# HubSpot data enrichment for verified work emails and mobiles

HubSpot's built-in enrichment fills titles and firmographics, not contact emails or mobile numbers. Send each contact to Enrich.chat from Claude, a workflow or a CSV, and write every value back with its status.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 15, 2026.

**Short answer:** HubSpot's built-in data enrichment fills job titles, LinkedIn URLs and company details, but its [list of enriched contact properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) has no email address or mobile number. To fill them, send each contact to Enrich.chat from Claude with HubSpot MCP, a workflow custom code action, or a CSV import. Emails come back verified, catch_all or unknown, mobiles come with a line type, and a work email found uses 10 credits and a mobile 250.

## Key takeaways

- HubSpot's data enrichment fills titles, LinkedIn URLs and firmographics and uses no HubSpot Credits, but fills no contact email or mobile.
- Enrich.chat has no native HubSpot app. You connect it through Claude with HubSpot MCP, a workflow custom code action, or a CSV export and import.
- Workflow custom code and webhooks need Data Hub Professional or Enterprise. The Claude connector and CSV imports work on any HubSpot plan.
- Create Work email status, Mobile line status and Enrich.chat result properties, so every value in HubSpot keeps its check result.

## Contact data your HubSpot records are missing

- **Verified work emails.** Each email comes back marked verified, catch_all or unknown, so you know which to trust.
- **Mobiles with a line type.** Each mobile comes with a line of mobile or unknown. HubSpot's own enrichment adds no contact mobile.
- **Keys HubSpot already has.** Send a LinkedIn URL, any email, or a name and company. Gmail and Yahoo contacts work too.
- **A status next to every value.** Write email status and mobile line to their own properties, so lists and workflows can filter on them.
- **Credits only on matches.** 10 credits per work email, 250 per mobile. A contact with no match uses 0.
- **No app to install.** Run it from Claude with HubSpot MCP, a workflow or a CSV. Your agent adds enrich.chat/mcp or reads enrich.chat/agents.md.

## From a blank HubSpot field to a checked value

1. **Find the gaps.** Filter HubSpot contacts with no Email or no Mobile Phone Number, in a view, a workflow trigger or the HubSpot connector.
2. **Look up each contact.** Call `GET /v1/person` with the LinkedIn URL, the email, or name plus company, and `fields=email,mobile`.
3. **Write back with the status.** Fill empty properties only, store email status and mobile line, and skip contacts marked not found.

## What does HubSpot's built-in data enrichment fill?

HubSpot's built-in data enrichment fills job and company fields, not contact emails or mobile numbers. Its [list of enriched contact properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) covers name, job title, role, seniority, LinkedIn URL and location. The only phone it fills is the company Phone number. Contacts need a business email to start, and Gmail or Yahoo addresses are not enriched.

HubSpot sold the feature as Breeze Intelligence, with enrichment, form shortening and buyer intent, per the [Clearbit changelog](https://clearbit.com/changelog). Our [Clearbit alternatives](https://enrich.chat/alternatives/clearbit/) page has the history. Its [knowledge base](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment), updated July 10, 2026, now calls it data enrichment and says it does not consume HubSpot Credits. It comes with paid Starter, Professional and Enterprise hubs. Here is how it compares with Enrich.chat, checked October 15, 2026:

| Field | HubSpot data enrichment | Enrich.chat |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Contact email | [Not filled](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data); a work email is the input | Work email, marked verified, catch_all or unknown |
| Contact mobile | [Not filled](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data); company phone only | Mobile, with its line type |
| Title, seniority, LinkedIn URL | [Yes](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) | Yes, in the profile fields |
| Company firmographics | [Yes, including revenue, headcount and web technologies](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) | Yes, with `/v1/company` |
| Input it needs | [First name, last name and work email](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment) | A LinkedIn URL, any email, or name plus company |
| Runs on its own | [Yes: automatic, continuous, bulk, on import and in workflows](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) | Through a workflow, your agent or a CSV |
| Price | [Included in paid plans](https://www.hubspot.com/products/crm/data-enrichment); [Starter Core Seats are $20 a month each](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog) | Monthly credit plans from $29: 10 credits per email, 250 per mobile, 0 for a miss |

Two caveats. Buyer intent, which shows companies visiting your site, uses credits: 10 credits to monitor a company for a month, at $0.010 a credit on pay as you go, per [HubSpot's product catalog](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog). And HubSpot may add [limited business contact data from your enrichment](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/how-data-enrichment-works-in-hubspot) to its commercial dataset, unless you [use continuous enrichment only](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment).

