# Sales prospecting from a free count to a CSV of work emails

Describe your buyer in plain English. See how many people match before you spend a credit, read the list best first, reveal work emails for the ones worth contacting, then save and export.

By Enrich.chat Editorial. Updated October 19, 2026.

**Short answer:** Sales prospecting on Enrich.chat runs in five steps: count the market for free, search by role and company, read the results best first, reveal work emails for only the people you will contact, then save a list and export a CSV. Reading 100 prospects and revealing 20 work emails uses 700 credits, which fits the Growth plan at $29 a month.

## Key takeaways

- A count is free, so you can size a market before you read a single row. The dashboard updates it as you edit filters.
- Results come best first: people with an email and a mobile on file, then email only, then the most recently updated.
- On a plan, each person you read uses 5 credits, a revealed work email 10 and a mobile 250. Anything not found uses 0.
- Lists, saved searches and revealed contacts are shared by the whole team, and the plan owner's credits pay for every rep. A viewer can read a list but cannot spend credits.
- Enrich.chat finds and exports contacts. It does not send email, run sequences or sync to a CRM app, so you bring your own sending tool.

## What a prospecting run needs from a data tool

- **Free counts.** Size a market before you read a row. Counts, filter lists and anything not found use 0 credits.
- **Plain English or filters.** Describe your buyer, or set title, level, department, company size, technology and funding. A "read as" line shows how it was understood.
- **Best-first results.** People with an email and a mobile on file come first, then email only. Or set match tiers: your exact buyer first, then wider titles.
- **Reveal one person at a time.** A work email costs 10 credits and a mobile 250. Reveal only for the people you will contact.
- **Shared lists, CSV and XLSX.** Save people with a tag and a note. The whole team sees the list. Export a page, your selection or up to 1,000 results.
- **Runs from an agent too.** The same search works from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP, or from any code with a plain GET request.

## One weekly prospecting run

1. **Count and search.** Describe the buyer. Check the free count and the "read as" line, then search.
2. **Reveal the best.** Select the top 20 and reveal work emails. A person with no email found costs nothing.
3. **Save and export.** Add them to a shared list with a tag, then export CSV or XLSX for your sending tool or CRM.

## What is sales prospecting, and where does Enrich.chat fit?

Sales prospecting is the first stage of selling: finding people who might buy and starting a conversation. [Shopify's guide to prospecting tools](https://www.shopify.com/blog/prospecting-tools) lists the usual steps as defining your ideal customer profile, finding leads, qualifying them, writing personal outreach and following up.

Enrich.chat covers the find step and the contact-data step. You describe the buyer, see how many people match, read the list best first and reveal work emails for the ones worth contacting. Writing and sending stay in your own tools. If you have no profile of your buyer yet, start with our [ideal customer profile template](https://enrich.chat/blog/ideal-customer-profile/).

You can run it two ways. The dashboard at [enrich.chat/app](https://enrich.chat/app/) suits a person at a screen. The [API](https://enrich.chat/features/api/) and the [MCP server](https://enrich.chat/features/mcp-server/) run the same search from an AI agent, so one prompt can do the whole run.

## How does a prospecting run work in Enrich.chat, from count to export?

A run has five steps: count, search, reveal, save and export. Log in at [enrich.chat/login](https://enrich.chat/login/) with your email and a six-digit code, then open People. The example below follows a salesperson who sells to operations leaders at logistics companies. All names and companies are made up.

**Figure 1: The People screen in the Enrich.chat dashboard.** A drawing of the People screen. Filters on the left hold a plain-English box and chips for level, country and company size. On the right a free count of matching people sits above a results table, with three rows selected and Add to list, Reveal emails and Export actions, and Email and Mobile reveal buttons priced in credits.

*The People screen: filters and a free count, then results with a reveal button for each email and mobile. The people, companies and the count are illustrative. Credit prices are from the [Enrich.chat pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

### 1. Size the market with the free count

Type who you want in plain English, or set filters. The count above the results updates as you edit and costs nothing. A "Read as" line shows how Enrich.chat understood your words, using exact filter names. If the count is too big to work, add a state, a size band or a technology. If it is tiny, loosen one filter. A request that names nobody in particular is refused with `search_too_broad`.

### 2. Search and read the list best first

Press Search. Each row shows a name, title, company, level and country, and whether an email and a mobile are on file. Results come best first: people with an email and a mobile, then email only, then the most recently updated. A page holds 25 people, and one search can be paged up to 1,000.

If your exact title is too narrow, turn on Match tiers. Tier 1 is your best fit, such as VPs of Operations. Tier 2 widens it to directors of operations. Each person appears once, labelled with the tier that matched first and a score of 100, 75, 50, 25 or 10, so the strongest fits sit on top. A tier search is billed like a normal one, 5 credits for each person shown on a plan. See [match tiers](https://enrich.chat/features/match-tiers/) for the scores.

