and Data Credits doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) sets the minimum top-up at 250 credits. It caps each top-up at $1,000, and all top-ups at $5,000 in any 7 days. Raising your credit tier has no premium, so it is cheaper for steady volume.

### Do Clay data credits roll over?

Clay data credits roll over, with limits. On monthly Launch and Growth plans, unused credits build up until your balance reaches 2x your monthly amount. On annual plans, you get all credits up front and can roll over 15% of them if you renew on the same or a higher plan, per [Clay's plans and billing doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing). Actions never roll over, and [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) lists no rollover on the Free plan.

## How many data credits does an email, phone or company lookup use?

In Clay, a work email uses about 1 data credit and 3 Actions, and a phone number about 5 data credits and 3 Actions. Those are the estimates built into [Clay's pricing calculator](https://www.clay.com/pricing-calculator). A person or company profile uses 0.5 credits and 1 Action. [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) put a fully enriched record at 6 to 20 data credits, mostly because phone numbers cost far more than emails.

| Enrichment in Clay | Data credits | Actions | Data cost at $0.05 a credit |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Find people or companies | 0 | 0 | $0 |
| Person profile | 0.5 | 1 | $0.025 |
| Company profile | 0.5 | 1 | $0.025 |
| Work email | 1 | 3 | $0.05 |
| Phone number | 5 | 3 | $0.25 |
| Personal email | 3 | 3 | $0.15 |
| Employee count | 2 | 3 | $0.10 |
| Tech stack | 4 | 3 | $0.20 |
| Revenue data | 6 | 3 | $0.30 |
| AI web research | 3 | 1 | $0.15 |
| Job change signal | 0.2 | 1 | $0.01 |

These are averages. The real price depends on which provider runs the lookup. Clay does not publish a price list per provider. Instead, the app shows the cost next to each enrichment before you run it, as [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) explain. The docs' own example prices a LinkedIn profile at 0.5 credits and a found email at 0.5 credits, with some email validators free.

**Figure 2: How one Clay row spends data credits and Actions.** One Clay table row that finds a person, a profile, a work email and a phone number, then adds the lead to an email sequencer. Finding the person costs nothing, the profile costs 0.5 data credits and 1 Action, the work email 1 credit and 3 Actions, the phone number 5 credits and 3 Actions, and the sequencer step 1 Action. The row totals 6.5 data credits and 8 Actions, about $0.36 at Launch rates. A provider that finds nothing costs no credits and no Actions. Your own API key removes the credits but still uses Actions.

*Illustrative row using the per-record estimates in Clay's pricing calculator. $0.36 is 6.5 credits at $0.05 plus 8 Actions at Launch's $0.004. Sources: [Clay pricing calculator](https://www.clay.com/pricing-calculator), [Clay pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing) and [Clay's Actions and Data Credits doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits), checked October 15, 2026.*

A waterfall changes the count. Clay asks providers in turn until one returns a valid result, and each provider that returns data is billed. Our [guide to waterfall enrichment](https://enrich.chat/blog/waterfall-enrichment/) explains when a waterfall pays for itself and when one verified source is enough.

## What is a Clay Action, and when does it count?

A Clay Action is one unit of platform work. Each enrichment, AI run or record you export uses 1 Action, whichever provider supplies the data. [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) say each Action costs a few tenths of a cent. On Launch, 15,000 Actions cost $60 a month, or $0.004 each.

- **Uses an Action:** every enrichment, even on your own API key; every AI prompt; signals; each lead added to Clay's sequencer or exported to another one; CRM and data warehouse syncs; HTTP API calls; and ad audience exports.
- **Uses no Action:** finding people or companies, CRM and warehouse imports, webhook imports, formulas and filters, manual entry, CSV exports, and moving or looking up rows between Clay tables.

Actions are plan capacity, not a currency. They reset each billing cycle, never roll over and cannot be topped up. If you run out, you move to a higher Actions tier. Clay sized its plans so that 90% of customers never hit the limit. Its [pricing memo](https://www.clay.com/blog/clay-pricing-memo-internal) says plans default to 4 to 5 Actions per data credit. The docs size Launch's 15,000 Actions for about 10,000 records a year, and Growth's 40,000 for about 50,000.

## Does Clay charge when an enrichment finds nothing?

No. Clay charges no data credits and no Action when an enrichment returns no data or the call ends in an error, per the FAQ in [Clay's pricing announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing). [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) says the same. Four cases still cost you, though:

- **Validation is billed either way.** An email check through Clay's marketplace uses data credits and an Action whether the email turns out valid or invalid, per [Clay's announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing).
- **Bad results in a waterfall are billed.** If a provider returns an email that then fails validation, that step and its check are charged, and the next provider runs.
- **Stopped runs still count.** Requests already sent before you stop a column still use data credits, per [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits).
- **Re-runs cost again.** Re-running a column, auto-run refreshes and AI columns all create new usage.

