# Clay vs ZoomInfo in 2026: pricing, contracts, data and who each one fits

Clay builds enrichment workflows on top of 150+ data partners. ZoomInfo sells a data platform by quote, usually on a multi-year contract. This page compares both on price, data, phones, AI agents and lock-in.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** Clay is a workflow builder over 150+ data partners, from $185 a month with unlimited seats ([Clay pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing)). ZoomInfo is a data and intent platform with no published prices, sold on contracts that typically run one to three years and are non-cancelable ([ZoomInfo's 10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1794515/000179451526000012/zi-20251231.htm)). Pick Clay to build enrichment, ZoomInfo for a finished platform, or Enrich.chat for contact data inside your agent from $29 a month.

## Key takeaways

- Clay publishes prices: Launch is $185 a month billed monthly or $167 billed annually, and Growth is $495 or $446. Seats are unlimited.
- ZoomInfo publishes no platform prices. Vendr's buyer data puts the median ZoomInfo contract at $33,500 a year and the median Clay contract at $59,996 a year.
- ZoomInfo contracts typically run one to three years and are non-cancelable, per its 10-K. Clay bills monthly or annually, and only Enterprise requires an annual commitment.
- Both connect to AI tools over MCP. ZoomInfo's connector signs in with your ZoomInfo credentials, and Clay's runs Functions that your team builds in Clay.
- Clay has a native ZoomInfo integration, but it runs on your own ZoomInfo account, so you pay for both.

## Quick verdict

Pick **Clay** to build your own enrichment workflows, **ZoomInfo** for a finished data and intent platform you buy by quote, and **Enrich.chat** if your agent or app only needs work emails and mobiles.

- Build custom workflows: Clay (150+ data partners, unlimited seats)
- Finished platform with intent: ZoomInfo (By quote, one to three year contracts)
- Contact data in your agent: Enrich.chat (Monthly credit plans, unlimited seats)

## Side by side

- **Clay** (Best for workflow builders): A table and workflow builder over 150+ data partners, with waterfalls, Claygent research and an email sequencer. Prices are public and seats are unlimited, but you build and run the tables.
- **ZoomInfo** (Best for a finished data platform): A sales app on a large database, with intent data, CRM integrations and a dialer. Prices come by quote, and paid contracts typically run one to three years.

## What is the difference between Clay and ZoomInfo?

Clay is a workflow builder that buys contact data from many providers, and ZoomInfo is a data platform with its own database, sold by quote. In Clay you build a table that enriches each row. In ZoomInfo you search the platform and export contacts, usually under a multi-year contract.

- **Clay** works like a spreadsheet. Each row is a person or a company, and each column runs an enrichment, an AI prompt or an export. [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) lists 150+ data partners, multi-provider waterfalls and its AI research agent, Claygent, on every plan, with unlimited seats and tables.
- **ZoomInfo** is a finished app on top of a large database. [ZoomInfo's data page](https://www.zoominfo.com/data) says it is built on 500M+ professional profiles and intent signals from 4,500+ topics. Its [pricing page](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing) lists mobile numbers, CRM integrations, a Chrome extension and intelligent dialing on the Professional plan.

Clay suits a team that wants to design its own data pipeline. ZoomInfo suits a team that wants a ready-made app. [Clay's own comparison post](https://www.clay.com/blog/clay-vs-zoominfo) draws the same line, so read it as a vendor's view. Teams that only need contact data inside an AI agent or app often need neither.

**Figure 1: The same job in Clay, ZoomInfo and Enrich.chat.** Three columns show how each tool gets you a work email for one lead. In Clay you build a table, choose providers and run a waterfall, so you build the pipeline and pay a plan fee, data credits and Actions. In ZoomInfo you get a quote, search records and export contacts from an app ZoomInfo ships, and pay for seats and credits on a contract. With Enrich.chat you paste one prompt or add the MCP server, your agent calls the API, and each field comes back with a status, paid with monthly plan credits.

## Where do Clay and ZoomInfo get their data?

ZoomInfo sells records from its own database, while Clay buys each field from partners in its marketplace and bills you for it. That difference shapes how each tool charges for an email or a phone number.

### How ZoomInfo finds and bills contact data

ZoomInfo says its data is backed by AI and human validation, per its [data page](https://www.zoominfo.com/data). A credit is used each time you export a contact or company profile, including through an integration, per [ZoomInfo's pricing FAQ](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing). Its API, MCP and CLI product, GTM AI, lists a waterfall across 25+ vendors as an Enterprise feature, per [GTM AI's pricing page](https://gtm.ai/pricing).

