# PitchBook pricing in 2026: what a seat costs, how renewals work and what to use for company data

PitchBook sells by quote and its site blocked our reads, so this page uses public purchase orders, Morningstar's filings and buyer reports. Every number is labeled with where it came from.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** PitchBook publishes no price and sells only by quote. [US federal purchase orders](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_89703025FAR000008_8900_89703025AAR000001_8900) show $7,500 to $10,500 per seat a year on multi-seat orders, and [Vendr's data](https://web.archive.org/web/20250617223802/https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/pitchbook) showed a $32,000 median contract. [Morningstar's 10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1289419/000128941926000013/morn-20251231.htm) implies about $5,900 of revenue per licensed user.

## Key takeaways

- PitchBook's site answered our reads with a bot challenge, so every figure here comes from public records, Morningstar filings and buyer reports, not from a PitchBook price page.
- US federal orders that state a seat count price a PitchBook seat at $7,500 to $10,500 a year on orders of 3 to 21 seats. One single-seat order cost $24,300.
- Vendr's June 2025 data showed a $32,000 median contract across 101 purchases, from $20,000 to $125,000, with buyers saving 14% on average.
- PitchBook's data feed agreement raises the fee at automatic renewal by the higher of 5% or US inflation. Public orders show rises of 5.0% to 6.7%.
- Morningstar says APIs and feeds are priced by data volume. A federal feed license cost $21,000 in 2026, and another feed order cost $332,641.

## How much does PitchBook cost in 2026?

PitchBook publishes no price. The best public evidence puts a seat at $7,500 to $10,500 a year on multi-seat orders and $24,300 for a single seat, and puts a typical contract near $32,000 a year. Every figure below comes from a record we could read, and each one is labeled with its source.

PitchBook sells by quote. On October 16, 2026, pitchbook.com answered our automated reads with a Cloudflare bot challenge, so we did not open its pricing or product pages. Google's result snippets for those pages point to a request form where a price would go. G2, Capterra, TrustRadius and Reddit blocked us as well, and Vendr's live PitchBook page returned a 404. That leaves six kinds of evidence.

*Every sourced PitchBook price figure on this page, checked October 16, 2026. None is a PitchBook price list.*

| Evidence | What it covers | Figure | How firm it is |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| US federal purchase orders | Orders that state a seat count, 2023 to 2026 | $7,500 to $10,500 per seat a year | Public record, US government buyers |
| The same records | One Standard Platform seat for a year, 2025 | $24,300 | Public record, a single order |
| Vendr, June 2025 copy | 101 purchases, as counted by Vendr | Median $32,000 a year, range $20,000 to $125,000 | Buyer-data company, reported |
| Failory, January 2024 | 8 anonymous customers | $12,000 to $13,500 for one seat, $18,000 to $24,000 for three | Customer reports, not verified |
| Morningstar 10-K | PitchBook revenue and licensed users at year end 2025 | About $5,900 per user (our arithmetic) | Company filing, a blended average |
| Multiples | PitchBook API packages | From about $70,000 a year | A competitor's estimate, no source named |

The first two rows are the firmest. They are purchase orders with a stated seat count and a dollar value. The Vendr row is a summary of deals that one buyer-data company saw. Failory's customers are anonymous. The Morningstar row is an average over every account, so it is not a price. Multiples sells a competing API, so treat its number as an interested party's estimate.

## What do US federal purchase orders show per seat?

They show $7,500 to $10,500 per seat a year on orders of 3 to 21 seats, plus one single-seat order at $24,300. [USAspending.gov](https://www.usaspending.gov/), the US government's spending database, lists awards to PitchBook Data Inc. We read the ones whose descriptions state a seat count, and the table shows seven.

*US federal orders for PitchBook seats, from USAspending.gov award records. The per-seat column is our arithmetic: order value divided by stated users.*

**Figure 1: PitchBook price per seat in US federal orders.** Bar chart of the annual price per PitchBook seat in seven US federal orders. Six orders of 3 to 21 seats cost $7,500 to $10,500 per seat: Energy 2025 $7,500, Energy 2026 $8,000, Labor 2024 $8,000, FBI 2024 $8,000, Education 2023 $9,000 and Justice 2026 $10,500. One Army order for a single seat cost $24,300.

