# What is SignalHire? How the extension and credits work, what it costs and how to opt out

SignalHire sells email and phone credits to recruiters and sales teams. This guide covers what you get, what the numbers on its site mean, whether it is legit, how to remove your profile, and what an API route looks like.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** SignalHire is a contact finder from SignalHire Sp. z o.o. of Warsaw. It sells email and phone credits, mainly to recruiters and sales teams, through a browser extension, database search, API and MCP server. [Its pricing page](https://www.signalhire.com/pricing) lists paid plans at $69 a month for 1,000 email credits or 435 phone credits, checked October 16, 2026. A credit is spent only when an email or phone is found.

## Key takeaways

- SignalHire is run by SignalHire Sp. z o.o. in Warsaw. Its terms call it a B2B contact-finding service for recruiters, and its home page also names sales professionals and marketers.
- One credit buys one person's contacts and is spent only if an email or phone is found. Saving a profile to a list or project costs no credit.
- Its own pages give different size and accuracy figures: 900M+ profiles on the home page against 820 million and 850M+ on its blog, and 95%+ email accuracy against over 97%. None is independently measured.
- Trustpilot showed 59 reviews on October 16, 2026, 61% at one star and 27% at five. The Chrome Web Store listing shows 5.0 from 636 ratings.
- To opt out, use the form on SignalHire's opt-out page. It sets no deadline, and the privacy FAQ says valid requests typically take 30 to 45 days.

## What is SignalHire?

SignalHire is a contact finder that sells email addresses and phone numbers by the credit. It is run by SignalHire Sp. z o.o., a company based in Warsaw, Poland, according to [its Terms of Use](https://www.signalhire.com/terms). The terms call it a B2B contact-finding service for recruiters and HR specialists, built around a searchable Prospects Database, browser extensions and APIs. [The home page](https://www.signalhire.com/) names recruiters, sales professionals and marketers as its users.

You can reach the same data three ways. A person clicks a button in the extension on a profile page. A team searches the database or uploads a list. A developer or an AI agent calls the API or the MCP server. All three draw on one credit balance.

| SignalHire part | What it does | Where it says so |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Browser extension | Reveals contacts on profile pages of LinkedIn, Facebook, GitHub, X and Meetup | [Pricing page FAQ](https://www.signalhire.com/pricing) |
| Database search | Filters by name, title, company and location, then saves people to Lead Lists or Projects | [Home page](https://www.signalhire.com/) |
| Bulk enrichment | Runs up to 1,000 people at a time, including from a CSV or TXT upload | [Home page](https://www.signalhire.com/) |
| API | Person, Search and Company parts; Company access is on request | [API overview](https://docs.signalhire.com/overview) |
| MCP server | A hosted server for AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor | [MCP page](https://www.signalhire.com/mcp-server) |
| Email sequences | Multi-step cold email sent from your own mailbox | [Home page](https://www.signalhire.com/) |
| ATS and CRM sync | 26 integrations listed: 16 ATS tools, 5 CRMs, 3 sales engagement tools and 2 others | [Integrations page](https://www.signalhire.com/integrations) |

### Who uses SignalHire?

- **Recruiters.** The terms describe contacting professionals for employment purposes, and the integrations page lists ATS tools such as Zoho Recruit, Loxo, Ashby and Workable.
- **Sales and marketing teams.** [The sales page](https://www.signalhire.com/sales) pitches the database to high-velocity sales teams, and the integrations page names Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Zoho CRM and ActiveCampaign.
- **Developers and agent builders.** The Person and Search APIs and the MCP server use the same credits as the website.
- **Solo users trying it out.** The free plan gives 5 credits, or 10 a month with the extension.

## How does SignalHire work?

SignalHire works by credit. You ask for a person's contacts, SignalHire looks for an email or phone, and it takes one credit only if it finds one. [A help center article](https://www.signalhire.com/knowledge-base/what-does-'available-credits'-mean) says no credit is deducted when it finds nothing.

### How does the extension work?

1. Open a person's profile on a supported site. [The pricing FAQ](https://www.signalhire.com/pricing) lists Facebook, LinkedIn, GitHub, X and Meetup.
2. Click the SH icon, then the green Reveal Contacts button, per [the help center](https://www.signalhire.com/knowledge-base/how-to-use-the-signalhire-extension).
3. SignalHire returns emails, phone numbers and social links. It deducts one credit if at least one email or phone comes back.
4. Save the profile to a Job Project or Lead List. [Exporting there costs no credit](https://www.signalhire.com/knowledge-base/do-i-use-a-credit-when-i-export-a-profile-to-'job-projects'-or-'lead-lists').