### How Clay finds and bills contact data

A Clay column asks providers in an order you set, called a waterfall, and stops at the first valid result. Clay bills data in data credits, from $0.05 each, and its own work in Actions, which cost under $0.01 each, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). An enrichment that returns nothing uses no credits or Actions, per [Clay's FAQ](https://www.clay.com/faq/do-unsuccessful-searches-consume-data-credits-what-about-actions), although each waterfall step that returns data or runs a validation does. [Clay's billing docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing) put a fully enriched record, with profiles, email, phone and AI columns, at 6 to 20 data credits.

| How data is billed | Clay | ZoomInfo | Enrich.chat |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What you buy | Data credits from $0.05 and Actions under $0.01 | Licenses and credits, sized by quote | A monthly plan of credits |
| What spends a credit | Data returned by a provider | Each export of a contact or company profile | A match: 10 credits per work email, 250 per mobile |
| A lookup with no result | No credits, no Actions | Not stated on its pricing page | 0 credits |
| Unused credits | Data credits roll over up to 2x the monthly amount, Actions reset | Not published: its guide says to ask before you sign | Renew with each monthly payment, no rollover |

## How much do Clay and ZoomInfo cost?

Clay publishes its prices and starts at $185 a month billed monthly. ZoomInfo publishes no platform prices, and its own pricing guide says paid plans are custom-quoted. We read both vendors' pages on October 15, 2026.

| Plan | List price | What you get |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Clay Free | $0 | 100 data credits and 500 Actions a month, up to 200 rows a table, no phone enrichment |
| Clay Launch | $185 a month, or $167 a month billed annually | 2,500 data credits and 15,000 Actions a month, phone enrichment, signals, up to 50,000 rows a table |
| Clay Growth | $495 a month, or $446 a month billed annually | 6,000 data credits and 40,000 Actions a month, CRM sync, HTTP API calls, web intent signals |
| Clay Enterprise | Custom, annual commitment | 100,000+ data credits and 200,000+ Actions a month, SSO, bulk enrichment |
| ZoomInfo Lite | $0 | 10 credits a month, or 25 with Community Edition |
| ZoomInfo Professional and Copilot plans | Not published, by quote | Licenses and credits sized to your team, with a free trial |
| ZoomInfo Sales Basic on AWS Marketplace | $3,000 for 12 months | 1 user and 2,000 bulk credits, with 24 and 36 month prices on request |
| ZoomInfo GTM AI | Credits from $20 | 1,000 free data credits and 1,000 AI credits, then about $0.38 a data credit in a 5,000 pack, with no contract |

Prices come from [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing), [ZoomInfo's pricing page](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing), [ZoomInfo's pricing guide](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/sales/how-much-does-zoominfo-cost), [the AWS Marketplace listing](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-ckg6rmyo3zsmw) and [GTM AI's pricing page](https://gtm.ai/pricing), checked on October 15, 2026.

Vendr, a software buying service, reports what its customers actually paid. [Its ZoomInfo page](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/zoominfo) shows a median of $33,500 a year across 1,577 purchases, with deals from $7,240 to $156,042. [Its Clay page](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/clay) shows a median of $59,996 a year across 96 purchases, from $16,500 to $170,000. Both pages were last updated in February 2026.

Those medians sit far above Clay's $185 starter price. Vendr's figures come from contracts its customers negotiated, so they describe larger buyers. Read them as a sign of where bills can go as usage grows, not as a quote. Clay's billing docs size Launch for teams enriching fewer than 1,000 records a month and Growth for 1,000 to 10,000.

**Figure 2: What each tool costs to start, per month.** Bar chart of list prices a month, checked October 15, 2026. Enrich.chat Growth costs $29 for 100,000 credits. Clay Launch costs $167 a month billed annually or $185 billed monthly, and Clay Growth costs $495 billed monthly. ZoomInfo Sales Basic on AWS Marketplace costs $3,000 for 12 months, about $250 a month, for one user. ZoomInfo Professional and the Copilot plans have no list price and are sold by quote.