*Price per PitchBook seat a year in seven US federal orders. Blue bars are orders of 3 to 21 seats, the grey bar is one seat. Per-seat values are our arithmetic from order value and stated users. Sources: [USAspending.gov](https://www.usaspending.gov/) award records linked in the table above.*

Three things stand out. First, the per-seat price did not fall in a straight line as seats rose. Fifteen seats cost $10,500 each in 2026, while 21 seats cost $8,000 each in 2024, so the year and the bundle matter as much as the seat count. Second, the FBI and Education orders say the platform subscription included PitchBook's Emerging Technology Research, Morningstar equity research entitlement and CRM plugin. The Energy orders describe a web-based investor database and list the direct data feed as a separate line. Third, all seven buyers are US agencies, and each order is recorded as not competed. A commercial buyer may pay a different price.

The single seat is the outlier. The Army order is one Standard Platform subscription for one year at $24,300. [Failory's customers](https://www.failory.com/blog/pitchbook-pricing) reported $12,000 and $13,500 for one seat, and one buyer comment on Vendr's page says Standard user pricing rose to a $20,000 list price for a single user. So one seat has been reported anywhere from $12,000 to $24,300, and the sources do not say which modules each included.

## What do Vendr and buyer reports add?

They add a median and a set of negotiating stories. Vendr's June 2025 data put the median PitchBook buyer at $32,000 a year, with a range of $20,000 to $125,000, across 101 purchases. Vendr is a software-buying platform, and its numbers come from deals it handled, so they are reported figures, not PitchBook prices.

Vendr's live PitchBook page returned a 404 on October 16, 2026, so we read an [Internet Archive copy from June 17, 2025](https://web.archive.org/web/20250617223802/https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/pitchbook). It says buyers saved 14% on average and lists seven PitchBook products, including Standard, Sole Practitioner, Enterprise and API. Later snapshots are quoted by [CostBench](https://costbench.com/software/financial-data-terminals/pitchbook) at a $30,000 median and by [FundedIQ](https://fundediq.co/compare/pitchbook-pricing/) at $31,750. We could not check either against Vendr, and CostBench rates its own PitchBook data as limited confidence.

The Vendr page also carries anonymous buyer comments. They are one-sided stories, but several line up with the public records:

- **Five seats.** One buyer paid $633.33 a month per user for 5 users, which is $7,600 a year per seat by our arithmetic. That sits close to the Energy order.
- **Multi-year terms.** One buyer won 22% off list plus free service for the rest of the calendar year. Another had the renewal uplift waived for a two-year term, and a third accepted a 5% yearly uplift in a two-year term.
- **Renewal pushback.** One buyer says PitchBook proposed a 7% uplift while the buyer's users grew 20%. Another says PitchBook refused to add price-lock language to an order form.
- **Competing quotes.** One buyer says bringing up an alternative can push pricing down 5% to 10%.

Failory's January 2024 piece adds eight anonymous customers: $12,000 and $13,500 for one seat, $18,000 to $24,000 for three seats, and $7,000 per seat with a claimed five-seat minimum. One customer cut a $25,000 quote to $20,000 by agreeing to two years. Other sites repeat a TrustRadius figure of $25,000 for 3 users plus $7,000 for each extra one, but TrustRadius blocked our read, so we do not cite it.

## What do Morningstar's filings say about PitchBook's average revenue?

They imply about $5,900 of revenue per licensed user and about $65,900 per client account. In its [10-K for 2025](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1289419/000128941926000013/morn-20251231.htm), Morningstar reports PitchBook revenue of $671.8 million. At December 31, 2025 PitchBook served approximately 10,200 client accounts and 113,451 licensed users. Divide and you get the two averages. They are our arithmetic.

These are blended numbers, not quotes. They include large firms with volume pricing, direct data products and accounts with many seats, and they divide a full year's revenue by a year-end count. Morningstar says PitchBook platform pricing is "primarily based on the number of licensed users", with customized pricing for large enterprises, boutique firms and startups.

The 10-K also shows pressure on smaller buyers. Morningstar says PitchBook licensed users were relatively flat in 2025, with new logos offset by churn, and that corporate clients, especially smaller firms with limited use cases, were soft. It estimates PitchBook's annual revenue renewal rate, platform and direct data combined, at about 103% in 2025 against 108% in 2024. That rate mixes price changes, added users and cancellations, so it is not a price rise on its own.

## How much does the PitchBook API or data feed cost?

PitchBook publishes no API price, and public records span a wide range. Morningstar's 10-K says direct data products, including APIs and data feeds, are priced by data volume, refresh requirements and technical specifications. That is why no single number fits.