**Figure 1: SignalHire: four ways in, one credit balance.** Four ways to reach SignalHire data feed one shared credit balance: the browser extension, database search, the API and the MCP server. The balance takes 1 credit per person, only if an email or phone is found, and is shared by the web app, extension, API and MCP server. You can then keep the contacts in Lists and Projects, sync them to an ATS or CRM, or send email sequences. Saving to a list is free, and Search API calls use a daily quota instead of credits.

### How do the API and the MCP server work?

[SignalHire's API](https://docs.signalhire.com/overview) has three parts. The Person API looks up one person by LinkedIn URL, email, phone number or profile ID. The Search API finds prospects with filters and returns brief profiles without contact details. The Company API is available on request.

By default, Person API results are posted to a public callback URL you provide. A synchronous mode returns them in the response, but [the docs warn](https://docs.signalhire.com/person-api/retrieve-person) it may return fewer or slightly older contacts. A request can carry up to 100 items, and [paid accounts can send 600 items a minute](https://docs.signalhire.com/person-api/rate-limits).

Billing follows the credit rule. [The API pricing doc](https://docs.signalhire.com/api-pricing) says Person API lookups use the same credits as the website and extension, and the Search API uses a daily quota instead. The [MCP server](https://www.signalhire.com/mcp-server) is hosted and signs in with OAuth. [Its docs](https://docs.signalhire.com/mcp-server) say you need an existing SignalHire account, and the profile tool costs one credit per successful match and asks for your permission before it spends one. Our [SignalHire pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/signalhire-pricing/) covers API costs in full.

## How much does SignalHire cost?

On October 16, 2026, [SignalHire's pricing page](https://www.signalhire.com/pricing) listed paid plans at $69 a month for 1,000 email credits or 435 phone credits. Billed yearly, each costs $57 a month. Unlimited packages cost $79 for emails and $99 for phones on monthly billing, and the Scale tier is quote only. The free plan costs $0.

Two details need care. [SignalHire's terms](https://www.signalhire.com/terms) cap every Unlimited package at 2,000 credits a month and say it is for annual subscribers. The entry price is also unclear. The pricing text we could read showed $69 as the lowest card, yet [a guide from HeroHunt](https://www.herohunt.ai/blog/signalhire-pricing-2026-credits-cost-and-alternatives/), a rival recruiting tool, lists $49 plans with 600 email credits or 300 phone credits, and our [SignalHire alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/signalhire/) guide records the same $49 step. Check the slider before you buy. Plans renew automatically, and clause 9.9 of the terms says refunds are not offered, with one narrow exception. The [SignalHire pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/signalhire-pricing/) has the full plan table, cost per credit and renewal terms.

## Where does SignalHire get its data, and how accurate is it?

SignalHire says its contacts come from public sources, third parties and its own users. It names no providers, and it publishes no method behind its accuracy figures. Three of its pages describe the sources in slightly different words.

- **Terms of Use.** [The terms](https://www.signalhire.com/terms) say data is curated and indexed from publicly available sources across the internet, supplemented by third-party data and data that users upload.
- **Privacy policy.** [The policy](https://www.signalhire.com/privacy) says its professional profiles come from public web data. Its collection section also lists other users, site visitors and third parties.
- **Privacy FAQ.** [The FAQ](https://www.signalhire.com/privacy-faq) lists public sources, licensed third-party data providers and data from extension users.

The size and accuracy claims are SignalHire's own, and they change from page to page:

| SignalHire claim | Home page | Blog or sales page |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Profiles in the database | 900M+ | Over 820 million and 850M+ on the [blog](https://blog.signalhire.com/online-phone-finders-do-they-really-work/); 900M+ on the [sales page](https://www.signalhire.com/sales) |
| Email accuracy | 95%+ | Over 97% on the blog; 95% on the sales page |
| Phone accuracy | Not stated; says phones exist for up to 80% of people | Up to 80% on the blog |
| Bounce rate | 3 to 5% | Under 5%, called guaranteed, on the sales page |

Older listings go further apart. A listing on [HeroHunt's site](https://www.herohunt.ai/recruitment-solutions/signalhire/) still says 200 million candidate profiles. None of these pages explains how SignalHire counts a profile or measures accuracy. We ran no lookups, so we make no claim about quality.

Reviews point both ways. On October 16, 2026, [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/signalhire.com) listed 59 reviews, 61% at one star, 27% at five, and showed no TrustScore. Recent reviews praise ease of use and speed. They also complain about outdated phone numbers, refunds and profiles listed without consent. The [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/signalhire-find-email-or/aeidadjdhppdffggfgjpanbafaedankd) shows 5.0 from 636 ratings and about 400,000 users. Reviews are claims, so test any vendor on 20 of your own contacts first. Our guide to [B2B data decay](https://enrich.chat/blog/b2b-data-decay/) explains why even good data goes stale.