### 3. Reveal work emails for the best 20

Tick the 20 people you would contact first and choose Reveal emails. Each email found uses 10 credits and comes back with a status: `verified`, `catch_all` or `unknown`. A person with no email found costs nothing. Treat `catch_all` as risky, because the domain accepts every address and the mailbox cannot be confirmed.

### 4. Save the 20 to a list

Add the people to a list, then give each a tag and a note. A list keeps who you found, your notes and the contacts you revealed. Your whole team sees the same lists, saved searches and revealed contacts, so a contact one rep revealed is free for the next rep to open. Save the search too, and next week one click on Run repeats it.

### 5. Export a CSV

Export this page, the rows you selected, or up to 1,000 results from the search, as CSV or as an Excel (.xlsx) file. A people file holds name, title, company, company website, level, department, country, LinkedIn URL, work email, email status and mobile. People on your Do not contact list are left out of every list export. Import the file into your CRM or sending tool.

### Run it as a team

The owner of the plan invites reps by email on the [team page](https://enrich.chat/features/team-workspaces/) at `/app/#/team`, and each person logs in with that email and a code. Roles are owner, admin, member and viewer. Members search, reveal, build lists and run jobs. A viewer, such as a sales manager who only reviews, can read lists and saved searches but cannot spend credits. The Do not contact list is shared too, and the owner's credits are one pool for everyone. If you start from a spreadsheet of target accounts, run Bulk enrich on the server as a [background job](https://enrich.chat/features/background-jobs/). It keeps going after you close the tab.

### The same run from an agent

The code panel at the top of this page shows the three calls behind steps 1 to 3. An agent that reads [agents.md](https://enrich.chat/agents.md), or has the [MCP server](https://enrich.chat/install/) added, can make them for you. Paste this prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor.

```text
Use www.enrich.chat to count VPs of Operations at US logistics companies with 200 to 1000 employees and a work email, show me the 25 best, then reveal work emails for the 20 best with their status and tell me the credits used
```

## How many credits does a run of 100 prospects use?

Reading 100 prospects and revealing 20 work emails uses 700 credits. That fits the Growth plan, which costs $29 a month.

| Step | What happens | Credits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Count | A live count while you edit filters | 0 |
| Read 100 prospects | Four pages of 25 people, 5 credits for each person returned | 500 |
| Reveal 20 work emails | 10 credits for each email found, nothing for a miss | Up to 200 |
| Total | One prospecting run | Up to 700 |

**Figure 2: Credits for a run of 100 prospects, with and without mobiles.** Two bars. Reading 100 people and revealing 20 work emails uses 700 credits on a plan. Adding mobiles for the five best people brings it to 1,950 credits, because a mobile uses far more credits than an email.

*Credits on a plan for one prospecting run. Mobiles are the largest line, so reveal them only for people you will call. Illustrative maths from the [Enrich.chat credit prices](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).*

Mobiles are the expensive part. A mobile found uses 250 credits, so revealing mobiles for only the five best prospects adds 1,250 credits. Keep mobiles for people you will actually call, and read the [TCPA rules for calls and texts](https://enrich.chat/blog/tcpa-b2b-cold-calling/) first.

Run this every week and a month uses 2,800 credits, which still fits the Growth plan at $29 a month. Credits renew with each monthly payment, and unused credits do not roll over. Every plan has unlimited seats, and the owner's credits are one pool for the whole team. The [pricing page](https://enrich.chat/pricing/) shows all plans.

The free tier works differently. A search page uses one of your 10 daily lookups however many people it shows, and each email you reveal uses one more. Counts and anything not found do not count.

## Which filters find the prospects worth contacting?

People search filters combine with AND, and several values of one filter combine with OR. A filter you set replaces what your plain-English text says about the same thing.

| What you want to know | Dashboard filter | API parameter |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who buys | Job title, Level, Department, Role group | title, level, function, persona |
| Which accounts | Industry, Employees, Revenue, Country, US state | industry, company_size, company_revenue, country, state |
| Fit with your product | Uses technology | uses |
| Timing | Started the role in the last N days, Funding stage, Funded since, Employee growth, Monthly web visits | started_role_within_days, funding_stage, funded_since, growth_min, traffic_min |
| Reachability | Has a work email, Has a mobile number | has_email, has_mobile |
| Look-alike titles | More filters: any of these title phrases, exact titles | title_any, title_exact |
| Sales team size | More filters: minimum people in sales, account executive or business development roles | sales_roles_min, account_executive_roles_min, business_development_roles_min |
| Who to skip | Leave these out, plus the More filters "Leave out" group for countries, titles, industries and company names | exclude_domains, exclude_country, exclude_title, exclude_industry, exclude_company_name |

The timing filters are facts about a person or company, such as a recent start date or funding date. Enrich.chat has no intent data. For the idea behind timing, see [15 buying signals](https://enrich.chat/blog/sales-signals/), and for tools by technology see [technographic search](https://enrich.chat/features/technographic-search/).