- **One feed license.** The Energy Department's ARPA-E office ordered [one direct data feed license at $19,799.01](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_89703025FAR000005_8900_89703025AAR000001_8900) in September 2025 and [one at $21,000](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_89703026FAR000022_8900_89703025AAR000001_8900) a year later.
- **A large feed order.** A Treasury data feed task order was [$316,801](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_2032H325F00096_2001_2032H323D00005_2001) for 2025 to 2026, and a similarly described order was [$332,641.05](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_2099AC26F00038_2099_2099AC26D00002_2099) for 2026 to 2027.
- **A competitor's estimate.** [Multiples](https://multiples.vc/compare/pitchbook-api-alternatives), which sells a rival API, says reported PitchBook API packages start around $70,000 a year and need a standard platform license. It was last verified on August 20, 2026 and names no sources.

### Does PitchBook work with ChatGPT, Claude or MCP?

Yes, for subscribers. In a [Q&A dated August 25, 2026](https://shareholders.morningstar.com/investor-resources/investor-qa/qa-details/2026/How-are-PitchBook-Model-Context-Protocol-MCP-Connectors-monetized-today-if-at-all--2026-cy9M2BxfO7/default.aspx), Morningstar said paying PitchBook subscribers can use premium connectors in Claude and ChatGPT at no additional charge today. It added that PitchBook could price that access separately later. A direct MCP capability, similar to an API, is being tested and is expected to use consumption-based pricing. A pilot of wider connector access needs at least one full platform license, and proprietary tools such as the VC Exit Predictor stay inside the platform.

### Can an AI system use PitchBook feed data?

Check the contract first. The standard [Data Feed License Agreement](https://d7umqicpi7263.cloudfront.net/eula/6BUymbucoHzrzAFeK7WBEHUhDqDVmSyEsofCQR1RKAs) we read lists use with machine learning or AI systems under prohibited uses, and bars putting feed content into a CRM or third-party database unless the order form allows it. The order form controls where the two conflict. This is a reading of public terms, not legal advice.

## What do PitchBook's contract terms and renewals look like?

Annual licenses that renew automatically, with a price rise at renewal. We could not read PitchBook's platform terms, so the contract detail below comes from its Data Feed License Agreement (a PDF on PitchBook's file host, last modified February 9, 2026), Morningstar's filings and buyer reports. Your own order form is what binds you.

- **Term.** One of Failory's customers was offered annual licenses only, and another was billed quarterly. Morningstar says its license agreements typically run one to three years across the company.
- **Auto-renewal.** The feed agreement renews each order form for a year unless a party gives written notice 30 days before the term ends. It also lets either party end the agreement at the end of a term with 60 days' notice, and neither can end an order form early for convenience.
- **Renewal price.** At automatic renewal the feed agreement raises the annual fee by the higher of 5% or the change in US consumer prices, and lets PitchBook change renewal fees with notice at least 45 days before the term ends.
- **Missed payment.** If one payment is late, the agreement makes the other payments on that order form due immediately.
- **Add-ons.** Federal orders show Emerging Technology Research, Morningstar equity research and the CRM plugin inside some standard orders. Other orders buy the data feed as its own line, and the Fiscal Service paid [$66,100 for PitchBook's LCD loan-market data product](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_20341523C00005_2036_-NONE-_-NONE-) as a separate order for July 2023 to July 2024.
- **Seat sharing.** One Vendr buyer says PitchBook is getting better at detecting password sharing, so they bought more licenses.

### How much does a PitchBook renewal rise?

Public records show rises of 5.0% to 6.7%. The Energy seat went from $7,500 to $8,000, which is 6.7%. The ARPA-E feed license went from $19,799.01 to $21,000, which is 6.1%. The Treasury feed went from $316,801 to $332,641.05, which is exactly 5.0%. Those are three orders, not a rule, but the last matches the 5% floor in the feed agreement.

**Figure 2: PitchBook prices one year later in federal orders.** Three renewals in US federal orders. An Energy seat rose from $7,500 to $8,000, up 6.7%. An Energy data feed license rose from $19,799.01 to $21,000, up 6.1%. A Treasury data feed order rose from $316,801 to $332,641.05, up 5.0%. PitchBook's Data Feed License Agreement sets the automatic renewal increase at the higher of 5% or US inflation.

Morningstar is open about its approach. In a [March 25, 2026 Q&A](https://shareholders.morningstar.com/investor-resources/investor-qa/qa-details/2026/On-PitchBook-we-have-heard-anecdotally-that-you-raised-pricing-more-than-in-recent-years-for-2026/default.aspx), it said PitchBook seeks expansion at renewal, including price increases where appropriate, and sets pricing contract by contract. It did not give the size of any increase, and said it does not see growth as driven mainly by a fixed yearly price rise.