## Is SignalHire legit and safe to use?

Yes, SignalHire is a legitimate company with a working product. The risks sit in its billing terms, in how you use the data, and in LinkedIn's rules for browser extensions.

- **Company.** SignalHire Sp. z o.o. is named in the terms, the [privacy policy](https://www.signalhire.com/privacy) and the Chrome Web Store listing. The terms were updated August 31, 2026, and the policy on September 15, 2026.
- **Billing.** Plans renew automatically. The terms say refunds are not offered, except for proven unauthorized third-party activity. Set a reminder before each renewal.
- **Use rules.** The terms limit use to internal business purposes, bar resale of the data and bar scraping of the site. They also say you act as a data controller and must follow laws such as GDPR and CAN-SPAM.
- **Calling.** Rules such as the TCPA apply to you before you dial a mobile number. Read our guide to [TCPA rules for B2B cold calling](https://enrich.chat/blog/tcpa-b2b-cold-calling/). This is general information, not legal advice.
- **LinkedIn.** [LinkedIn's help page](https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a1341387) says it does not allow third-party tools, including browser extensions, that scrape, modify or automate activity on its site. It says members who use them risk restricted or shut-down accounts. It names no vendors. SignalHire's pricing FAQ lists LinkedIn among the sites its extension works on, and we make no claim about any tool.

If you want a route that never touches your LinkedIn session, see the last section and our guide to [LinkedIn scraping and the law](https://enrich.chat/blog/is-linkedin-scraping-legal/).

## How do you remove your profile from SignalHire?

Use the form on [SignalHire's opt-out page](https://www.signalhire.com/opt-out), or email its support team. The form covers one profile URL at a time, and removal applies to SignalHire only.

1. Find your profile on signalhire.com and copy its URL.
2. Enter a business email on the form. The page marks it as required and says it is used to confirm the profile is yours.
3. Confirm that you are the person, or are authorized to act for them. You also acknowledge that the information came from public sources, and that your email stays on an opt-out list.
4. Press Submit, or email support@signalhire.com if the form fails.

**Figure 2: Opting out of SignalHire: four steps and the stated times.** Four steps on SignalHire's opt-out page: find your profile page, enter a business email, confirm you are the person or their agent, and submit or email support. Below, a chart of the times SignalHire states. The opt-out page gives no deadline. The privacy policy gives 14 to 30 days for rights requests and 45 days for California and Virginia requests, and the privacy FAQ says valid requests typically take 30 to 45 days.

*The opt-out steps and the processing times SignalHire states. The privacy policy also says marketing opt-outs can take up to 10 business days. Timing is not fixed. [The opt-out page](https://www.signalhire.com/opt-out) says it will process your request promptly and gives no deadline. [The privacy policy](https://www.signalhire.com/privacy) gives 14 to 30 days for rights requests and 45 days for California and Virginia residents. [The privacy FAQ](https://www.signalhire.com/privacy-faq) says valid requests typically take 30 to 45 days, depending on where you live. The policy also offers a Do Not Sell page for California and Virginia residents and erasure rights for people in the UK and EU.

The page admits two limits. SignalHire can remove your details from its own search results, but it does not control the website the details came from. The request covers only the URL you give it. Each data seller has its own process, such as the one in our [RocketReach explainer](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-rocketreach/). Anyone can also ask to be removed from Enrich.chat at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/).

## When is SignalHire the better choice?

SignalHire is the better choice when you work inside its extension or web app, send candidates to an ATS, or want personal emails and phone numbers in one credit. It has strengths that Enrich.chat does not.

- **You work on profile pages.** The extension reveals contacts while you browse, and the free plan adds 10 credits a month once you install it.
- **You recruit with an ATS.** [SignalHire lists 16 ATS integrations](https://www.signalhire.com/integrations). Enrich.chat has none.
- **You want personal emails.** SignalHire's home page says it returns business and personal emails. Enrich.chat looks up work emails only.
- **You run lists and outreach in one place.** SignalHire has Lead Lists, Job Projects, bulk enrichment of up to 1,000 people a run and email sequences.
- **A big team shares one balance.** Paid plans list unlimited users, so a team shares one credit pool.

If those matter more than a plain API, SignalHire can be the right fit. Our [SignalHire alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/signalhire/) guide compares seven other tools, and [the best LinkedIn email finders](https://enrich.chat/blog/best-linkedin-email-finder/) ranks them by job. For a similar explainer on another vendor, read [what RocketReach is](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-rocketreach/).