### When is HubSpot's own enrichment enough?

Use HubSpot's enrichment alone when you need titles and firmographics on contacts that already have a work email. It runs on new records, [in bulk up to 100 at a time](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data), on imports and in workflows, with no per-record fee. Add Enrich.chat when the gap is a work email, a mobile, or a contact on a personal email domain. Run HubSpot's enrichment first: it fills LinkedIn URL, the strongest key you can send to Enrich.chat.

Two things to watch with Enrich.chat: it has no native HubSpot app or marketplace listing, and it has no sequencing or dialer, so you keep emailing and calling from HubSpot. For the basics, read [what data enrichment is](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-data-enrichment/).

## What are the three ways to enrich HubSpot contacts with Enrich.chat?

You can send HubSpot contacts to Enrich.chat from Claude with the HubSpot connector, from a workflow, or as a CSV you export and import again. All three call the same [person enrichment API](https://enrich.chat/api/person-enrichment/), `GET /v1/person`, with a LinkedIn URL, an email, or a name and company.

**Figure 1: Three routes from HubSpot to Enrich.chat, compared.** Three cards compare the routes. Claude with HubSpot MCP starts when you ask Claude, works on any HubSpot plan plus a paid Claude plan, writes back after you approve in batches of 10 records, and suits fixing a few records. A workflow starts when a contact enrolls, needs Data Hub Professional or Enterprise, writes back with the Edit records action only when found is yes, and suits every new contact. A CSV round trip starts when you export a view, works on any plan with no code, writes back by an update-only import matched on Record ID, and suits a one-time backfill. All three call Enrich.chat GET /v1/person with fields=email,mobile, which returns a status on every value and uses 0 credits when found is false.

*Pick the route by how often the gap appears. - **Claude with HubSpot MCP** for spot fixes. HubSpot's Claude connector works on all HubSpot plans with a paid Claude plan, and updates 10 records at a time, per [HubSpot's Claude guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/integrations/set-up-and-use-the-hubspot-connector-for-claude). Claude can call Enrich.chat through its [remote MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/). Our [HubSpot MCP guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/hubspot-mcp/) has the setup.
- **A workflow** for every new contact, on Data Hub Professional or Enterprise.
- **A CSV round trip** to backfill a database on any plan.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat and my HubSpot connector to find 25 contacts with no Mobile Phone Number, look each one up with fields=email,mobile, and show me every status. Write nothing to HubSpot until I approve each batch of 10.
```

## How do you enrich HubSpot contacts automatically with a workflow?

Add a custom code action that calls Enrich.chat for each enrolled contact. [HubSpot's custom code action docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/latest/automation/workflow-actions/custom-code-actions) say the action needs Data Hub Professional or Enterprise. The Node.js code at the top of this page is a working start.

**Figure 2: How a HubSpot workflow enriches one contact with Enrich.chat.** A contact with no mobile phone number enrolls in a HubSpot workflow. A custom code action calls Enrich.chat GET /v1/person with fields=email,mobile, using an API key stored as a secret, within HubSpot's 20 second and 128 MB limits. If the call fails with a 429 or 5xx error, the code rethrows it and HubSpot retries for up to three days. Edit records actions then save each status and the result, and a branch reads the result: yes fills the mobile, and the email only where Email is empty; no skips the contact with 0 credits used and nothing filled; and limit means a 402, so you wait for the daily reset or add a paid plan's key, then re-enroll.

*The custom code action calls Enrich.chat once per contact, and a branch on the saved result decides what HubSpot fills. Sources: [HubSpot's custom code action docs](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/latest/automation/workflow-actions/custom-code-actions), [branch guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/use-if-then-branches-in-workflows), [Enrich.chat agent docs](https://enrich.chat/agents.md).*

1. Create a contact-based workflow that enrolls contacts with no Mobile Phone Number.
2. Add a **Custom code** action in Node.js and add a secret named `ENRICH_KEY`. A key is optional, but plan on one: the free tier counts lookups per IP, and the code runs on HubSpot's servers, so its 10 daily lookups go fast. To get a key, log in at [enrich.chat/account/](https://enrich.chat/account/) with your email, pick a plan and pay at checkout. The key appears on that page.
3. Under properties to include in code, add LinkedIn URL, Email, First Name, Last Name and Company Name, named `linkedin_url`, `email`, `firstname`, `lastname` and `company`.
4. Paste the code and add five string outputs: `found`, `work_email`, `email_status`, `mobile` and `mobile_line`.
5. Add **Edit records** actions that copy `found`, `email_status` and `mobile_line` into Enrich.chat result, Work email status and Mobile line status.
6. Add a [value equals branch](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/use-if-then-branches-in-workflows) on Enrich.chat result. On `yes`, copy `mobile` into Mobile Phone Number, and copy `work_email` into Email behind a second branch that checks Email is empty. On `no` or `limit`, end.

[HubSpot's limits](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/latest/automation/workflow-actions/custom-code-actions): the code must finish within 20 seconds and use no more than 128 MB. If it rethrows a 429 or 5xx error, HubSpot retries for up to three days. A 402 means today's free lookups are used up, so the sample returns `limit` instead. You can also rate-limit the action; keep it under Enrich.chat's limit of 5 requests a second.

### Can you use a webhook instead of custom code?

Yes, with one catch. HubSpot's [Send a webhook action](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/how-do-i-use-webhooks-with-hubspot-workflows), also on Data Hub Professional or Enterprise, can send a GET request with contact properties as query parameters and, if you use a key, an `Authorization` header. But HubSpot says to select only outputs present in every response, or later actions fail. An Enrich.chat miss returns only `{"found": false}`, so `found` is the one safe output. Custom code returns an empty string for any missing field instead.

## How do you enrich a whole HubSpot database with a CSV?

Export the contacts, have your AI agent enrich the file with Enrich.chat, and import it back as an update, on any HubSpot plan.

1. Open a contact view filtered to the gap, such as no Mobile Phone Number, and click **Export**. Choose all properties, which puts Record ID in the first column, per [HubSpot's export guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/export-records). The download link arrives by email.
2. Give the file to Claude Code, Cursor or another agent with the prompt below. The [contact data API for AI agents](https://enrich.chat/agents/) page lists the clients that work.
3. Import the file with **Update existing contacts only**. HubSpot's [import guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/import-objects) says Record ID overrides other unique identifiers, and Email also works for contacts. Map the new columns to your status properties.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to enrich hubspot-export.csv with fields=email,mobile. Use the LinkedIn URL, else the email, else name and company. Add work_email, email_status, mobile and mobile_line columns, leave not-found rows blank, keep Record ID, and tell me the total credits_used.
```