## Can you get PitchBook cheaper, or free?

Sometimes. The levers in the sources are term length, competing quotes and your library. None of them is a published discount, so each depends on your own deal.

- **Commit to more years.** Failory reports a $25,000 quote cut to $20,000 for two years, and Vendr buyers report waived uplifts and 22% off list on multi-year terms. Vendr's overall average saving was 14%.
- **Bring a rival quote.** One Vendr buyer says a competitor's offer pushed pricing down 5% to 10%, and another used a Dealroom quote at renewal.
- **Check your university.** The University of Colorado Boulder's [library page](https://libguides.colorado.edu/50906685) says students, faculty and staff get access, accounts expire each June, and a user can download 10 rows a day and 25 a month.
- **Test with free samples.** PitchBook lists a [Companies & Deals Data Sample](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-kjevwrwcqwszi) (49 companies) and [Fund Data](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-tvhdqx3cnapew) on AWS Marketplace, both free of charge. They let you test a pipeline, not run research.
- **Ask for a trial.** Failory says a trial request leads to a sales call, and there is no way to buy without one.

## How does Enrich.chat handle the company and contact part?

Enrich.chat covers one narrow job that sits next to PitchBook research: a company profile from a website, and the people at that company with work emails. It does not cover deals, valuations or round-by-round funding history. Use it when the next step is outreach or enrichment, not investment research.

The [company enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/company-enrichment/) takes a website, a LinkedIn company page or a company id and returns name, industry, size band and location, plus a revenue band, founded year and latest funding stage where we hold them. The [people search API](https://enrich.chat/api/people-search/) lists people at that website by title or seniority, and `/v1/person` returns a work email for a person you pick. Your agent reads [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md) or adds the [MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/), and a key is optional on the free tier. The example uses fictional values on example.com and is illustrative.

A work email for one of them is a third call, `GET /v1/person?person_id=per_5Jm3y8RnWc6MsUaF&fields=email`, which uses 10 credits when it finds one. Each email comes back as verified, catch_all or unknown. A lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits. Say you take 1,500 company websites from a PitchBook export, pull 3 people at each and ask for each person's work email:

*Illustrative monthly workload on Enrich.chat's public credit rates.*

| Step | Volume | Credits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Company profiles | 1,500 websites | 7,500 |
| People at those companies | 4,500 people returned | 22,500 |
| Work emails | 4,500 found | 45,000 |
| Total | One month | 75,000 credits, Growth plan, $29 a month |

A plan is a fixed monthly price, so the job uses part of it: priced at the plan's own credit rate, this workload is $21.75 of the Growth plan. Figure 3 sets the monthly bills side by side, with PitchBook's seat prices divided by 12.

**Figure 3: Monthly equivalent of PitchBook seats and an Enrich.chat plan.** Bar chart of monthly equivalents. A PitchBook seat in the Energy order costs $625 a month, in the Justice order $875 a month, and a single Army seat $2,025 a month. Vendr's $32,000 median contract works out to $2,667 a month. An Enrich.chat Growth plan covering 1,500 company profiles and 4,500 people with work emails costs $29 a month. The products are not like for like.

*Yearly PitchBook prices divided by 12, next to a monthly Enrich.chat plan for the workload above. The bars are not like for like: a PitchBook seat buys private-market research and a web platform, while the Enrich.chat plan buys API lookups of company profiles, people and work emails. Enrich.chat has three honest gaps next to a PitchBook seat:

- **No deals, investors or valuations.** The company profile returns name, domain, industry, size band, location and, where we hold them, a revenue band, founded year and the latest funding stage. It has no round-by-round funding history, investors, fund data, valuations or research, and revenue is a band, not a figure.
- **Website in, not a name.** A company name alone is not supported, so you need each company's website first. You also need the right to use the export: PitchBook's feed terms limit what you can input into other databases, so check your license.
- **No CRM sync or plug-ins.** A search returns 25 people a page, up to 1,000 per search. The dashboard saves lists and exports CSV, but there is no CRM sync, no Excel or PowerPoint plug-ins and no bulk files on self-serve plans. Pace is about one request a second.

