# What is UpLead? How its credits, email verification and plans work

UpLead sells B2B contacts on monthly credits. Here is what it does, how a credit and an email check work, what reviewers say, how to ask it to remove your details, and when another route fits better.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 16, 2026.

**Short answer:** UpLead is a B2B contact and company database from UpLead, LLC, which says it was founded in 2017. You search it by title, industry and company size, then spend one credit per contact to download a work email and mobile direct dial. [Its plans](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/) start at $99 a month for 170 credits, checked October 16, 2026.

## Key takeaways

- UpLead, LLC sells business contacts and company data on credits. One credit buys one contact with an email and a mobile direct dial, and the email is checked as you download it.
- UpLead claims 95% accuracy, and 97% or more for emails marked Valid at the moment of download. Its Terms disclaim accuracy, and we found no independent test.
- Prices checked October 16, 2026: Essentials $99 for 170 credits, Plus $199 for 400, Professional quoted. Essentials and Plus are single-user plans, and credits do not roll over.
- Trustpilot shows 4.2 from 90 reviews. The low ones mention trouble cancelling after the free trial. Anyone can ask UpLead to delete their details with its opt-out form.
- For 100 contacts with an email and a mobile, UpLead needs 100 credits and an Essentials plan at $99. Enrich.chat needs 26,000 credits, which fits the Growth plan at $29.

## What is UpLead?

UpLead is a B2B contact and company database that you pay for in monthly credits. Sales and marketing teams search it by job title, industry, company size and other filters. They spend one credit to download a person's work email and mobile direct dial, per [UpLead's pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/).

The contracting party in [UpLead's Terms](https://www.uplead.com/terms-and-conditions/) is UpLead, LLC. [The About page](https://www.uplead.com/about-us/) says Will Cannon has been chief executive since founding the company in 2017. The [Chrome Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/uplead-find-emails-on-web/odnlhpgfojmkjbpbhgbmkohlbeincomi) gives the developer's address as Covina, California. None of the pages we read state a headcount.

UpLead's size claims are its own, and its pages do not agree. [The homepage](https://www.uplead.com/) claims 200M+ leads and a 95% accuracy guarantee. The About page counts 16M+ global companies, while [Our Data](https://www.uplead.com/our-data/) says 19M+. A February 2025 [sign-up article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10474065-how-to-sign-up-for-uplead) says 160+ million contacts. We found no independent count.

## How does UpLead work?

You filter a database, preview the matches, spend a credit to reveal or download a contact, and export the file or send it to a CRM. Figure 1 shows where the credit goes.

**Figure 1: Where a credit is spent in an UpLead lookup.** Three steps in order. Search and preview costs no credit, because company details and limited contact information are visible. Revealing a contact or company costs 1 credit the first time, and the email is checked as it is downloaded. Exporting to a CSV file or a CRM, and re-downloading from the Downloads list, costs nothing more. A band underneath says the Chrome extension, CSV enrichment and API records spend credits too.

UpLead's pieces, from its own pages and help articles:

- **Prospector.** The search app. [UpLead's filter guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10696010-uplead-filters-what-are-they-and-how-do-i-use-them) lists filters for job title, job function, management level, location, company, industry, employee count, revenue, technologies in use, funding and year founded. A saved search stores filters, exclusions and sorting, and [UpLead warns](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10682358-using-and-managing-saved-searches-on-uplead) its results can change from one data update to the next.
- **Email Finder.** You enter a name plus a company name or URL, per [UpLead's Email Finder page](https://www.uplead.com/email-finder/), which says you pay only for valid results and that no match means no charge.
- **Data Enrichment.** You upload a CSV with first name, last name and company URL, and UpLead appends fields. [The enrichment guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10696522-contact-enrichment-enhancing-contact-details-with-uplead) charges per contact on each run, so enriching one contact three times costs three credits. A contact it cannot match is refunded after the run.
- **Chrome extension.** It shows UpLead data on company websites and LinkedIn profile pages, per [UpLead's help article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10632336-how-to-use-uplead-s-chrome-extension). Its [Web Store listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/uplead-find-emails-on-web/odnlhpgfojmkjbpbhgbmkohlbeincomi) showed 4.8 from 19 ratings and 6,000 users on October 16, 2026.
- **API and integrations.** [UpLead's API docs](https://docs.uplead.com/) describe a v2 API with a key on every call and 500 requests a minute. [The pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/) lists 15 CRM and sales-tool connectors plus Zapier. Which plan holds which feature is in our [UpLead pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/uplead-pricing/).
- **Technographics and intent.** Search by the technologies a company uses, and layer buyer intent topics on top. The pricing page says 16,000+ technologies and the [technographics page](https://www.uplead.com/technographics/) says 27,000+. [UpLead's comparison page](https://www.uplead.com/uplead-vs-zoominfo/) says intent signals reach customers through a Bombora integration. Our guides to [technographic data](https://enrich.chat/blog/technographic-data/) and [intent data](https://enrich.chat/blog/intent-data/) explain both.