If you pass a value Enrich.chat does not know, the API returns `unknown_filter_value` with `did_you_mean` suggestions. The free filter lists at `/v1/facets` show every exact value, and `GET /v1/filters` lists every filter with its type and an example. A filter works on the data we hold, so not every company has every field. Revenue is a band, not an exact figure, and `employees_on_linkedin` is a signal for size, not an exact headcount. The [people search API](https://enrich.chat/api/people-search/) page lists every parameter, and [market sizing with free counts](https://enrich.chat/use-cases/market-sizing/) shows what to do with the count alone.

## What does Enrich.chat not do for sales prospecting?

Enrich.chat finds and exports contacts. It does not run your outreach. Know these gaps before you choose it.

- **No sending or sequencing.** There is no email sending, sequence builder or dialer. Export the CSV and use your own sending tool.
- **No CRM app.** There is no native HubSpot or Salesforce app. The CSV export and the API are the bridge, as the [CRM enrichment](https://enrich.chat/use-cases/crm-enrichment/) page explains.
- **No alerts.** A saved search runs when you click Run. Nothing watches the market for you.
- **No SSO and no per-person credit limits.** A team shares the owner's credits, and a viewer cannot spend any, but you cannot cap what each member spends.
- **1,000 results per search.** Narrow the filters to go deeper.

A contact is a strong lead, not a guarantee. Read the status on every email before you send, and check any mobile against the rules for calls. The free [catch-all checker](https://enrich.chat/tools/catch-all-checker/) shows how accept-all domains behave.

## What rules apply when you email prospects?

Business email is regulated. The FTC's [CAN-SPAM compliance guide](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business) says the law covers business-to-business email too. It asks senders to use honest header and subject lines, say the message is an ad, include a postal address, give a clear way to opt out and honor opt-outs within 10 business days.

In the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) publishes [business-to-business marketing guidance](https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/direct-marketing-and-privacy-and-electronic-communications/business-to-business-marketing/). It says the consent rule for email does not apply to corporate subscribers. UK GDPR still applies when an address identifies a person, and people can object to direct marketing. Sole traders count as individuals.

Enrich.chat applies opt-outs from [enrich.chat/opt-out](https://enrich.chat/opt-out/) to every result, and your team's shared [Do not contact](https://enrich.chat/features/do-not-contact/) list is left out of list exports and background jobs. You stay responsible for the rules that apply to you. This is not legal advice, and using Enrich.chat does not make anyone compliant. For the data side of outreach, read [cold email in 2026](https://enrich.chat/blog/cold-email/).

## Frequently asked questions

### What are the best sales prospecting tools?

It depends on the job. Most prospecting stacks combine a contact data source, a sending tool and a CRM. Enrich.chat is the data layer: it searches people and companies, shows free counts, and reveals work emails and mobiles. It does not send email or run sequences. Our [AI prospecting tools](https://enrich.chat/blog/ai-prospecting-tools/) comparison covers tools that automate the other steps.

### How do you find prospects for free?

Use the free tier. Every IP address gets 10 free API lookups a day with no signup, and counts, filter lists and lookups that find nothing do not count. The free [AI lead list builder](https://enrich.chat/tools/lead-list-builder/) returns a short list from a plain-English description. For the full run, log in to the [dashboard](https://enrich.chat/app/) with your email and a code.

### How many credits does it take to prospect 100 people?

Reading 100 people uses 500 credits on a plan, because each person returned in a search uses 5. Revealing 20 work emails adds up to 200, and a person with no email found costs nothing. The whole run uses up to 700 credits, which fits the Growth plan. On a team, the plan owner's credits pay for every rep. See [pricing](https://enrich.chat/pricing/).

### Does Enrich.chat send emails or connect to my CRM?

No. Enrich.chat has no email sending, sequencing or dialer, no native HubSpot or Salesforce app and no CRM sync. You export a CSV or XLSX file from a list, or call the API, then import the contacts into your CRM or sending tool. The [CRM enrichment](https://enrich.chat/use-cases/crm-enrichment/) page covers the API route and background jobs in more detail.

### Can an AI agent run the prospecting for me?

Yes. Paste a prompt that starts with "Use www.enrich.chat" into ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor, or add the MCP server from the [install page](https://enrich.chat/install/). The agent can count, search and reveal using the same API. The OAuth address uses your plan's credits, and the no-sign-in address uses the 10 free lookups a day.

### Is every revealed email safe to send to?

No. Every work email comes back with a status from our records: verified, catch_all or unknown. A catch_all domain accepts every address, so the mailbox cannot be confirmed, and you should treat it as risky. Think of each contact as a strong lead, not a guarantee. The [catch-all email guide](https://enrich.chat/blog/what-is-a-catch-all-email/) explains the risk.