Our guides to [company data enrichment](https://enrich.chat/blog/company-data-enrichment/) and [finding employees of a company](https://enrich.chat/blog/find-employees-of-a-company/) cover the workflow, and the free [lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/) runs one search at a time. The dashboard's [company search](https://enrich.chat/features/company-search/) filters companies by industry, size band, revenue band and funding stage. To price your own list, paste this into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to look up these company websites at about one request a second. ## When is PitchBook the better choice?
PitchBook is the better choice when your work is private-market research. Based on Morningstar's 10-K, a seat gives you things Enrich.chat does not:
- **Deals, funds and valuations.** PitchBook tracks private and public companies, investors, funds, deals, loans and executives, and offers machine-learning tools such as the VC Exit Predictor and valuation estimates.
- **Analyst research.** The 10-K cites full-time analyst coverage across 30 sectors and more than 2,400 research reports in 2025.
- **Workflow tools.** Excel and PowerPoint plug-ins, CRM integrations, mobile apps and PitchBook Navigator for conversational search.
- **AI connectors.** Subscribers can reach premium connectors in Claude and ChatGPT at no extra charge today.
Choose an API like Enrich.chat when you need company profiles and contacts inside an agent or app, on a monthly plan with unlimited seats. The two can sit side by side, with PitchBook for the target list and an API for the contact step. Our [guide to what PitchBook is](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-pitchbook/), the [PitchBook alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/pitchbook/) and [Crunchbase vs PitchBook](https://enrich.chat/compare/crunchbase-vs-pitchbook/) go further, and our [Crunchbase API pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/crunchbase-api-pricing/) and [best company data APIs](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-company-data-apis/) pages price the nearest options. ## Frequently asked questions
### How much does PitchBook cost per user?
PitchBook publishes no price, so the figures come from records. [US federal orders](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_15F06724P0001109_1549_-NONE-_-NONE-) that state a seat count show $7,500 to $10,500 per seat a year on orders of 3 to 21 seats, and $24,300 for one seat. [Vendr's June 2025 data](https://web.archive.org/web/20250617223802/https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/pitchbook) shows a $32,000 median contract, from $20,000 to $125,000. Your quote depends on seats, modules and term.
### How much does the PitchBook API cost?
PitchBook does not publish an API price. Morningstar's [10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1289419/000128941926000013/morn-20251231.htm) says APIs and data feeds are priced by data volume, refresh needs and technical specifications. A [federal data feed license](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_89703026FAR000022_8900_89703025AAR000001_8900) cost $21,000 and a [Treasury feed order](https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_AWD_2099AC26F00038_2099_2099AC26D00002_2099) cost $332,641.05. Competitor [Multiples](https://multiples.vc/compare/pitchbook-api-alternatives) estimates packages from about $70,000 a year.
### Is PitchBook free for students?
Not directly, but many universities license it. The University of Colorado Boulder [says its library](https://libguides.colorado.edu/50906685) gives students, faculty and staff access, with accounts that expire each June and limits of 10 downloads a day and 25 a month. PitchBook also lists two [sample datasets on AWS Marketplace](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-kjevwrwcqwszi) free of charge. Check your library's database list first.
### Does PitchBook raise its price at renewal?
Its [Data Feed License Agreement](https://d7umqicpi7263.cloudfront.net/eula/6BUymbucoHzrzAFeK7WBEHUhDqDVmSyEsofCQR1RKAs) raises the fee at automatic renewal by the higher of 5% or the US consumer price change. Public orders show a seat going from $7,500 to $8,000 and a feed rising exactly 5.0%. Morningstar says PitchBook [seeks price increases where appropriate](https://shareholders.morningstar.com/investor-resources/investor-qa/qa-details/2026/On-PitchBook-we-have-heard-anecdotally-that-you-raised-pricing-more-than-in-recent-years-for-2026/default.aspx). Your order form controls, and this is not legal advice.
### Can you use PitchBook data in ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes, if you subscribe. On August 25, 2026, Morningstar said paying subscribers can use PitchBook's [premium connectors](https://shareholders.morningstar.com/investor-resources/investor-qa/qa-details/2026/How-are-PitchBook-Model-Context-Protocol-MCP-Connectors-monetized-today-if-at-all--2026-cy9M2BxfO7/default.aspx) in Claude and ChatGPT at no extra charge today, and that PitchBook could price them separately later. A direct MCP product, like an API, is being tested with consumption-based pricing.
### What can you use for company and contact data instead of PitchBook?
If you need a company profile and the people at it, not deals or valuations, [Enrich.chat](https://enrich.chat/api/company-enrichment/) sells monthly credit plans (Growth $29 for 100,000 credits, Scale $90 for 500,000 credits, Pro $299 for 2,500,000 credits). A company profile found uses 5 credits, each person returned uses 5, a work email 10, and a miss uses 0. It returns the latest funding stage where we hold one, but it has no round-by-round funding history, deals or valuations. See the [PitchBook alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/pitchbook/).