## How do UpLead credits work?

One UpLead credit equals one contact or one company. [UpLead's credit guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/5621272-what-is-a-credit) says a credit is spent the first time you reveal, export or download a record, and you are not charged twice for the same one.

- **What is free.** Viewing company details and limited contact information costs nothing. A record already in your Downloads list can be re-downloaded or re-exported for free.
- **Validation.** Validating the contacts in a search does not use credits. [The validation guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10696820-how-to-validate-multiple-contacts-at-once) says you are charged only when you download contacts you have already revealed.
- **The API.** A person, company or combined result costs 1 credit per record, and a contact with an email is charged only if the email comes back Valid or Accept All, per the [API docs](https://docs.uplead.com/).
- **No rollover.** [UpLead's Terms](https://www.uplead.com/terms-and-conditions/) say unused credits do not carry into the next renewal term. On a monthly plan, a month with 100 contacts on Essentials leaves 70 of the 170 credits unused, and they expire.

UpLead sells extra credits when you run out. For the price per credit on each plan, and what the extra credits cost, read our [UpLead pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/uplead-pricing/).

## How does UpLead verify emails, and how accurate is it?

UpLead checks each email when you download or export it, labels it Valid, Accept All or Invalid, and lets you choose which labels you pay for. It claims 95% accuracy overall and 97% or more for Valid emails at the moment of download. Those are two different measures.

**Figure 2: What each UpLead email setting downloads and charges.** A grid of three email settings against three statuses. Valid Only downloads and charges for Valid emails. Valid and Accept All downloads and charges for Valid and Accept All emails. All Available Emails downloads and charges for all three, including Invalid emails, which are marked invalid. Below the grid, Valid means the mail server confirms the address can receive email, Accept All means the server takes every message so it cannot be fully confirmed, and Invalid means the address cannot be verified.

*The three email settings in UpLead's account and what each one charges for, per UpLead's [verification guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/5621422-am-i-charged-a-credit-for-email-addresses-that-are-not-verified), checked October 16, 2026. Its [validation guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10696820-how-to-validate-multiple-contacts-at-once) says invalid emails stay blank in the file, so confirm the charge with support before you pick the third setting.*

UpLead makes four kinds of statement about accuracy, and they do not carry equal weight:

- **The pipeline.** [Our Data](https://www.uplead.com/our-data/) says AI anomaly detection removes stale records, real-time verification runs at download, and researchers review what cannot be verified.
- **The two numbers.** The homepage claims 95% accuracy. Our Data says a Valid email is 97% or more verified at the moment of download. The second figure covers only emails already marked Valid.
- **The guarantee.** The About page says customers get credits back if accuracy falls below 95%. The homepage promises a refund for bounces and poor data, and [UpLead's comparison page](https://www.uplead.com/uplead-vs-zoominfo/) says a bounced email's credit is refunded outright.
- **The fine print.** The Terms say UpLead does not warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of the data. A [July 2026 help article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/12831225-why-are-my-emails-getting-bounced) says the 95% is measured at download and does not guarantee zero bounces. It gives no refund rule, and we found no page that explains how to claim one.

Phone numbers get less detail. [The pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/) describes mobile direct dials as non-HQ lines and says UpLead verifies phone numbers, but it gives no accuracy figure. [UpLead's help article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10666834-maximizing-data-accuracy-getting-reliable-contact-numbers-with-uplead) says not every contact has a verified phone number and that accuracy can change over time.

