# Recruiting contact data: search by job title, then reveal work emails

Find professionals by job title, level, department, country and company size, with a free count before you spend a credit. Reveal work emails only for the people you will approach. Work emails only, and anyone can opt out.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 19, 2026.

**Short answer:** Enrich.chat gives recruiters professional contact data: search people by job title, level, department, country and company size, then reveal work emails for the ones you will approach. It is not a candidate database, with no resumes, no ATS integration and no personal emails. Reading 50 people and revealing 15 work emails uses 400 credits.

## Key takeaways

- Filters cover job title, level, department, role group, place, industry, company size, technology, skills, time in role and how recently someone started their role.
- A reveal returns a work email with a status of verified, catch_all or unknown. It is the address at the person's employer, not a personal email.
- Reading 50 people and revealing 15 work emails uses 400 credits on a plan. Anything not found uses 0.
- A recruiting team shares lists, saved searches and one Do not contact list. A hiring manager with the viewer role can read a shortlist but cannot spend credits.
- UK and EU data protection law still applies to a work email that names a person. You assess your lawful basis, and anyone can object or opt out.

## What a sourcing run needs from contact data

- **Title, level and department.** Search by one job title or several title phrases, then level, department, role group and place. Add a skill or headline words to narrow it.
- **Company size and industry.** Narrow to the teams you recruit from with industry, company size, technology used and funding stage.
- **People new in a role.** Keep only people who started their current role in the last N days, such as a new head of engineering.
- **Work emails with a status.** Each email comes back verified, catch_all or unknown. Work emails only, no personal addresses.
- **Leave people out.** Add off-limits companies to Leave these out, or leave out whole countries, titles or industries. The team shares one Do not contact list, and opt-outs apply to every result.
- **Shared shortlists, CSV and XLSX.** Save a shortlist with a tag and a note for each person. The whole recruiting team sees it. Export CSV or XLSX for your own tracker.

## One sourcing run

1. **Count by title.** Set title, level, department, country and company size. Check the free count.
2. **Read and reveal.** Read the list best first, then reveal work emails for the people you will approach.
3. **Save and export.** Add them to a shared list with a tag and a note, then export CSV or XLSX for your tracker.

## What recruiting contact data does Enrich.chat give you?

Enrich.chat gives recruiters professional contact data: a person's name, title, company, level, department, country and LinkedIn URL, plus a work email and a mobile number when you reveal them. It is not a candidate database. There are no resumes or availability notes, and there is no ATS integration.

[Wikipedia's article on sourcing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sourcing_%28personnel%29) describes secondary sourcing as internet research, mostly with Boolean search strings. Enrich.chat replaces part of that step. You describe the role or set filters, see a free count, and get a list to reveal contacts from.

It suits two jobs: sourcing professionals for a role, and finding hiring leaders if you run an agency. Both use the same [people search](https://enrich.chat/features/people-search/). To add work emails to a spreadsheet you already have, see [bulk enrichment](https://enrich.chat/features/bulk-enrichment/).

## How does one sourcing run work, from title search to export?

Take an agency recruiter filling a head of data role for a UK software client. Log in at [enrich.chat/login](https://enrich.chat/login/) with your email and a six-digit code, then open People. Names and companies below are made up.

### 1. Count by title, level and place

Set the filters in the dashboard, or write the search in plain English. The count updates as each filter changes and costs nothing. Filters combine with AND, and several values of one filter combine with OR.

**Figure 1: One sourcing search, as dashboard filters and API parameters.** Eight rows map a dashboard filter to the value a recruiter enters and to the API parameter that does the same job: job title to title, level to level, department to function, country to country, industry to industry, employees to company_size, Leave these out to exclude_domains, and Has a work email to has_email.

*The same sourcing search in the dashboard and in the API. The values are an example; `client.example.com` stands in for your client's website. Parameters are from the [Enrich.chat API reference](https://enrich.chat/docs/).*

### 2. Leave your client and off-limits companies out

Put the client's website, and any company you agreed not to approach, in Leave these out. For single people, add emails, company websites or LinkedIn profiles to your [Do not contact](https://enrich.chat/features/do-not-contact/) list. People on it are left out of every list export. To leave out whole groups, such as countries or industries, use the More filters "Leave out" group. Your team shares one Do not contact list.

### 3. Read the list best first

Press Search. Each row shows a name, title, company, level and country, with a link to the LinkedIn profile so you can judge fit. Results come best first: email and mobile on file, then email only, then the most recently updated.