*What you pay to start, per month, at list prices on October 15, 2026. Plan sizes differ, so this shows the entry price, not the cost per record. ZoomInfo Sales Basic is the AWS Marketplace listing: $3,000 for 12 months, one user and 2,000 bulk credits. Sources: [Clay pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing), [AWS Marketplace](https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-ckg6rmyo3zsmw), [ZoomInfo pricing](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing) and [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

Enrich.chat sells monthly credit plans from $29 for 100,000 credits, with unlimited seats. A work email costs 10 credits and a mobile found costs 250. The same 1,000 contacts with a work email and a mobile need 260,000 credits, which fits the Scale plan at $90 a month. A lookup with no match uses 0 credits. The [Enrich.chat pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) has the full rate card, and our guides to [Clay pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/clay-pricing/) and [ZoomInfo pricing](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-pricing/) go through every plan.

## Do Clay or ZoomInfo lock you into a contract?

ZoomInfo's paid contracts typically run one to three years and are non-cancelable, while Clay sells monthly and annual plans and asks for an annual commitment only on Enterprise.

- **ZoomInfo paid plans.** ZoomInfo's [10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1794515/000179451526000012/zi-20251231.htm) says its subscription contracts typically run one to three years and are non-cancelable, and that about 53% of contracts by value are multi-year. Section 3.1 of its [license terms](https://www.zoominfo.com/legal/ltc) says the agreement is not cancellable. Its [pricing guide](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/sales/how-much-does-zoominfo-cost) adds that monthly billing is not standard, and [Vendr](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/zoominfo) says notice periods typically run 30 to 90 days.
- **ZoomInfo free options.** ZoomInfo Lite has no contract and no auto-renewal, per its pricing guide. GTM AI sells credits with no contract, per [its pricing page](https://gtm.ai/pricing).
- **Clay.** Launch and Growth bill monthly or annually, with 10% off annual billing, per [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). The same page says Enterprise carries an annual commitment. Clay offers a 14-day trial with 1,000 data credits and no phone enrichment, per [its billing docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/plans-and-billing).
- **Unused credits.** Clay data credits roll over up to 2x the monthly amount on Launch and Growth, and Actions reset each cycle. ZoomInfo's guide tells buyers to ask whether credits roll over. Enrich.chat credits renew with each monthly payment, and unused credits do not roll over.

**Figure 3: How long you are committed once you pay.** Timeline in months. An Enrich.chat plan and a Clay plan billed monthly commit you for one month. A Clay plan billed annually commits you for 12 months. A ZoomInfo paid contract typically runs one to three years and is non-cancelable. ZoomInfo Lite and GTM AI credits have no contract.

*The shortest commitment each option asks for. Clay Enterprise requires an annual commitment, and ZoomInfo terms are set in your order form. Sources: [ZoomInfo 10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1794515/000179451526000012/zi-20251231.htm), [ZoomInfo pricing guide](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/sales/how-much-does-zoominfo-cost), [Clay pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing) and [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

Enrich.chat plans are billed monthly with unlimited seats and no annual contract, and you can cancel anytime. Our guide to the [ZoomInfo free tier](https://enrich.chat/blog/is-zoominfo-free/) covers Lite in more detail.

## How do Clay and ZoomInfo compare on mobiles, intent, outreach and AI agents?

ZoomInfo ships more finished sales tools, such as intent data and a dialer. Clay lets you assemble similar workflows from providers and signals. Both connect to AI tools over MCP.

### Mobile numbers

Clay adds phone enrichment from Launch, and its Free plan and trial leave it out. ZoomInfo's Professional plan lists mobile numbers and business email, and [its data page](https://www.zoominfo.com/data) claims 135M+ direct dials. Enrich.chat charges 250 credits for each mobile found and returns a line type of mobile or unknown. See our guide to [direct dials](https://enrich.chat/blog/direct-dials/).

### Intent and signals

ZoomInfo lists buyer intent signals on Copilot Advanced and real-time intent on Copilot Enterprise, and its pricing guide sells Streaming Intent as an add-on. Clay lists signals for job changes, promotions, hires, company news and social activity on Launch, and web intent signals on Growth. Enrich.chat has no intent data. See our [intent data guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/intent-data/).

### Outreach

ZoomInfo Professional lists intelligent dialing, and its pricing guide says the Engage add-on brings sequences and a dialer. [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing) lists the Clay Sequencer for email and no dialer. Enrich.chat has neither, so you bring your own outreach tool.