If a provider refunds Clay for invalid data, Clay refunds those data credits to you. To spot catch-all domains before you pay for checks, test them with the free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/).

## How does bringing your own API key change Clay's cost?

With your own API key, a Clay enrichment uses no data credits, but it still uses 1 Action, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). You pay the provider directly under your own contract. [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits) say connecting keys you already have, such as ZoomInfo, Apollo or Clearbit, can save 50 to 80% on data credits.

- **Every plan allows it.** Clay's pricing page lists bring your own API key on Free, Launch, Growth and Enterprise.
- **You track the spend elsewhere.** Clay shows the Actions a key uses, not the provider's charges. You check those in the provider's own dashboard.
- **AI works the same way.** Your own OpenAI or Anthropic key removes the data credits for an AI run, but each run is still 1 Action. Clay says AI runs are 2x faster on its keys because of higher rate limits. [Clay's AI pricing doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/ai-pricing) lists the credit cost of each model.
- **Heavy key users may pay more than before.** [Clay's announcement](https://www.clay.com/blog/introducing-clays-new-pricing) says a workflow on your own keys used to be effectively free in Clay. It now carries a small cost per record.

For 1,000 leads with an email and a phone on your own keys, Clay's side is about 6,000 Actions and no data credits. That fits inside Launch's 15,000 Actions. Clay then costs its $185 base price, plus whatever your providers charge.

## What does it cost to enrich 1,000 leads on each Clay plan?

Enriching 1,000 leads with a work email and a phone number costs about $350 a month on Clay's Launch plan, or $315 a month billed annually. We entered 1,000 contacts with those two data points into [Clay's pricing calculator](https://www.clay.com/pricing-calculator) on October 15, 2026, and it recommended exactly that. The list needs about 6,000 data credits and 6,000 Actions if every row returns both.

| Clay plan and setup | What you buy | Monthly cost | Per lead |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | 100 credits and 500 Actions, no phone enrichment | Not possible | Up to 100 emails, no phones |
| Launch, base plan plus top-ups | 2,500 credits, then 3,500 more at about $0.065 | $412.50 | $0.41 |
| Launch, 6,000-credit tier | 6,000 credits ($290) and 15,000 Actions ($60) | $350 | $0.35 |
| Launch, billed annually | 72,000 credits and 180,000 Actions a year | $315 ($3,780 a year) | $0.32 |
| Growth | 6,000 credits and 40,000 Actions included | $495, or $446 billed annually | $0.50 |
| Enterprise | Custom credits and Actions | Quote from sales | Not published |

**Figure 3: Monthly cost of 1,000 leads with an email and a phone.** Bar chart of the monthly cost to enrich 1,000 leads with a work email and a phone number. Enrich.chat costs $90 a month on the Scale plan, which covers the 260,000 credits this list needs. Clay Launch billed annually costs $315 a month. Clay Launch with a 6,000-credit tier costs $350, rising to $940 if each lead takes 20 credits. Clay Launch with top-ups costs about $413. Clay Growth costs $495. Clay's Free plan cannot do it because it has no phone enrichment.

*Monthly cost at list prices, assuming every row returns an email and a phone. Clay usage follows its calculator: 1 credit and 3 Actions per email, 5 credits and 3 Actions per phone. The dashed range is 20 credits a lead, the top of Clay's 6 to 20 range. The Enrich.chat bar is the monthly price of the Scale plan, which covers the 260,000 credits this list uses; rows with no match use no credits. Sources: [Clay pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing), [Clay pricing calculator](https://www.clay.com/pricing-calculator), [Clay docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits), checked October 15, 2026.*

How each Clay figure is worked out:

- **Usage:** 1,000 work emails at 1 credit and 3 Actions, plus 1,000 phone numbers at 5 credits and 3 Actions, is 6,000 credits and 6,000 Actions.
- **Top-ups:** Launch includes 2,500 credits. Buying 3,500 more at 30% above $0.05 costs about $0.065 each, or $227.50, for $412.50 in total. Raising the tier to 6,000 credits is cheaper.
- **Annual:** 72,000 credits a year cost $261 a month and 180,000 Actions cost $54 a month. Clay bills the year up front and grants all credits at once.
- **Growth:** the base 6,000 credits cover the list exactly. You pay for CRM sync and the HTTP API whether you use them or not.
- **Expensive phones:** at 20 credits a lead, the list needs 20,000 credits. On Launch that is $880 plus $60 for Actions, or $940 a month.
- **Enterprise:** there is no public price. [Vendr's buyer data](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/clay) shows a median Clay contract of $59,996 a year across 96 purchases.

Rows with no match use no credits on Clay, so a list with gaps costs less in credits. The plan fee stays the same, though, and unused credits only roll over up to the cap.