Few roles have one exact title. Turn on Match tiers to rank the list by fit. Tier 1 might be senior data engineers, tier 2 data engineers and tier 3 analytics engineers. Each person appears once, with the first tier that matched and a score from 100 down to 10. A tier search is billed like a normal one, 5 credits for each person shown on a plan. See [match tiers](https://enrich.chat/features/match-tiers/).

### 4. Reveal work emails for the best 15

Tick the people worth approaching and choose Reveal emails. Each email found uses 10 credits, and a miss is free. The email comes back as `verified`, `catch_all` or `unknown`. It is the person's work address, so it lands in an inbox their employer owns. Some people would rather not get job approaches there, so keep the first message short.

### 5. Save a shortlist and export

Add the 15 to a list. Give each person a tag, such as shortlist or approached, and a note. The list belongs to your whole [team](https://enrich.chat/features/team-workspaces/), so a colleague sees the tags and notes, and a contact one recruiter revealed is free for the next to open. A hiring manager invited as a viewer can read the shortlist but cannot spend credits. Export a CSV or an Excel (.xlsx) file for your own tracker, because there is no ATS integration. The [lists and export](https://enrich.chat/features/lists-and-export/) page has the details.

### The same run from an agent

The code panel at the top of this page shows the calls behind steps 1 to 4. An agent that reads [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md), or has the [MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/) added, can make them for you. Paste this prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to count data engineers at software companies in the United Kingdom with 200 to 1000 employees, leave out client.example.com, show me the 25 best, then reveal work emails for the 15 best with their status and tell me the credits used
```

## Can you find hiring managers and new leaders for agency business?

Yes. A recruiter lead search uses the same screens, pointed at clients instead of candidates. There are two routes, and they can be combined.

- **Start from companies.** [Company search](https://enrich.chat/features/company-search/) filters by industry, location, size, revenue band, technology used, funding stage, funded since, growth and founded year. Open a company for its profile, then choose Find people here. In the API, `GET /v1/company/people` takes a company website and a `title` such as head of talent.
- **Start from people who are new in a role.** The filter "Started the role in the last N days", or `started_role_within_days` in the API, keeps people who started their current role recently. A new head of engineering is a natural first call for an agency.
- **Start from team size.** Filters for a minimum number of people in engineering, IT or security roles, plus funding, find companies with a team of that size. These are team-size signals, not job ads.

**Figure 2: Two recruiter searches: candidates and clients.** Two columns of four steps each. Sourcing candidates: search people by title, level, department and country, read the list best first, reveal work emails, then save a shortlist. Winning client work: find companies by industry, size and funding, find the hiring contact by title, keep people who are new in the role, then reveal and save.

*Both jobs use the same search, reveal and list screens. Candidate sourcing starts from people; client work can start from companies or from people new in a role.*

This is a filter, not an alert. Enrich.chat does not tell you when someone changes job, so re-run a saved search for a fresh view. Funding facts are not intent data, which Enrich.chat does not have. The guide to [finding the employees of a company](https://enrich.chat/blog/find-employees-of-a-company/) covers more routes to the right contact.

## What does a sourcing run cost in credits?

Reading 50 people and revealing 15 work emails uses 400 credits. That fits the Growth plan, which costs $29 a month.

| Step | What happens | Credits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Count | A live count while you edit filters | 0 |
| Read 50 people | Two pages of 25 people, 5 credits for each person returned | 250 |
| Reveal 15 work emails | 10 credits for each email found, nothing for a miss | Up to 150 |
| Total | One sourcing run | Up to 400 |

A mobile found uses 250 credits, which is the costly line, and calls and texts have stricter rules than email. Most sourcing starts with email. Credits renew with each monthly payment, and unused credits do not roll over. Every plan has unlimited seats, and the owner's credits are one pool for the whole team. A spreadsheet of names you already hold can go through [Bulk enrich](https://enrich.chat/features/bulk-enrichment/) as a [background job](https://enrich.chat/features/background-jobs/) that runs on the server. See [pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) for every plan.

The free tier works differently. A search page uses one of your 10 daily lookups however many people it shows, and each email you reveal uses one more. Counts and anything not found do not count. The free [AI lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/) lets you try a search.

## What does Enrich.chat not do for recruiters?

Enrich.chat finds professionals and their work emails. It is not a recruiting system. Know these gaps before you choose it.

- **Not a candidate database.** There are no resumes, skills, availability notes or open-to-work flags. You judge fit from the title, the company and the LinkedIn profile.
- **No ATS integration.** Export a CSV and import it yourself.
- **Work emails only.** Enrich.chat does not return personal email addresses, and a lookup that starts from an email accepts a work address only.
- **No sending or sequencing.** There is no email sending, sequence builder or dialer.
- **No alerts.** Nothing watches for job changes. A saved search runs when you click Run.