Treat an Accept All address as a risk, as with any [catch-all email](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-a-catch-all-email/). The free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/) shows whether a domain accepts every address. For why any list goes stale, read [how fast B2B contact data goes bad](https://enrich.chat/blog/b2b-data-decay/) and our guide to [email bounce rate](https://enrich.chat/blog/email-bounce-rate/).

## Which UpLead plan do you need?

Essentials suits one person who needs emails and mobiles with a CRM link. Plus adds technographics and enrichment for one prospector. Professional is the team plan, billed annually. These were UpLead's monthly-billing prices on October 16, 2026.

| UpLead plan | Monthly billing | Credits | What it adds |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free trial | $0 for 7 days | 5 in total | Verified emails, mobile direct dials, Chrome extension |
| Essentials | $99 a month | 170 a month | CRM integrations, Zapier |
| Plus | $199 a month | 400 a month | Technographics, data enrichment, advanced filters, suppression lists |
| Professional | Annual only, quoted | Custom | Intent data, all filters, full API, two-way CRM sync, team management |

Source: [UpLead's pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/). Free, Essentials and Plus are single-user accounts. Annual billing shows $74 and $149 a month for Essentials and Plus.

Two terms matter before you start. The trial needs a card, and [UpLead's sign-up article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10474065-how-to-sign-up-for-uplead) says an account not canceled by day 7 is billed $890 for Essentials Annual. And [UpLead's contract article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/5621338-is-there-a-contract) says monthly plans cancel any time, while annual plans need 60 days' notice before renewal. The trial, renewal and refund rules are in our [UpLead pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/uplead-pricing/).

## Where does UpLead get its data, and how do you opt out?

UpLead says it gathers business profiles from people who submit them, from public information and from third parties that license data to it. Anyone can ask it to show or delete their profile through an opt-out form.

On sourcing, [Our Data](https://www.uplead.com/our-data/) says UpLead searches millions of public documents, licenses data from third parties, and uses machine learning and rules to sort it. UpLead's [privacy policy](https://www.uplead.com/privacy/) names three routes: individuals who submit data, public information, and third-party companies that collect information for UpLead and license it to it. A profile can hold a name, business email, business phone (sometimes a mobile), company, job title, city, photo, education, work history and public social handles. The policy says profiles are not always complete.

### How do you ask UpLead to remove your details?

1. **Open the form.** Go to [UpLead's opt-out page](https://www.uplead.com/opt-out/).
2. **Fill in your details.** The form asks for a contact email, your privacy jurisdiction (CCPA, VDPA, OCPA, TDPSA, GDPR or Other) and a request type: request your information, or delete it.
3. **Confirm you own the address.** [UpLead's removal article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10836637-data-removal-requests-handled-correctly) says you confirm by email or text message, and UpLead then sends a report or processes the deletion.

On timing, the privacy policy says UpLead responds to legitimate requests within one month. The removal article says deletions are processed once ownership is confirmed and other requests take up to 30 days. The policy reports a median response of 15 days for deletion requests in its 2024 metrics. The opt-out page says an opt-out of sale or sharing applies from then on. It does not say how long a request takes.

### What if a stranger's email mentions UpLead?

UpLead sends its own account emails, such as the day-5 trial reminder in its sign-up article. A cold email from someone else is not from UpLead. The sender may have used UpLead or any other data source, and the message will not say which. Removing your profile from UpLead does not remove it from other databases.

The legal duty to follow the rules stays with the sender. UpLead's Terms require customers to follow laws such as CAN-SPAM, the TCPA and GDPR. This is not legal advice. Our guide to [B2B cold calling and the TCPA](https://enrich.chat/blog/tcpa-b2b-cold-calling/) covers the practical side.

## Is UpLead legit, and what do reviewers say?

UpLead is an operating company with published terms and a named legal entity. Reviews are mixed on billing and cancellation, and warmer on the product. Scores differ by site.

- **Trustpilot.** [UpLead's page there](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/uplead.com) showed 4.2 from 90 reviews on October 16, 2026, with 67% at five stars and 21% at one star. It says UpLead has not replied to negative reviews. Two one-star reviews dated April and June 2026 describe trouble cancelling, one with a charge after a trial. A May 2026 review says saved searches lost their settings, and a December 2025 review says many listed companies no longer existed. Trustpilot does not fact-check reviews, so treat these as anecdotes.
- **Chrome Web Store.** The extension shows 4.8 from 19 ratings and 6,000 users. That covers people who installed it, not all customers.
- **G2.** UpLead's own pages cite 824 G2 reviews and call it the highest-rated lead intelligence software there. We did not read G2, so that is UpLead's claim.