## How can Enrich.chat do the same lookup without an extension?

Enrich.chat is a plain HTTPS API and an MCP server. You send a LinkedIn URL, and the JSON comes back in the same response with a work email, a mobile and the credits the lookup used. Nothing is installed in your browser, and Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn. A LinkedIn URL is only a lookup key.

The call is `GET /v1/person`. It takes a LinkedIn URL, a work email, or a name plus a company website. Personal mailboxes such as Gmail are not looked up, and a company name alone is not supported. The example below uses a fictional person on example.com.

```
curl -G "https://enrich.chat/v1/person" \
  --data-urlencode "linkedin_url=linkedin.com/in/jane-doe-example" \
  --data-urlencode "fields=email,mobile"
# Illustrative response, fictional person
{
  "found": true,
  "name": "Jane Doe",
  "title": "VP Operations",
  "company": {"name": "Example Logistics"},
  "linkedin_url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe-example",
  "work_email": {"value": "jane.doe@example.com", "status": "verified"},
  "mobile": {"value": "+1 415 555 0142", "line": "mobile"},
  "credits_used": 260,
  "free_lookups_remaining": 9
}
```

**Figure 3: One LinkedIn URL in, one JSON response out.** An illustrative Enrich.chat lookup. A GET request to /v1/person with a LinkedIn URL and fields email and mobile goes in. The response returns a work email with the status verified and a mobile with the line label mobile. The credits used are 10 for the work email plus 250 for the mobile, which equals 260. A lookup that finds nothing uses 0 credits.

*An illustrative Enrich.chat person lookup with fictional data. The email status is a label, not a delivery guarantee. Sources: [Enrich.chat agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md), [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

Each found work email carries a status: verified, catch_all or unknown. Each mobile is labeled mobile or unknown. These are labels, not a delivery guarantee, so treat every contact as a strong lead. A lookup that finds nothing returns `found: false` and uses 0 credits.

### What does the same work cost in credits?

A work email costs 10 credits and a mobile costs 250. A SignalHire credit covers a person's emails and phones together, so the two meters differ. This table prices three monthly workloads in each. SignalHire figures are the plans on its pricing page, checked October 16, 2026.

| Monthly workload | SignalHire plan that covers it | Enrich.chat credits | Enrich.chat plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 400 work emails and 60 mobiles | Emails and Phones: 400 of 435 credits, $69 a month, or $57 billed yearly | 19,000 | Growth, $29 a month |
| 150 contacts with email and mobile | Emails and Phones: 150 of 435 credits, $69 a month, or $57 billed yearly | 39,000 | Growth, $29 a month |
| 1,500 contacts with email and mobile | Emails and Phones Unlimited: up to 2,000 credits, $83 a month billed yearly | 390,000 | Scale, $90 a month |

These assume every lookup finds both fields, which is the highest cost. Mobiles drive the Enrich.chat credit count, so a phone-heavy list changes the result quickly. Enrich.chat plans are billed monthly with no annual contract and unlimited seats. Credits renew with each monthly payment, and unused credits do not roll over. The full rates are on the [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).

### How do you start?

Add the MCP server at `https://enrich.chat/mcp` to your AI assistant, or paste the prompt below so your agent reads [enrich.chat/agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md). The [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click steps for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and others. A key is optional, and each IP address gets 10 free lookups a day with no signup. When they run out, the API returns a 402 with a link to your [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), where you log in, pick a plan and pay at checkout.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find the work email for each candidate LinkedIn URL below, then the mobile only for the ones I mark as shortlisted. Go one at a time at about one request a second, mark misses as not found, flag catch_all emails as risky, and total the credits_used at the end: [paste LinkedIn URLs and mark the shortlisted ones]
```

To test one profile first, use the free [LinkedIn email finder](https://enrich.chat/tools/linkedin-email-finder/). The [LinkedIn URL to contact API](https://enrich.chat/api/linkedin-to-contact/) page shows the request and response in more detail, and [our guide to finding emails on LinkedIn](https://enrich.chat/blog/find-email-on-linkedin/) covers other methods.

### Where does Enrich.chat fall short of SignalHire?

- **No extension and no ATS integrations.** You paste a URL into a prompt or an API call instead of clicking a button on a profile. Your agent or code writes the result into your ATS or sheet.
- **No saved lists, bulk export or sequences.** On self-serve plans there are no Job Projects, Lead Lists, bulk files or email sending. Results come back one request at a time.
- **Work emails only.** The email input does not look up personal mailboxes such as Gmail, and a company must be a website, not a name.
- **No bulk calls and no SDKs yet.** A person lookup handles one person. The search call returns about 25 people at most. SDKs are planned, not available.