HubSpot's [import file rules](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file) say blank cells are ignored and do not clear existing values, so not-found rows are safe. Paid plans take files up to 512 MB and 1,048,576 rows. If the free lookups run out mid-file, the agent [pauses and shares an upgrade link](https://enrich.chat/agents.md). Choose a plan on your [account page](https://enrich.chat/account/) and give the agent your key, or wait for the daily reset, and it resumes from the next row.

## Which HubSpot properties should Enrich.chat fill?

Write each value to the HubSpot property built for it, and store its status in a property of its own. Create three dropdown properties first, Work email status, Mobile line status and Enrich.chat result, so lists and workflows can filter on them. Creating properties needs the Edit property settings permission, per [HubSpot's property guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-and-edit-properties).

| Enrich.chat field | HubSpot contact property | How to write it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `work_email.value` | **[Email](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties)** (default) | Only when Email is empty. If it holds a personal address, use a new Work email property. |
| `work_email.status` | **Work email status** (new dropdown: verified, catch_all, unknown) | Always, next to the email |
| `mobile.value` | **[Mobile Phone Number](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties)** (default) | Only when empty. Leave Phone Number for the main line. |
| `mobile.line` | **Mobile line status** (new dropdown: mobile, unknown) | Always, next to the mobile |
| `title`, `linkedin_url` | **[Job Title, LinkedIn URL](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties)** (default) | Only when empty. HubSpot's enrichment fills these too, so pick one source. |
| `found` | **Enrich.chat result** (new dropdown: yes, no, limit) | Always. Workflows branch on it and skip contacts already tried. |

- **Do not overwrite Email.** HubSpot [deduplicates contacts by email address](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/deduplication-of-records), so changing it changes how imports match.
- **Treat catch_all as risky.** The domain accepts every address, so the mailbox cannot be confirmed. The free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/) explains why.
- **A mobile line type is not a live check**, and it does not show the number belongs to the person. Check one number by hand with the [phone number validator](https://enrich.chat/tools/phone-number-validator/).