## Is Clay cheaper than Enrich.chat?

For contact data alone, Enrich.chat usually costs less, because it sells data without tables or a sequencer to pay for. The same 1,000 leads need 260,000 credits a month, which fits the Scale plan at $90 a month, with unlimited seats and nothing spent on a row that finds no match. Pro-rated at that plan's rate, the list uses $46.80 of credits, but the plan itself is $90 a month. Clay is better value when you use what its plan fee buys: tables, waterfalls, AI research, signals and a sequencer.

| | Clay Launch | Enrich.chat |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Entry price | $185 a month, or $167 billed annually | $29 a month for Growth; 10 free lookups a day, no signup |
| This 1,000-lead list | $350 a month on Launch, or $315 billed annually | $90 a month (Scale plan) |
| Work email | About 1 data credit and 3 Actions | 10 credits ($0.0029 on Growth, $0.0012 on Pro, if you use every credit) |
| Phone | About 5 data credits and 3 Actions | 250 credits ($0.0725 on Growth, $0.0299 on Pro, if you use every credit) |
| No result | No credits, no Action | 0 credits |
| Seats | Unlimited | Unlimited, on every plan |
| How you use it | Visual tables, waterfalls, Claygent, sequencer | Plain HTTPS API your AI agent calls |
| Status per field | Set by your validation step | verified, catch_all or unknown per email; mobile or unknown line type per mobile |

Every Enrich.chat response includes `credits_used`, so your agent can report how many credits a list used, and free-tier responses add `free_lookups_remaining`. See the [Enrich.chat pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for the full rate card, [log in](https://enrich.chat/account/) to pick a plan and get your API key, or see the [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) for the fields it returns.

### When is Clay the better choice?

- **You want a visual table.** People who do not write code can build and change workflows in Clay.
- **You want many providers in one place.** Clay runs waterfalls across more than 150 providers, and you can plug in contracts you already pay for.
- **You want the whole outbound stack.** Signals, CRM sync, ad audiences and Clay's sequencer sit in one tool.
- **You do AI account research at scale.** Claygent runs AI web research on each row of a table.

Enrich.chat has two gaps to weigh. It has no visual table builder, sequencer or Chrome extension, so you bring your own outreach tool. And its SDKs are still planned, so for now you call the plain HTTPS API or the MCP server. Teams that want contact data inside an [AI agent](https://enrich.chat/agents/) or app can add its keyless [MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/) and test it on real rows first:

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Clay free to use?

Yes. Clay's Free plan costs $0 and includes 100 data credits and 500 Actions a month, unlimited seats and tables, multi-provider waterfalls, Claygent and your own API keys, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). Tables are capped at 200 rows, and phone number enrichment is not included. Clay also offers a 14-day trial with 1,000 data credits, but [phone enrichment is not available during the trial](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing) either.

### What are Actions in Clay?

Actions measure the work Clay does for you. Each enrichment, AI run, signal, HTTP API call and record sent to a CRM, sequencer or ad platform uses 1 Action, even when you use your own API key. Finding people, imports, formulas, CSV exports and moving rows between tables use none. Actions cost a few tenths of a cent, come with your plan tier, reset every billing cycle and cannot be topped up, per [Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/actions-data-credits).

### How much does one Clay data credit cost?

A Clay data credit costs $0.05 on the 2,500-credit tier ($125 a month) and falls to $0.0425 at 50,000 credits a month ($2,125), per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). Annual billing lowers the rate by about 10%. One-time top-ups cost 30% more than your plan rate. Clay's calculator counts about 1 credit for a work email and 5 for a phone number, so the same credit buys more email data than phone data.

### Do Clay credits roll over?

Data credits do, Actions do not. On monthly Launch and Growth plans, unused data credits build up to 2x your monthly amount, so a 10,000-credit plan can bank 20,000. On annual plans you can roll over 15% of your annual credits if you renew on the same or a higher plan, per [Clay's billing docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing). If you downgrade, your balance is cut to 2x the new plan's monthly amount when the cycle ends.

### Can I still sign up for Clay's Starter, Explorer or Pro plan?

No. New customers choose Free, Launch, Growth or Enterprise. Customers already on Starter, Explorer or Pro can stay, but switching between legacy plans ended on April 10, 2026, and any plan change now moves you to a modern plan, per [Clay's legacy plans doc](https://university.clay.com/docs/legacy-plans). Legacy plans keep the old data prices, pay a 50% top-up premium, and lose their trial access to new features after December 31, 2026.

### How much does Clay Enterprise cost?

Clay does not publish Enterprise prices. Enterprise is custom, sold on an annual commitment, and includes 100,000+ data credits and 200,000+ Actions a month, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). [Vendr's buyer data](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/clay) shows a median Clay contract of $59,996 a year across 96 purchases, with a range of $16,500 to $170,000. Enterprise adds SSO, role-based access, bulk enrichment and a dedicated growth strategist.