- **No SSO and no per-person credit limits.** Agency colleagues share lists and one credit pool, but you cannot cap what each recruiter spends.
- **1,000 results per search.** Narrow the filters to go deeper.

## What do GDPR and PECR mean when you contact someone about a job?

A work email that names a person is personal data, and data protection law applies to how you use it. This is not legal advice, and using Enrich.chat does not make anyone compliant. The points below are from UK and EU regulator text.

The UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), gives [business-to-business marketing guidance](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/). It says UK GDPR applies when a name or work address identifies a person. A generic address such as an IT department mailbox does not. It names consent and legitimate interests as the most relevant lawful bases.

Legitimate interests is your assessment to make. The ICO's [legitimate interests guidance](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/lawful-basis/legitimate-interests/what-is-the-legitimate-interests-basis/) sets a three-part test of purpose, necessity and balance, and says you must pass all three before you start. It also says direct marketing must still meet the PECR consent rules.

**Figure 3: What to do, and when, after you find someone's work email.** A five-step timeline. Before you start, run the legitimate interests test. At the first message, say who you are and how to object. Within one month of getting the data, give privacy information. If the person objects to direct marketing, stop and keep a suppression note. Before every send, check opt-outs and your do-not-contact list.

*A UK GDPR checklist for contacting someone about a job. Sources: [ICO on legitimate interests](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/lawful-basis/legitimate-interests/what-is-the-legitimate-interests-basis/), [GDPR Articles 14 and 21](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32016R0679) and [ICO on the right to object](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/individual-rights/individual-rights/right-to-object/). Not legal advice.*

When you get someone's details from another source, [GDPR Article 14](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32016R0679) asks you to give privacy information within a reasonable period and at the latest within one month. The ICO's [right to object](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/individual-rights/individual-rights/right-to-object/) page calls the right to object to direct marketing absolute. You must stop, and the ICO says you can keep a suppression record instead of erasing the person.

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) add email and message rules. The ICO says the consent rule for email does not apply to corporate subscribers, but sole traders and some partnerships count as individuals. Its [draft recruitment guidance](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/employment/recruitment-and-selection/finding-candidates) says direct messages on social media are direct marketing and electronic mail under PECR. The same draft says you should not search candidates' personal social media profiles, even public ones.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can recruiters use Enrich.chat to find candidate email addresses?

Yes, for work emails. You search professionals by job title, level, department, country and company size, then reveal a work email for each person you want to approach. It comes back as verified, catch_all or unknown. Enrich.chat does not return personal emails, so treat each address as a lead at the person's employer, not a guarantee. The [people search](https://enrich.chat/features/people-search/) page covers the filters.

### Is Enrich.chat a candidate database with resumes?

No. Enrich.chat holds professional contact data: name, title, company, level, department, country, LinkedIn URL and, when revealed, a work email and a mobile. There are no resumes or availability notes, and no ATS integration. A skills filter can narrow a search, but you judge fit from the title, company and LinkedIn profile. Export a CSV or XLSX file from a list and import it into your own tracker. Enrich.chat never logs in to LinkedIn, and a LinkedIn URL is only a link.

### Can I email candidates at their work address under GDPR?

It depends on your facts, and this is not legal advice. The [ICO says](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/) UK GDPR applies when a work address identifies a person. You need a lawful basis, such as legitimate interests after a three-part test, you must give privacy information within one month, and you must stop direct marketing if the person objects.

### How do I find people who just started a new role?

Use the filter Started the role in the last N days in the dashboard, or `started_role_within_days` in the API. It keeps people who started their current role recently. It is a filter, not an alert: Enrich.chat does not tell you when someone changes job. Agencies use it to find new hiring leaders, who are a natural first call.

### How much does it cost to source 50 candidates?

Reading 50 people uses 250 credits on a plan, because each person returned in a search uses 5. Revealing 15 work emails adds up to 150, and anyone with no email found costs nothing. The run uses up to 400 credits, which fits the Growth plan. On a team, the plan owner's credits pay for every recruiter. See [pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).

### How do I keep my client's employees out of a search?

Add the client's website to Leave these out in the dashboard, or pass it as `exclude_domains` in the API. For single people, add emails, company websites or LinkedIn profiles to your team's shared [Do not contact](https://enrich.chat/features/do-not-contact/) list. People on that list are left out of every list export and background job, and opt-outs from enrich.chat/opt-out apply to every result.