## What does it cost to enrich 1,000 HubSpot contacts?

If all 1,000 contacts return both a work email and a mobile, the run uses 260,000 credits. That fits the Scale plan at $90 a month, and the plan covers other lookups too. Enrich.chat spends 10 credits per work email and 250 per mobile found, and 0 when `found` is false.

| You ask for | Credits if all 1,000 match | Plan that covers it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Email: 1,000 work emails | 10,000 | Growth plan, $29 a month |
| Mobile: 1,000 mobiles with a line type | 250,000 | Scale plan, $90 a month |
| Email and mobile: both fields HubSpot leaves blank | 260,000 | Scale plan, $90 a month |
| Email, mobile and profile: both, plus title and company | 265,000 | Scale plan, $90 a month |

Each response shows its credits in `credits_used`, so a workflow or agent can total the run. A plan is a fixed monthly price with unlimited seats, so a smaller list uses only part of it. Each IP gets 10 free lookups a day to test a sample first. See [Enrich.chat pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every field, or our guide to [waterfall enrichment](https://enrich.chat/blog/waterfall-enrichment/) for multi-vendor setups.

### What compliance and opt-out rules apply?

You are responsible for how you use enriched contacts. In the US, the [TCPA](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/227) bars autodialed or prerecorded calls to mobile numbers without the called party's prior express consent. [CAN-SPAM](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/7704) requires a working opt-out in commercial email, honored within 10 business days. In the UK, the [ICO says](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/) a work address like jane.smith@company.com is personal data, and a person's right to object to direct marketing is absolute.

Respect opt-outs on both sides. Anyone can remove their data from Enrich.chat at [enrich.chat/opt-out/](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/), and requests are processed within 15 days. HubSpot's [Enrichment opt out](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/hubspots-default-contact-properties) property marks contacts who opted out of HubSpot's own enrichment database, and you can leave them out of your workflow too.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does HubSpot enrich email addresses and phone numbers?

No. HubSpot's [list of enriched contact properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/enrich-your-contact-and-company-data) covers name, job title, seniority, LinkedIn URL and location, but no email address or mobile number. The only phone it fills is the company Phone number, and the work email is the input it starts from. Gmail and Yahoo contacts are not enriched at all. To fill emails and mobiles, send each contact to an API such as Enrich.chat, which marks every email verified, catch_all or unknown and gives each mobile a line type.

### Is HubSpot data enrichment free?

It is included with paid plans. [HubSpot says](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/get-started-with-data-enrichment) data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits, and it is available on Starter, Professional and Enterprise hubs. [HubSpot prices](https://legal.hubspot.com/hubspot-product-and-services-catalog) Starter Core Seats at $20 a month each, checked October 15, 2026. Buyer intent does use credits: 10 credits to monitor a company for a month, with extra credits at $0.010 each on pay as you go or $10 per pack of 1,000.

### Is there an Enrich.chat app in the HubSpot App Marketplace?

No. Enrich.chat has no native HubSpot app or marketplace listing. You connect it in one of three ways: Claude with HubSpot's connector, a workflow custom code action or webhook on Data Hub Professional or Enterprise, or a CSV you export, enrich with your agent and import again. Each route calls the same `GET /v1/person` endpoint. Claude can call Enrich.chat through its remote MCP server at enrich.chat/mcp (steps on the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/)) or by reading agents.md. The [HubSpot MCP guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/hubspot-mcp/) covers the Claude route.

### How do I enrich HubSpot contacts in bulk?

Export the contact view with all properties, which puts Record ID in the first column. Have Claude Code or another agent enrich the file with Enrich.chat, then import it with Update existing contacts only. [HubSpot ignores blank cells](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file) on import, so rows that came back not found keep their current values. HubSpot's own bulk enrichment handles up to 100 records at a time from an index page, but it fills no emails or mobiles.

### Can a HubSpot workflow call an external enrichment API?

Yes, on Data Hub Professional or Enterprise. A [custom code action](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api-reference/latest/automation/workflow-actions/custom-code-actions) can call any HTTPS API in Node.js or Python, within 20 seconds and 128 MB, with keys stored as secrets. Its outputs feed later actions such as Edit records. The [Send a webhook action](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/how-do-i-use-webhooks-with-hubspot-workflows) can also send a GET or POST request. HubSpot retries 429 and 5xx failures for up to three days.

### Which HubSpot properties should I create for contact enrichment?

Create three dropdown contact properties: Work email status, with verified, catch_all and unknown; Mobile line status, with mobile and unknown; and Enrich.chat result, with yes, no and limit. Write each status next to its value, so lists, reports and workflows can filter on verified emails only. The result property gives a workflow something to branch on and stops it retrying contacts. You need the Edit property settings permission, per [HubSpot's property guide](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-and-edit-properties).