### AI agents and MCP

- **ZoomInfo MCP** works with Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Replit. You sign in with your ZoomInfo credentials, and the ChatGPT and Claude connectors give 100 free credits at sign-up, per [ZoomInfo's MCP page](https://www.zoominfo.com/solutions/zoominfo-mcp). Its pricing guide lists API and MCP access among add-ons priced separately.
- **Clay MCP** lets reps prompt ChatGPT, Codex or Claude to run Clay Functions, search Audiences or return up to 1,000 People Search results, per [Clay's MCP page](https://www.clay.com/mcp). Ops builds the Functions and sets the guardrails. [Claygent](https://www.clay.com/claygent) adds web research, billed in data credits plus 1 Action per prompt.
- **ZoomInfo's license terms** limit use of its data to your own sales, marketing, recruiting and business development, and bar you from incorporating it into your own products or services, per section 2.3 of its [license terms](https://www.zoominfo.com/legal/ltc). Your order form may differ, so check it before you build. This is not legal advice.
- **Enrich.chat** has an MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp that needs no key, and a plain HTTPS API your agent can learn from [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).

For a closer look, read our guides to [ZoomInfo MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/zoominfo-mcp/) and [Clay MCP](https://enrich.chat/blog/clay-mcp/).

## Can you use Clay and ZoomInfo together?

Yes. Clay has a native ZoomInfo integration, but it runs on your own ZoomInfo account, so you pay for both tools.

[Clay's integration page](https://www.clay.com/integrations/data-provider/zoominfo) lists four ZoomInfo actions, each marked Bring Your Own Account Required: Enrich Company, Enrich Contact, Enrich contact(s) by ID, which takes up to 25 contacts at once, and Search contacts.

[Clay's docs](https://university.clay.com/docs/zoominfo-integration) say you connect your ZoomInfo login from a table's enrichment menu. [ZoomInfo's integration page](https://www.zoominfo.com/integrations/clay) says mutual customers can bring ZoomInfo data into Clay through a native connector, and it places the API and MCP route under its GTM Studio Copilot API add-on. Neither page says how a ZoomInfo run is metered, so expect ZoomInfo to bill the credits and Clay to count the platform work.

The pairing makes sense when your team already holds a ZoomInfo contract and wants Clay's waterfalls and research on top. Clay's HTTP API action [sends or retrieves data from any endpoint](https://university.clay.com/docs/http-api-integration-overview), and Clay's pricing page lists HTTP API integrations on Growth, so an Enrich.chat lookup can be one step in a table. Our [Clay integration page](https://enrich.chat/integrations/clay/) covers using Enrich.chat with Clay.

## Is Clay harder to learn than ZoomInfo?

Yes, for most teams. [ZoomInfo's pricing page](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing) describes a search and export app, while Clay asks you to design the pipeline. That takes longer to learn but can do more. [Clay's own post](https://www.clay.com/blog/clay-vs-zoominfo) says ZoomInfo suits teams without an ops or GTM engineering resource.

- **Clay** runs live [cohort classes](https://university.clay.com/cohorts), and its [experts directory](https://www.clay.com/experts) lists agencies that build and run Clay for you.
- **Enrich.chat** has no interface to learn. You paste one prompt, and your agent reads agents.md and calls the API.

## Who should pick Clay, and who should pick ZoomInfo?

Pick Clay if someone on your team will build and own the data pipeline. Pick ZoomInfo if your reps want a finished platform with intent data and you can commit to a contract.

### When is Clay the better choice?

- **You want to control the waterfall.** You choose the providers and their order for each field, and your own provider keys skip data credits.
- **Many people need access.** Seats and tables are unlimited on every plan.
- **You want published prices and monthly billing.** Launch costs $185 a month billed monthly.
- **You need research no database sells.** Claygent reads the web and writes structured fields into each row.
- **You have someone to build it.** A GTM engineer or an agency can set up the tables and fix failed runs.

### When is ZoomInfo the better choice?

- **You want a finished app.** Search, exports, CRM integrations, a Chrome extension and dialing come with the Professional plan.
- **Intent data matters.** ZoomInfo says it tracks 4,500+ intent topics, and its Copilot plans add buyer intent signals.
- **You have no ops resource.** Nobody has to build tables before reps can use it.
- **You already hold a contract.** Clay can pull in your ZoomInfo account, so you keep what you already pay for.
- **You want a sales suite from one vendor.** Copilot Enterprise lists competitor alerts, custom intent signals and a dedicated customer service manager.