If you only want to test UpLead, cancel before day 7. [The sign-up article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/10474065-how-to-sign-up-for-uplead) says to open your profile, then Billing, then Cancel Plan, and it is wise to keep the confirmation.

## When is UpLead the better choice?

UpLead is the better choice when one person or a small team builds lists in an app and wants a clear per-contact price. It has real strengths:

- **A prospecting app.** Search with 50+ filters, saved searches, exclusions and suppression-list uploads on Plus. Enrich.chat's dashboard also has people and company search, saved searches and a do-not-contact list, so compare the filters you need.
- **One credit for email and mobile.** You budget per contact, not per field, and every plan includes the Chrome extension.
- **Integrations.** Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and other CRM and sales-tool connectors, plus Zapier, from Essentials up.
- **Technographic search and intent data.** Plus searches companies by technology, and Professional adds buyer intent topics.
- **A check at download.** You can pay for Valid emails only.

UpLead is a weaker fit when the data must flow into an agent or your own app, or when you need several seats before Professional. Our [UpLead alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/uplead/) guide ranks other options, and [UpLead vs ZoomInfo](https://enrich.chat/compare/uplead-vs-zoominfo/) covers the enterprise route.

## How does UpLead compare with paying per match on Enrich.chat?

UpLead sells one credit per contact from a plan with a fixed number of credits. Enrich.chat charges per field, in credits: 10 for a work email, 250 for a mobile, and 0 when nothing is found. Take the same 100 contacts, with an email and a mobile for each.

On UpLead, 100 contacts use 100 credits. That fits Essentials at $99 on monthly billing, which includes 170, so 70 go unused. On Enrich.chat, the same list needs 26,000 credits. That fits the Growth plan at $29 a month, or $7.54 at that plan's own per-credit rate. For 100 work emails only, UpLead still uses 100 credits because it publishes no email-only price, while Enrich.chat needs 1,000 credits on the Growth plan.

**Figure 3: Monthly cost of 100 contacts on UpLead and on Enrich.chat.** Bar chart of the monthly cost of looking up 100 people. For 100 contacts with an email and a mobile, UpLead Essentials costs $99 a month on monthly billing and uses 100 of its 170 credits. On Enrich.chat the same 100 contacts need 26,000 credits, which fits the Growth plan at $29 a month, or $7.54 at the plan's per-credit rate. For 100 work emails only, UpLead still costs $99 and Enrich.chat needs 1,000 credits on the Growth plan at $29 a month.

*The same 100 contacts priced on UpLead and Enrich.chat. UpLead uses its monthly list price checked October 16, 2026, and every credit is one contact. The orange bar is the plan you would pay for, and the light bar is only the share of that plan the credits use. Both services return different data, so this compares price only. Sources: [UpLead pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/), [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

Here is one lookup, as an agent would send it. The person is fictional and the response is illustrative.

```
GET https://enrich.chat/v1/person
    ?linkedin_url=linkedin.com/in/jordan-rivera-example
    &fields=email,mobile
{"found": true,
 "name": "Jordan Rivera",
 "title": "Head of Operations",
 "company": {"name": "Example Co"},
 "work_email": {"value": "jordan.rivera@example.com", "status": "verified"},
 "mobile": {"value": "+1 415 555 0100", "line": "mobile"},
 "credits_used": 260,
 "free_lookups_remaining": 9}
```