## When is Enrich.chat a better fit than Clay or ZoomInfo?

Enrich.chat fits when your AI agent or app only needs contact data. You skip the table builder, the seats and the long contract, and credits are spent only on matches.

- **Credits for matches only.** A work email costs 10 credits and a mobile found costs 250, on plans from $29 a month. A lookup that returns found: false costs 0 credits, and each response reports its credits_used.
- **Free to start.** You get 10 free lookups a day, with no signup. For more, log in on the [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/), pick a plan and pay at checkout, and your API key appears there.
- **An MCP server or one prompt.** Add the MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code or Codex (the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/) has the steps). Or have any agent, n8n or your own code read agents.md and call a plain HTTPS API.
- **A status on every field.** Emails come back verified, catch_all or unknown. Mobiles come back with a line type of mobile or unknown, which describes the number, not whether anyone answers it.
- **A LinkedIn URL is enough.** Send a profile URL as the lookup key. Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn.
- **Built for apps and agents.** Enrich.chat is an API for agents and apps, with unlimited seats and Enterprise from $2,000 a month. ZoomInfo's standard terms restrict building its data into your own product.

Enrich.chat has two gaps to weigh. It has no table builder, sequencer, dialer, Chrome extension or intent data, so you bring your own outreach tool. And its SDKs are still planned, so for now you call the plain HTTPS API or the MCP server. Your agent can add the MCP server or read [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md) and call the [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/). Test it on a few rows from your list:

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to find a work email and a mobile for the first 20 rows of my lead list. Keep my columns, mark misses as not found, flag catch_all emails as risky, and tell me how many matched and the total credits_used, so I can compare the cost with Clay and ZoomInfo.
```

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Clay better than ZoomInfo?

Neither is better for every team. Clay is better for building custom enrichment: waterfalls across 150+ data partners and unlimited seats, from $185 a month on [Clay's pricing page](https://www.clay.com/pricing). ZoomInfo is better as a finished platform with intent data and a dialer, bought by quote, per [its pricing page](https://www.zoominfo.com/pricing). If your agent or app only needs work emails and mobiles, Enrich.chat has monthly credit plans from $29 with unlimited seats.

### Is Clay cheaper than ZoomInfo?

To start, yes. Clay lists Launch at $185 a month, or $167 billed annually, while ZoomInfo lists no platform prices. At scale the gap narrows: [Vendr's buyer data](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/zoominfo) shows a median of $33,500 a year for ZoomInfo across 1,577 purchases, and [$59,996 a year for Clay](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/clay) across 96. Those are negotiated contracts, so treat them as a guide, not a quote.

### Does Clay use ZoomInfo data?

Only if you connect your own ZoomInfo account. [Clay's ZoomInfo integration](https://www.clay.com/integrations/data-provider/zoominfo) has four actions: enrich company, enrich contact, enrich contacts by ID and search contacts. Each is marked Bring Your Own Account Required. Clay's own marketplace has 150+ data partners, per its pricing page. Expect two bills: ZoomInfo for the account and Clay for the platform work.

### Does ZoomInfo require an annual contract?

For paid plans, yes in practice. [ZoomInfo's 10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1794515/000179451526000012/zi-20251231.htm) says its subscriptions typically run one to three years and are non-cancelable, and [its pricing guide](https://pipeline.zoominfo.com/sales/how-much-does-zoominfo-cost) says monthly billing is not standard. ZoomInfo Lite and the GTM AI credits have no contract. Clay bills monthly or annually on Launch and Growth, and Enrich.chat bills monthly with no annual contract.

### Can Clay replace ZoomInfo?

For contact and company data, often yes, if someone will build the tables. Clay connects to 150+ data partners and adds phone enrichment from Launch. It lists signals and an email sequencer but no dialer, while [ZoomInfo](https://www.zoominfo.com/data) cites 4,500+ intent topics. [Clay's own post](https://www.clay.com/blog/clay-vs-zoominfo) says ZoomInfo suits teams without an ops or GTM engineering resource.

### Which is better for an AI agent, Clay or ZoomInfo?

Both have MCP connectors. [ZoomInfo MCP](https://www.zoominfo.com/solutions/zoominfo-mcp) works with Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity and signs in with your ZoomInfo credentials. [Clay MCP](https://www.clay.com/mcp) lets reps run Clay Functions from ChatGPT, Codex or Claude. Both work on top of an account with that vendor and spend its credits. Enrich.chat has an MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp that needs no key, with 10 free lookups a day.