Each work email comes back as verified, catch_all or unknown, and each mobile with its line type, so you see the status of every field. These are labels, not a delivery guarantee. When a person is not found, you get `{"found": false}` and 0 credits. A person lookup takes a LinkedIn URL, a work email, or a name plus a company website, and Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn. Personal mailboxes such as Gmail are not looked up, and a company name alone is not supported. The first 10 lookups a day need no signup, and a key is optional. Paste this prompt into your agent:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find the work email and mobile number for each of these 100 people, going about one request a second. Show each email status, mark anyone not found, and give me the match count and total credits_used so I can compare it with an UpLead plan: [paste a LinkedIn URL, or full name and company website, per row]
```

Add the MCP server at `enrich.chat/mcp` or have your agent read [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md). The [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has one-click steps. See the [people enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/) for the full contract, try one profile in the free [LinkedIn email finder](https://enrich.chat/tools/linkedin-email-finder/), and read the [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan. Plans have unlimited seats and no annual contract, and credits renew monthly without rolling over.

Enrich.chat has four honest gaps next to UpLead:

- **No spreadsheet-style table builder like Clay's.** UpLead is a search app with saved searches and exclusion lists. Enrich.chat has plain-English and filter search in its dashboard and API, with saved searches, lists and a do-not-contact list, but a search returns 25 people a page and reaches at most 1,000, and bulk files come only with a custom Enterprise plan.
- **No intent data.** UpLead sells intent topics on Professional and technology search on Plus. Enrich.chat has no intent data. It filters by technology used (see [technographic search](https://enrich.chat/features/technographic-search/)) and looks up one company's tech stack for 5 credits, as in the [tech stack lookup](https://enrich.chat/tools/tech-stack-lookup/).
- **No Chrome extension, CRM app or sequencing.** You call the API or MCP server from your own workflow. SDKs are planned, not available.
- **Narrower inputs.** A lookup needs a LinkedIn URL, a work email, a person id from a search or a name plus a company website. Pace is about one request a second.

The two services return different data, and this page makes no claim about which finds more of your list. Run a small test on both before you commit. Anyone can ask to be removed from Enrich.chat at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and you stay responsible for TCPA, CAN-SPAM and GDPR rules. Other vendors price differently: see [Lusha pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/lusha-pricing/) and [RocketReach pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/rocketreach-pricing/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What is UpLead used for?

Sales and marketing teams use UpLead to build lists of business contacts and download each person's work email and mobile direct dial. [UpLead's homepage](https://www.uplead.com/) lists a search with 50+ filters, a Chrome extension, CSV and CRM enrichment, an API and CRM integrations. It runs on credits, and one credit buys one contact or company. Our [UpLead pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/uplead-pricing/) lists every plan.

### How does UpLead work?

You filter UpLead's database in a web app, preview the matches, and spend one credit to reveal or download a contact. [UpLead's credit guide](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/5621272-what-is-a-credit) says viewing company details and limited contact details is free, and re-downloads cost nothing. Each email is checked as you download it and labelled Valid, Accept All or Invalid. You then export a CSV file or send the list to a CRM.

### Is UpLead legit?

UpLead is an operating company: its [Terms](https://www.uplead.com/terms-and-conditions/) name UpLead, LLC, and its Chrome extension has 4.8 from 19 ratings on the [Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/uplead-find-emails-on-web/odnlhpgfojmkjbpbhgbmkohlbeincomi). [Trustpilot](https://www.trustpilot.com/review/uplead.com) showed 4.2 from 90 reviews on October 16, 2026, and the low ones mention trouble cancelling after a trial. Reviews are anecdotes, and Trustpilot does not verify them.

### How much does UpLead cost?

On October 16, 2026, [UpLead's pricing page](https://www.uplead.com/pricing/) listed Essentials at $99 a month for 170 credits and Plus at $199 for 400 on monthly billing, with Professional quoted by sales. The free trial gives 5 credits for 7 days. Annual billing shows $74 and $149 a month. Our [UpLead pricing guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/uplead-pricing/) covers the trial terms and the cost per contact.

### What is an UpLead email?

The phrase has two meanings. In the product, an UpLead email is an address revealed from its database, labelled Valid, Accept All or Invalid when you download it. It can also mean a message from UpLead to an account holder, such as a trial reminder. A cold email from a stranger is not from UpLead, and the sender may have used any data source. To remove your own details, use [UpLead's opt-out form](https://www.uplead.com/opt-out/).

### How accurate is UpLead's email verification?

UpLead claims 95% accuracy and says an email marked Valid is 97% or more verified at the moment of download, per [its Our Data page](https://www.uplead.com/our-data/). Its [Terms](https://www.uplead.com/terms-and-conditions/) say it does not warrant accuracy, and a [July 2026 help article](https://support.uplead.com/en/articles/12831225-why-are-my-emails-getting-bounced) says the check does not guarantee zero bounces. We found no independent test, so check a sample of your own list.
